2019 Texas I-- O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 -- Pre-Race Thread

someone said to start them by points,i think this would be the best way for now,so they can work on this, this is not good for the sport. also someone please buy larsons crew a ......,, watch.
I think that's a terrible idea.. if anything practice speeds but to give the pole to the points leader every week is just dumb.

Qualifying is not the problem. Seriously, I have no energy or appetite to "fix" qualifying. It is merely a symptom of the real problem... cars with flaccid engines pulling parachutes around and stuck like glue by excessive downforce. Fix that and you've fixed qualifying.
If every car is the same then why is the car the problem??? The whole idea is to see who can go the fastest with what you have.
The problem is Nascar doesn't have the balls to do anything. If Big Bill was here he would say you have 1 minute to get on the track or go back to the garage. Next time you go home.
That ends the games because your now racing the clock with real penalties. You would only send 1 car home to stop the games. My proof of that is only 3 drivers I can remember have ever been sent home.

I didn’t see qualifying but the rules tweak apparently just changed where they parked, is that right?

Final practice Texas

Damn, Slim Jim dominating every facet of the weekend so far. Would love to be proven wrong and see a 2nd place finish out of him.

That is what I want to see more of. I appreciate Mike Joy for taking a snapshot of the averages.

Judging by that pictures Chevy is looking strong this week. Saturday is a completely different situation from Sunday though.

I don't think you can read anything into Practice and/or Qualifying times anymore. If we looked at first Practice yesterday, we would conclude that Toyota was lost. Happy Hour....not so much. Jimmie has been fast all weekend, but who knows? Toyota has taken a max downforce approach with the Rodney Childers Autograph Edition Spoiler, and while not super sexy in Practice and Qualifying has paid big dividends in the race. Should be fun.

just got done watching final practice and judging by that it seems Nascar finally is going to get their pack racing they been wanting.

So does the 48 car end that winless streak today?

Will be interesting to see if the extra track temp changes the Hendrick fortunes for the race. This could be interesting, and this is why fans should watch. I probably feel more comfortable with Kyle Busch unhappy on Friday and Saturday knowing that conditions will be different today than I would with Hendrick happy going into today. I think things will be different.

I love watching Clint Bowyer interviews - he always seems like he is right on the verge of saying something like "What the Bleep, Bleep, Blebitty, Bleep Nascar thinking, Bleep, Bleep". :D

I need some new targets. :p

I was a flea market a few years back and a lady had a big bag of those Beanie Babies that were extra popular for awhile - got like 40 of them for 5 bucks - we perched them on a fence and blasted them all with .22s
