Uh Oh...Cheater cheater pumpkin eater...L1 for the 4 team

They'll use this as motivation and will be pissed off this weekend cause they got picked on...even though they cheated. The weirdest thing to me.

Wow

The team violated Section 20.4.12 of the NASCAR Rule Book that is specific to spoilers. Spoilers must be used exactly as supplied from the manufacturer and not altered. The infraction was discovered in post-race tear down at the NASCAR Research & Development Center.

Altered spoiler.

Damn. But what exactly did they do to the spoiler???

That's what I'd like to know, too.

The notes reference that the spoiler must match the CAD drawings: "Vehicle spoiler must conform to CAD file and drawings."

This suggests that they discovered some variance that could have only come from human manipulation to cause it to deviate from the drawings. I guess that complete consistency with the design/CAD spec is beyond the OSS's ability at the track.

I’m curious what the violations were for the 12 and 20 team.

It’s obvious to me that Penske and Gibbs used those two non playoff cars as guinea pigs to see what they could get away with.

The 4 team...that’s just dumb.

Just wow, how do you do something so stupid with the season championship sitting right in front of you. Obviously this was a blatant rules infraction and they got busted and wont appeal. Just stupid.

My question is, how long have they been doing it and getting away with it ? The obvious speed advantage of the 4 car is no accident.

I knew they'd (NASCAR) do something to make sure Golden Boy Chase has a shot at the title! :sarcasm:

I don't know whether to bash the 4 team for being so colossally stupid or praise them on the giant onions it took to try something like that.

Very true. Makes you wonder if both the Kansas and Dover cars had something going on but we didn't get to find out.

yeah very dumb but this brings up the question what happens if whoever wins the title at homestead if this happens then. Would they take the championship away from him ?

Who would think that this was a good idea this close to the end of the season?
This was a colossally stupid action by somebody.
If I was Tony, there would be heads rolling.

Exactly. Dumb dumb dumb. But, It may be why they've been fast all year.

Eddie Gossage is asking for his six shooters and cowboy hat back.
LOL. Eddie would have to give 'em to Logano... whose car did not go to the R & D Center. All three cars torn down failed... 4, 12, and 20.

That's funny all three cars they sent back were illegal. I wonder how many of the others were.
Probably the whole top 10 lol

Just in the little bit of practice I got to watch it sounded like all of the teams were really thrown for a loop last weekend between the track and new tire. They had to all be searching for something.

I doubt it. I think that’s why the Championship 4 are always so much faster than the rest of the field at Homestead, because they know they can do pretty much whatever they want as long as it’s not glaringly obvious. It’d be a huge black eye on the sport if NASCAR were ever to rescind a championship based on a penalty after all of the hullabaloo that goes on with the winner immediately after that race.

It's the cheater's ball at Homestead.
