Silly Season 2020

Let the speculation begin......I don’t think this is good for Alex any way you slice it.

some will have to ignore what Hendrick said about Bowman's future. He's signed for next year, and Hendrick said:

Sucks to see sponsors leave, especially one as committed to the sport as Nationwide. Alex will be fine. He’s having a breakout year and is top 10 in points. Not to mention Mr. H says he’s under contract through next season.

The key here is driver salary. I doubt HMS is paying Bowman all that much. A talented driver on a cheap contract will factor into the sponsorship budget crunch for 2020. Versus shelling out the dough for a Kurt Busch or Larson.

Rick also said that about Kasey Kahne in 17...and I also remember Rick saying there was “No Room at The Inn” for Dale Jr in 2008. Now Kyle Busch drives for JGR.

huh? Hendrick paid a years salary to Kahne to run with Levine family racing and threw some sponsors in on the deal. Kyle Busch dug his own hole at Hendrick

Rick said Kasey was safe at one point in 2017. Rick also said that he wasn’t going to sign Jr in 2008....I just wouldn’t dismiss them losing Nationwide as no big deal for Bowman. They can’t even sponsor the 24 fully.
yo k

Mr. H said he didn't have room, and at the time, he was right. Kyle Busch hadn't quite worn out his welcome yet :D

This is true. However those things were said before Byron won a championship and Kyle bailed at Texas (allowing Jr to drive his car).

Losing sponsors is always a big deal. I’m not dismissing it. I just can’t see Bowman being tossed to the curb yet. Not with how he’s running of late. He’s the 2nd best performer at HMS the last two seasons.

And as I already mentioned, he’s cheap. Easier to slap Hendrick Autoguard on a car when the driver isn’t commanding a champion’s salary.

yep and it isn't like the solar bunch bailing at the last minute like what happened to Ganassi, they have time to work some deals before next season.

Yes sir I agree, I would bet Rick will keep Alex but it will sting not having Nationwide. If however I had to be hopeful of an organization finding a sponsor it’s Hendrick Motorsports. They are good at finding new companies to come on board. I do hope they’ll ditch the 88 though since the last connection to Jr is now gone and slap a 25 on that car next year.

Screw Nationwide! We don't need 'em! If they don't want us, we don't want them! Good riddance! Someone better will come along :D

Where is Ian McVittle?

We need someone to sound the alarm! (again)

Nationwide was pretty well a Junior sponsorship and he was the spokesman. Like many of his deals, his money came from his personal commercials and representation. It may just be that the deal between Nationwide and Junior has ended and so they are cutting ties with HMS as well? Something triggered the "early clause".
Bowman fits the bill very well for the HMS stereo type and is a very good driver so I am sure they will sponsor him and resign him next year as well. ( My BOLD Prediction for next year.) :D:D

Bold: Cup Champions

The 60 car suffered the curse of the vortex. I think it is still spinning somewhere.
It fell out of the hauler as it was being dragged away from the racetrack for the last time, and suffered a spin on the highway.

RCR and RFR are at the top of Cup teams that don't have race winning speed.

Ryan Newman and Matt Kenseth have helped some but not a lot to be winning at RFR. Daniel Hemric has had a lot of struggles so far which I think has set RCR back a little.

The only one i would ask about is Woods, aren't they more on par with RCR and RFR than Germain and FRM?

Another team maybe on the verge of closing its doors after this season. The question is who could it possibly be?
Canary in the Coal Mine

This was a tough week for this reporter because I heard a whopper of a rumor about a major NASCAR team planning to shut down their operation for next season. While this information came from a usually reliable source I have known inside NASCAR for many years, I refuse to make huge waves based on one single rumor.

While I didn’t want to contact the team mentioned in the rumor yet, I did make a few other calls with my reliable sources within NASCAR and tap-danced around the issue without hearing anything close to a second source for the rumor. But if a Charter-owning team that runs up toward the front of the pack in NASCAR’s Cup Series is thinking about leaving at the end of the year, this move would be a major “Canary in the Coal Mine” for NASCAR.

In recent weeks, we have heard lots of rumors about possible additional manufacturers thinking about NASCAR, and maybe this will save TEAM X. But if a major team is looking to leave the sport with uncertainties over money paid to teams via the series sponsorship or lack thereof, that has to be a huge concern for everyone going forward.

Yikes that's scary! Honestly CGR comes to mind first but Roush I another one where I would'nt be shocked...

Ganassi is the first that popped to mind. Lost Target and DC Solar, a lot was invested into those two for Ganassi.

Roush has gained a lot of sponsorship, especially for Newman with Oscar Meyer, Acorn, and maintaining Wyndam Rewards. Lets hope all teams are back for next season, it would be a shame to lose another organization like that.

My shot in the dark guess would be Gannassi, they’ve lost a ton of sponsorship and he may say f it and focus on Indycar

Roush has been mentioned in discussions in other places I hang out as time getting short so who knows.

I saw some reckless rumor mongering on Twitter with RFR as the subject.
RFR is what I saw on Reddit. They shut the guy down immediately, but then to see a legit reporter bring it up (while not naming teams)...
