Deegan Won Again

Several guys dumped Danica fairly early in her races. Of course it was all her fault they couldn't stay off her bumper. She was 400+ laps into a top ten run at Bristol and got wrecked. For no reason other than testosterone. YMMV.

I remember watching her drive up through the field at Martinsville one year. I got a lot of heat for tweeting about her progress. She went from being in the 30s a lap down to knocking on the door of a top-five finish. Then Denny Hamlin just flat took her out.

There was one XFINITY race she had in the bag when some idiot fan threw something on the track which knocked her out of contention. And then one race at Road America, she was threatening for the win and Jacques Villeneueve wiped her out for no reason whatsoever.

That **** happened to Danica A LOT.

She hasn't qualified or finished great in many K&N East or the limited ARCA races she's been in.

A lot of drivers have set the world on fire in K&N East and ARCA and then went on to bomb when they got into NASCAR.

These supposed super cars that anyone can win in that she's running in K&N East are breaking left and right on her this year. Didn't she get dumped at Pocono while running fairly decently in her first speedway start?

As for the Todd Gilliland comments in here ... LOL. Dude's damn good. Something isn't clicking at KBM - but Todd's plenty damn good. I've watched him for years. Just, LOL.

Todd seems due for a win, the 4 was good at Texas. I'm less impressed with Harrison personally, but he's younger and less starts.

Okay so here's a touchy subject but if anyone has experienced a last-lap dump and run at a local short track you know there's a likelihood for that to end in a fight, so what do you do when the culprit is a minor and female? Pretty much guarantees torn-up equipment down the road. She essentially has more liberty to take someone out because there is no risk of any physical consequences.

This is taking nothing away from hailie deegan she got rooted out of the way on the restart, took a dive bomb and went for the win with the spirit of a true racer.

Todd is very, very good. As for Hailie, people are talking about her so that mean it's working and the hype is what NASCAR wants. As for NASCAR funding her and pushing her, it is very true. Last year she was going to try and run a 10k to win late model race at Madera for Naake and NASCAR told her she couldn't. They did not want her to go to the local track and be made to look bad if a weekly driver beat her. NASCAR understands that they have a potential cash cow on their hands who appeals to women and a younger demo and who understands how to connect with the younger demo better than most. Her ride at McAnally is fully funded and I heard Bill is receiving a kickback from NASCAR to groom her and move her along. I even heard that her Pops was mad when he had to put in some money for a seat.

Her future is what she decides to make of it, but there is a ton of potential.

She could easily have had at least half dozen top 10's. Her career was a HUGE disappointment. She's tougher than i am. I would have been expressing regrets at my career not going well. She just swallowed it and moved on.

I don't think Hailie is afraid of a fight.

I see a lot less fear and talent with Hailie than any other driver than Danica, but even being a top 15 driver in the top level stock car series is nearly impossible.

I never saw that, meaning car control, or knowing how to make a car better but yeah Danica was tougher than a boot. What I do see is Deegan moving up to the trucks and getting TV exposure soon. That will be a big test at that level.

are you suggesting its awesome that someone gets more opportunity over someone else with more ability? I don't think its awesome. I don't care if you have 2 heads and look like shreck, if you can drive a racecar. however I think it dilutes the sport when we have all these drivers get there for various "reasons" other than being the best driver in equal equipment. This thread makes its sound like the next richard petty is about to burst on the scene. have you guys ever actually went to a west series race and walked around the cars that are at the race? I can tell you I sure have. heck you can tell just by looking at the cars which ones are going to be the faster cars. Its pretty easy to see which cars have come with real intent to run well in that series. You guys need a serious dose of reality here. The reason Todd gilliland won 20 K&N races is because the cars were insanely better. Then when he moves up to KBM trucks, he doesn't even have a top 5!! look at another K&N driver, noah gragson, He actually outran the mcanally cars and the bruncati cars, as a result he is actually running well and winning in the series he is moved up to. you gotta look beyond the surface here to see whats real.

thanks for the reality check. being an expert an all, can ya tell us how many drivers in the higher series raced in the K&N series? ya know, guys like Logano, Blaney, Moffitt, Kyle Busch, Schrader, Vickers, Gaughan?

