'21 Generation 7 Car news

Come to think of it, didn't Austin Dillon and maybe another driver that tested it say it drove more like a SLM car? (in reference to Mustang body looking like a SLM from that angle)

Hmmm... Another detail I picked up here on the zoomed in shot: The spoiler is clear. Another SLM feature. I wonder if the real ones in competition will be.

Anyone know if there is a rule against going to a f1 style jack that’s slid under the car and one or two pumps back the entire car up? I mean we have one bolt wheels...

Trust me, NASCAR will write a dozen page rule on the hydraulic jack that teams must use.

Here's your sign, if they were going to air jacks, there would be pages and pages of the R-F experts opinions littered over almost every thread. Way more than a tire in the grass.

While not feasible due to the weight of the car, I think @DanicaFreak is talking about the two jackmen in F1 (not indycar) that lift the front and rear off the ground with hand operated jacks.

Wordy host but the clip has a nascar designer talking about features of the car. I learned a lot that I had never heard before from Brandon the Nascar engineer

I find it interesting that they did debunk the carbon fiber monocoque tub that has been reported ad nauseum, instead confirming the steel tube frame still. I know they mentioned on DBC that the driver took a lot more of the impact energy from a crash in the next gen car due to the stiffness, so I wonder if this was a safety compromise to go back to steel tube in order to have some deformation and build some energy absorbing crumple zones in.

They could design jacks that would work ... It would be neat to see 4 tires, full fuel load in under 10 secs

I thought being able to split the car apart in thirds was a mind blower. I wondered if the frame split there also.

Based on that leaked photo, I think a lot of fans who aren’t paying attention to this car’s development every step of the way are going to be super underwhelmed. Every new generation of NASCAR stock car has had a radical design change and is very noticeable.

If that leaked photo is an accurate representation of the new design, I don’t think many fans will notice an obvious difference other than a new nose design from the manufactures.

yeah 18" wheels think will stick out the most, then single lug (where's that air gun 5x sound on pit-stops?), and then hey that thing looks sleeker but similar.

Meh. With the exception of the COT, they have all blended together. For example, I doubt many noticed any difference whatsoever between the late Gen3 and early Gen4 cars.

I think the COT was the outlier, and the Gen6 got us back to cars that actually looked somewhat like their real life counterparts, which couldn't be said about the 2003ish thru 2012 cars. I think some of the changes with the Gen7 will be easily noticeable, especially with the bigger wheels and varying (manufacturer specific) greenhouse designs. And you already know NASCAR is going to relocate the number on the side of the car, which will be a drastic visual change as well.
