Kyle larson is robby gordon 2.0

everyone runs worse after leaving chips cars, now the team has kurt it looks to me like the resources are moving toward kurt.

Or maybe Kurt's better than Kyle Larson. I mean, Kurt Busch is a champion of the sport.

Matt McCall was an elite Late Model Stock driver and a great crew chief. I knew this combination would be successful.

^ I haven't watched anyone interview him in quite awhile. He isn't really interesting when they do.
Just another one of those kid carrying drivers looking for publicity.

I listen to Larson and his team every week on the radio. His car has been top 10 fast with the exception being the Atlanta car. The team has hurt him a few times this season already. At Bristol he had a loose RF tire and when they come down to fix that the RF tire carrier leaves a tire uncontrolled. 2 errors from the same guy and he is 4 laps down and chasing the race. By the time they got back to the lead lap with about 70 to go they were then chasing the racetrack. They are consistently chasing the track and the changes in it.

From a mental stand point he doesn't like to be slow and when he is slow he doesn't want to be in the way. The car was tight when they got back on the lead lap and he was in danger of being lapped and was told on the radio to fight and not allow the leaders to just blow by him. He responded with, "I can't, I'm too slow." A lap later Joey blew by him. He doesn't quit, but he gets beyond frustrated with lack of speed and it takes him a while to settle down. His wins will come with more maturation and a better understanding of the car and what it is doing. When you listen to Kurt in the 1 and Larson in the 42 it is night and day difference in regards to explaining what they want and what the car is doing.

It has just been a rough start to the season all around for the 42 bunch. They will find it.

Kyle Larson has still got more to offer, but it has been rough seeing him and his team not deliver and fumble around so far, and I imagine his fans feel that way and then some. I saw a tweet by Kyle yesterday that pretty much encapsulated the frustration that everyone has described him as having lately.

So it sounds like he somewhat struggles with race management and maximizing your day? This is where I think Elliott has always had the edge on the rest of the younger guys and where Blaney is just now starting to figure it out.

He isn't nearly as bad as Logano was with Gibbs. But not knowing anything about race cars might be the reason he chokes as he doesn't know what he needs for those final restarts.

thats would be some funny stuff ,if it wasnt true.iam one of his biggest fan.i think maybe he is just trying to hard.he will be ok

Probably get dogged for this, but I think Larson is used to having one setup for dirt, drop the flag and ya got what ya got. I don't think I have ever heard Larson give any directions but mostly one word loose or tight where as a person needs to record and save what Kyle Busch and other front runners tell their crew chiefs what they need as the race goes on so they don't miss any changes.

With the momentum type racing that has taken over the cup series Larson's signature high line is being affected.

Larson used to kick ass in the Xfinity series using that high line. I have to imagine there is a significant difference in his ability to throttle control and make up ground in this year's Cup car.

That sounds to me like his CC doesn't know how to communicate properly.

Logano was only bad at Gibbs because his CC insisted he drive Tony"s car set up.
Once he got away from him he was fine. Did a great job in the Xfinity series with other CC's.
Didn't take him long to improve once he got his own cars at Penske either.

CGR has got the top Chevy this year? Is that true?

Kurt Busch's Team seems to be getting the most out of it. Kyle Larson seems to push his ride and gets bit -- perhaps a little bit of bad luck, but that's racing.

I wonder if Larson has had a tough time adjusting to this new aero package, it just might not suite his driving style. I really can’t get over how bad he’s running compared to this time last year and compared to Kurt this year.

It seems to me that every fast young driver gets compared to a veteran driver. I've noticed that Larson likes to run the wall and he frequently scrapes the wall which diminishes the car a bit, sometimes hard enough to take him out of contention. I recall Kyle Busch doing the same thing in his early days. I think having Kurt as a teammate will help him.

Personally, I'm sick of these drivers that INSIST on running up against the wall, and then 75% of the time end up HITTING the wall. I put up with this crap from Dale Jr. for about a decade. It doesn't make a damn bit of difference how fast you are up there if at some point you're going to bounce off the wall and screw up the car, whether it's your fault or not.

Larson's driving style it to turn the car with the throttle (open wheel) now he has to much downforce and not enough HP to make it better.

Wonder if Larson would benefit from some sim time (given that there is no testing) rather than hanging out at a dirt track which he has made very clear is his first love. It may be a factor or it may not be, but his comment about Cup being a necessary evil to get him where he truly wants to be has a bad look when you are running as he is right now. I think the dude needs some discipline, and then his talent will take him where he should be.

IF I was rick I think I would try to hire kurt for next season. put him in byron's or bowman's car. never got why rick didn't want kenseth or another veteren. I think kurt can help a team get better. I used to hate kurt. I mean seriously could not stand him. but I was rooting for him, to beat his brother. I think larson isn't as good as so many people think he is. I always remember and I have always said, Chip's cars are as good or better than the drivers are capable of. most people have thought chip's cars suck. I say they don't and run as well as the driver is able to run.

Rick didn't want Kenseth or another veteran driver because they were asking for too much money. The young guys drive almost for free.

I had higher hopes for Bowman, he was groomed and waiting his turn for a good while. Thought he'd be strong out of the gate.

It might not look as bad if he weren't being outperformed by Byron as well, but that's the case at the moment. And the #9 and #48 are obviously strong.

Byron is showing much better this year, starting to live up to his potential. He has come alive when the cars have had better speed. With the slower cars he was finishing pretty close to the 48 last year and this year a lot. Good pairing with Chad. Bowman has been struggling and so has Larson and so has Truex.

Huge hype, and I never understood it.

I feel that Larson's problem is mostly mental.
He is not dedicated to NASCAR racing.
We all know he would rather be dirt racing. And we all heard his statement about NASCAR is only
a means to get to running dirt all the time. In that same statement i believe he also said he saw himself staying
in NASCAR for only 10 years.
Something else troubled me. A few years back, while still a very young and up and coming driver, he was more interested in talking about his vacations than his racing.
And Kurt is showing to be a far more successful driver this season with the same equipment.
If you believe our great drivers of the past were most successful because they had an incredible will to win. Almost an insatiable desire to win. Then Larson i think lacks that will. I believe he is content to run, take what comes and mark off another race, another season.
That is a tragedy because his talent is limitless.
If this were another sport, as in the ball and stick sports, as an owner or coach.....I would !ook to move him...trade him.....get what you can for him because he will never live up to his true potential.
At one point I thought of him as being the next Sr. or the next King.
As you can see, I am extremely disappointed with Kyle Larson.

Kyle Larson has been Kasey Kahne 2.0 so far.
what is kinda scary is that Kahne won 11 races his first 7 years to Larson's 5 in the same time frame. Kahne came on the scene and had everybody touting him and he produced to that point. Larson never busted off any early wins, and he is in a 44 race winless streak.

Huge hype, and I never understood it.

I don't know that there was that much "hype" about him. He was impressive enough in a fill in role to earn the job and he got it. Last year he was the second best car at HMS (I know that's not saying a whole lot, but he was). This year has been a little bit of a struggle, but the cars still haven't been all that great, and he's caught a few bad breaks. More than once, the crew has dug him a hole he couldn't climb out of.
