2021 Silly Season

I really appreciated this cool photo

Lajoie isn't an engineer, but he started out as a shop hand and was even a crew chief in the ARCA Series.

Pretty cool to think that AK's old shop is being used again as well. Hopefully Spire can become a semi-competitive team in time.

Interesting they are going to jump him over the trucks to Xfinity cars.

My guess is that it has something to do with the somewhat lack of performance on track and now talent outside of the trucks at KBM. He lost Rudy Fugle and is shuttering his super late model team basically saying he can't find the right people to run it....

Like I've said in past that it's my opinion that it's too hard to just talent when a driver runs JGR Xfinity equipment. The resources over there are just so much better than what everyone else in the Xfinity garage has.

KBM lost crew chief Mike Hillman Jr also to DGR.
Having to replace half of your veteran crew chiefs isn't an easy job to do. I haven't heard of who's replacing them.

Maybe they are finishing up filling out the Xfinity schedule? Maybe Bubba or JHN doing some Xfinity races this year?

Gibbs and Truex were announced yesterday for Xfinity action.

That's a heck of a opportunity for Ty! Hope he shows his talent

Ty has always been the more talented of the brothers

Based off of what? Austin had more success in both trucks and Xfinity, Cup isn't comparable due to ride levels.

He very well may be, but this year we should see. If he doesn't win a race for JGR in Xfinity then I believe that will prove he's NOT better than his brother.

Old racing adage: “You’re as good as you were last week.”

It’s good to see this place never misses a chance to take a shot at Austin Dillon. Good grief, I can’t fathom why anyone would make a case as to how Ty is more talented that Austin. Based on what?

I dont think either of them are particularly talented and will be irrelevant for most of their careers.
I'm not sure I see it like you in terms of Austin. I myself wouldnt call a guy thats won a Daytona 500, Coke 600 and made multiple playoff appearances irrelevant. Is he a threat to win every week? No. Would he be my first choice on who to bet on for a race? No, thats foolish. But there are some tracks that suit his skill set and Austin an his team know how to excel at those. I think Austin is a solid driver who can bring it home unscratched most weeks, will take care of what you give him and contend for a playoff spot each year if RCR has good equipment. Also to be fair not many drivers at RCR have had huge relevance outside of Earnhardt and Harvick, once in a generation talents you could build a race team around.

I used to be open to the idea. I attribute it to wishful thinking because Ty is more likeable.
That's what I thought also. Likeability. Hell, I am ok with him going over to the dark side, maybe getting all the way away from paw paw, and his prickish brother will help in the race results column.

I’ll reserve judgement pending a Ty Dillon race win.

Will he Dab?

To me with Austin on the surface he those stats sound impressive but lets take an honest look at it. He won a crash filled 500 while being involved in a last lap crash with the leader, he won the 600 on fuel strategy, and he won Texas on pit strategy. Those account for 3 of his 4 playoff appearances. To me he's just never gone up there and taken or earned a win by being one of the best cars all race.
