Watkins Glen - Go Bowling at The Glen 8/8

Probably because you put a mask on and take it off, the other you inject into your body and its there till its not.
Both recommended by the same set of brilliant people. 90% of the NFL are good with it. 90%. NASCAR? No comment....It's a "personal choice." Come on.

Likely because it is a personal choice
90% of the NFL have a whole different set of values? It's an individual choice--not a personal one. There is a difference. We will get this figured out or not. How does 90% of the NFL see this differently?

And until they do, it's still each individual's choice.
I do appreciate your wording. This is, in fact, an individual choice--not a personal one. My 86 year old Dad says so.

90% of the NFL are good with it. 90%
Do you know that 90% are 'good with it'? Are 90% are in compliance with the league policy because they don't want to be unemployed, regardless of their individual opinions?

Dude, if you're trying to say 'NASCAR should require vaccinations', please do so and quit dancing around what other organizations do.

You're missing the ability to separate decisions made by individuals (drivers' choices regarding vaccines) vs decisions made by organizations (NASCAR's regarding masks). One has nothing to do with the other. Note that for the purposes of this discussion, I'm not saying either decision is right or wrong, and I say that as someone who is as pro-vax as I can be.

You're also missing the NFL's participants are breathing on each other at close range all day, vs. NASCAR's competitors easily staying more than 6 feet apart except maybe when buckling in.

Weak sauce. NFL players can walk away from their millions, yet they choose not to. Still an individual choice.....and the last line is just not even close. Look at pit road prior to a race. I will argue that whoever is around those "lucky" enough to be there is taking in more air than NFL players. There is no argument or rationalization IMO. This is illustrative of the inconsistency that has led us back down this hole with the new variant.

It doesnt get more personal, come on man! (using my best Joe Biden voice)

Good enough to retain employment, and that is good enough for me. NASCAR has run their mouths about how great they handled the pandemic last year. Where are they now? Twenty somethings yammering about personal choices. BS. Their personal choices are taking us back to where we were. Squinty and douchey babbling about how it was like the common cold doesn't help.

NASCAR should require vaccinations. Appreciate the help. I agree, let's leave the most significant sport out of the discussion. Why would we watch what they do?

uh oh. before this above convo is finished in the Podium...... lets look at some past winner's at The Glen because its finally race week.

I like James Davison in this one. :beerbang:

WG will always hold a special place in my cold, cold heart: "It's ok, I've got my man Jimmie Jam."

I believe that this was the end of the Chase Hard on Himself Era....

I am not going to say it.

Same thing said about the Confederate flag. People got smarter. I believe in people....but I am losing my patience.
The NFL isnt requiring it, arent they your point of reference?

What would you call what they are doing? I mean the players are free to choose, but if they choose not to, they live the pandemic life. All of a sudden, the risk became worth it. Whatever it is, I would like to see NASCAR do that.

Could NASCARs take on covid be related to being a grass roots southern sport ie RED states and how Red states view covid?

but if they choose not to, they live the pandemic life.
You are talking about some of the most physically fit people on the planet and they are all in a low risk age category. Any adult who hasn’t gotten a widely available vaccine yet has never lived “the pandemic life” and likely never will.

NASCAR’s take on covid is based on the most recent CDC recommendations to curb virus spread. There is nothing political about NASCAR’s take. Sheesh.

The pandemic life in this sense is isolation from the team.

Cite your source....Everything I have seen from the CDC cites vaccinations as the best way to curb spread......NASCAR is careful to not piss off their fanbase while they constantly piss off their fanbase. Way late to the party with the flag....either stupid or scared. You make the call.

I am ending my participation in the COVID conversation deal....way derailed this thread. Mask up, get the shot, and let's get on with it.

Could you point out the difference in what the NFL is doing compared to NASCAR?

Going to honor what I said about derailing thread. I would be happy to DM you. Just let me know if you are interested...
NASCAR mandating masks at the Glenn was introduced into the thread.

Super excited for this race. I reviewed the 2018 race. I used to think that nobody could touch KFB through the Bus Stop, but Chase destroyed Kyle there--entry, middle, and exit. He was also much better through the Carousel. KB was better in 1 (the weakest part of the course for Chase), and the S's. Fabulous battle until a fueling problem for the 18. It's going to be great. Thinking that we will see these two up front again. Come on Sunday!
