Uh Oh...Cheater cheater pumpkin eater...L1 for the 4 team

I don't think suspension is enough.. Hand Harvick the broom. Make him start over by sweeping floors until he works his way back up. Clean the toilets too. If that don't work then I think Harvick should have to give up his firstborn to one of them Dillion boys. Take your pick.

I doubt Harv had much to do with it. He wasn't out there with a screwdriver and a rubber mallet, tapping the spoiler off-line.

NASCAR needs to change its culture in the garage. Cheating shouldn't be acceptable and the punishment should be harsh. Using the excuse that everyone is doing it so we had to cheat just to keep up is what the guys in cycling used.

Unfortunately, that was true of cycling at one time, much hard work has been done to change that. Major wins erased from record books and year long bans helped.

I wonder how many parts there are on a race ready Cup car. I also wonder how long it would take to check each and every one of those parts to the degree that would satisfy many of the board members. It's unrealistic to expect every single thing to be checked on these cars and some will get through under the radar. That's one of the reasons that these wining cars and other random selections are taken back to Nascar's R&D building for a more thorough check. Seems like the system worked to me.

Does anyone remember when they used to broadcast the car tear-downs @ the R&D Center? I used to post a link weekly for members to watch. I don't think they broadcast it anymore but if you ever did take the time to watch one of those procedures, you'd easily understand why it's completely unrealistic for something like that to take place trackside. A complete inspection of one of those cars is a lengthy process to say the least.

Lets see ... there is an engine a seat and 4 wheels. ;)

"This year there isn’t a number or officiating on the offset of the decklid and spoiler together on the car. And at Kansas we noticed people we were racing had the spoilers and decklids further to the right than ours. And it was too late to move the decklid over more.
"But, but, the other kids did it first!!"

Well Rodney, if it was only .04% of your downforce, and you are already arguably have the fastest car on the circuit, why go to that much trouble chasing it, and how much work went into knowing it's only .04%? AND, how come NASCAR was able to VISUALLY see that your car was different, and how come you were the only ones caught? Why not just say "We we pushing the legal tolerances to the absolute limit and we goofed up and exceeded the legal number" and just leave it at that?

an earlier tweet said Nascar allowed 1" to the right for the trunk lid for Texas. I would imagine it wasn't that simple to just move the trunk 1" to the right. :idunno: on the other hand I am not sure I believe a word Childers says.

Yeah I read the 1" allowed too, which makes ZERO sense to me. Why allow the teams to twist the body out of shape in the first place? I can see a VERY small number for car building tolerance, but allowing an inch is just plain stupid. It's just like the twisted sister cars. If I were calling the shots, that crap would have been outlawed on day one. I have always believed that BOTH sides of the car should be EXACTLY the same. So basically the 4 team blew through the 1" tolerance by .200", and we're supposed to feel sorry for them?

I think those folks are a long way from stupid myself. If I had to guess, Knowing how slick Texas was going to be, Nascar worked with the teams to get more downforce into the car. Childress had his own ideas. I didn't see anybody apologizing.

No, the teams aren't stupid, but NASCAR is for allowing such a huge variance in the cars. I GUESS you say the 4 team was stupid for pushing it .200" beyond the inch they were legally allowed to take. If NASCAR wanted the teams to have more downforce at Texas, they should have just allowed a taller spoiler, not jack the body around to get the RR corner out into the wind.

I wonder how much time Rodney spends figuring out what he is going to say if he gets caught. I do think he does a much better job of it than Knaus does.

As planned. The window didn't give them an advantage either. What is completely stupid is that I don't think his driver needs this stuff, but Rodney is savage.
Why not just say "We we pushing the legal tolerances to the absolute limit and we goofed up and exceeded the legal number" and just leave it at that?
Because that is not the mentality of his team. Harvick loves this me against the world bull****. The media laps it up. Rodney plays the role of the nice guy who is getting screwed. Delana's wife plays the role of the thug who is going to war for his brothers. Comical. What makes me laugh even more is how the idiots in the media have played up how Old Man has improved the consistency of the cars. Well, consistency would suggest that all four were illegal, and probably have been for quite some time.

this makes me laugh, sounds like a night time drama show. I won't do all of the rolling heads though.

Shhhh.... don't bring sound logic into this. The Bull is being picked on, and he sees the haters. He's super motivated and on a mission. :bleh:

sounds like you need to be on the RTA or somthin.

Well, I never believed in the RTA, but I'll take the job if you are offering. I've been pretty underwhelmed by the initiatives that have been credited to that group so far. maybe I can help.

Kind of sounds like a certain driver who has a hard chocolate candy for a sponsor. ;)
bull****. That driver doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks.

You forgot that he is a racer, and badass.

Clearly, not much. He says the same **** every time.

Fingers crossed for the time when that happens in NASCAR.

never going to happen. but it gives some something to worry about. Like Zippy said every car here is illegal somewhere. Dealing with thousands of an inch instead of checking how much air the tire has.;)

It needs to happen, they have a zero tolerance for drug users yet they tolerate blatant cheating.

Yep, because saying everyone else is cheating really isn't an excuse. It is more of a statement about the culture within, and officiating of the sport. Really, it points out just how horrible the officiating is that they can't enforce their rules or choose not to enforce them.

yeah it is good for much hand wringing for some. :D the rest of us know that it is racing, not inflate a ball.

The less cheating going on in any type of racing, the better the racing. Too much cheating in any series can damage the series. Cycling was damaged horribly by publicized cheating, it will take years to repair the damage that was done by a handful of competitors

It has for cycling and it may never come back. If the 4 Team wins someone needs to ask Kevin one question. Are you aware of anything illegal having been done to your race car or to allow you to win? Then ask the fill in Crew Chief the same question.

Heck, the press should just ask that at the end of every race no matter who the winner is and record their answer.