Where did you hear about the bit regarding Brian being mad? Just curious... Also curious how much he pitched.

I agree right here. David Wilson bit the bullet and kept Toyota in the Truck series when they went spec because he felt strongly that the jump from K&N to Xfinity was too large.

as far as Gragson, I think you mean he won in the truck series, he moved up to Xfinity and hasn't won so far.

After reading through all this, all I can add is this. It's way, waaay to soon to see what Deegan can or will do at the next level. She's definitely not afraid to rub other drivers. So who knows how far she'll go? Nobody.

a great post!!! I hope she does well.

Not sure on how much he put in. My information comes from a buddy who races locally who is connected with a member of the teams of all involved in this conversation. I have no reason to believe any of the info is incorrect. The source is in the garage for KBM and McAnally every race.

I'll leave that for you to figure out, although considering your question I have minimal confidence in your ability to find that answer. You can bitch and complain all you want about who deserves what, but it will not change a thing. I'm not even a fan of her and couldn't care less about her success. However, she would be good for the sport in terms of eyeballs to a certain extent if she can generate sustained success. That can't be argued.

For the record I have been going to West Series races for 15-20 years. I'm a west coaster that attends many West series races dating back to the Winston West naming. I agree that she is in the absolute best equipment out there. McAnally has had the West Series as his playground since he brought in Eric Holmes. It still doesn't change the fact that she is making noise. The reality of it is that she does comes from a discipline of racing that could really help her succeed long term. She is marketing dream for NASCAR and will continue to be handled with kit gloves and given the best equipment until she fizzles out and you will continue to complain about arbitrary things like the question of whether or not she is deserving or not.

As for Todd Gilliland, I was simply stating that you are speaking on a topic based on your opinion of he the driver. Truthfully out of turn as well considering you appear to have no knowledge of the details surrounding his situation at KBM. Todd ahs talent, he in fact be overrated, but his situation at KBM was flipped at the last minute and the results ended up being the same even though KB was well aware of the issue between driver and Chief.

I've been saying this since her K&N East mediocre results but nobody seems to notice. She's not Natalie bad but she's not very fast.

I wonder how good the equipment is. Natalie got Venturini's best car. Hailie's **** is breaking and blowing up in ARCA - which is unusual for Venturini.

But so far, Natalie's results are better than Hailie's results.

You can thank nascar for ruining the lower divisions to the point of zero competition. The west series is deceiving because there so few competitive teams/drivers. K&N East and ARCA are better then that but still in trouble. So now everytime a driver does well in these divisions we overhype and they disappoint lol. I feel like other then trucks/Xfinity that late models is the beat judge of driver talent

Stop falling for the hype machine BS.

I just hope she isn't rushed up the ladder. That's all I ask for as a fan.

Low odds of that happening when you have an ambitious driver who has full backing from her family and a large fan base. Cry now or cry later it won't change a thing. If Decker can make it to the trucks, Deegan is a shoe in. If they somehow put her in a cup ride, I would agree with you and everybody else but at least on the Toyota side at the cup level it looks pretty impossible.

NASCAR, Monster, and Toyota all know what they are doing. I just feel its unnecessary pressure on her to already depict her as some "savant" or something. That's all I'm saying, I enjoy Hailie she's quite fearless it seems and her personality is fantastic. I guess its truly inevitable, we saw it with guys like Attwood, Logano, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, etc. It goes on and on, but that's just me, I would hate to put more pressure on a teenager. Let them live and learn a bit.

@Ventisca what are you going on about? I enjoy Hailie and what she brings to NASCAR. The media driven agenda is what bothers me more than anything else. Hailie is a developing driver with a lot of potential, I think her future is quite bright and I hope she grows into a great driver. Just let her grow first before making those types of headlines.

NASCAR runied them? What are you talking about? NASCAR has gone out of thier way to reduce costs for them and save them from themselves. People love to bust on NASCAR yet they have zero knowledge on how things work. Amazing

"If you don't like [her], just say you don't. Good lord man, what a soap opera."

How so did he say that he didn't like her.

Seems there's fans that like her and that's fine but I'd like to see advanced stats that David Smith usually does versus the other Venturini drivers.

Stop falling for the hype machine BS.

Never.
