Deegan update

Man, if these guys can't handle getting beat by a girl in a car race, imagine their reaction if they got beat on the wrestling mat. More and more girls are competing there in HS and going to head to head with boys their size and beating them. If you can't handle a girl beating you when you have the car or team to use as an excuse, how you going to handle it when it's mano y womano in a REAL test of athletic competition? Guess it's a good thing these boys don't have to.

Lost in translation here, is Deegan is not about $$$$. Her goal is a cup win. Shes not gonna set back and collect sponsor dolla bills without results. Shes a Deegan - they want to win, its in her blood.
I don’t see Deegan ever winning a Cup race.
I’m not saying she shouldn’t try if that is her goal.
My opinion isn’t based on the fact that she’s a female.

What you are missing are minimum standards to keep her job.

What IS that based on? Will Micheal Waltrip ever win a Cup race? Michael McDowell? I think you get my point. Or not.

Based on my observations of her current on-track performance. She averages 20th place finishes. That may change but for right now that's how I see it.
Michael Waltrip wouldn't have won a race had it not been for the advantage the DEI plate cars had at the time of his wins.
McDowell? Maybe he'll win another crapshoot plate race, who knows. Do I see him winning a non-plate race? No.

I do, I agree, but in order for her to do so, she needs to continue doing as well or better than she has. Right now she is a marketing diva, she has been since she was a pre teen and had the nickname Dirt Princess and she was highly successful in the dirt until Toyota picked her up and put her on pavement.

Here she is in a Legend Car several years ago.

Began racing Super Late Models in 2017. I was calling one of the races she was on for Speed51 TV.

These younger drivers are just better than her. That's all there is to it. If it's because of experience, well, the NASCAR Truck Series isn't the place to be learning how to drive an asphalt racecar. She's had close to six years to make the adjustment from dirt to asphalt.

She is next to last in points of all the drivers who have run every single race. Only Tanner Gray, who actually was exponentially better as a rookie last year, runs behind her.

She REALLY gets under your skin, huh? Well any woman in a race car does from what I've seen. Oh i've seen you talk up someone before but they've never been heard of since. Wonder why?

Don't flatter yourself. Who in the hell said she was a top 10 driver, you?

👇👇👇
She was heading toward a top 10 finish!

Also, top-10 driver should be the expectation for a rookie in the Truck Series. This is a series where above-average race car drivers win races as rookies. I've seen drivers who I previously felt had less talent than Deegan win races as a rookie in the Truck Series.

All this talk about misogyny but the truth is, if Hailie Deegan was a man and had this kind of hype and following, the expectation would be for wins, see Joey Logano.

When she ran in ARCA, in a series with five competitive cars, she averaged a sixth place finish. She was talked up because of top-five finishes (in a series with 12 cars and only about 5-6 competitive cars). She was next to last in points among the drivers who ran every race, only Drew Dollar, who is being called one of the worst drivers in the history of the sport, finished behind her with more wins and an equal number of top-five finishes.

She should be contending for top-10 finishes every week. Right now, she's racing mid-pack with a bunch of average, mid-pack drivers or above-average drivers in subpar trucks. The results aren't there.

I really want the kid to do well, it'd be good for the sport if she did. But, right now, she isn't the great hope for the sport. I'm afraid that, on this current trajectory, she's running in the back half of the field in Cup like Danica.

So a poster says HEADING for a top ten finish, and you interpret (gaslight) that to say somebody is saying she is a top 10 driver in her rookie year right now? Right there is your problem...credibility

Y'all are the ones hot and bothered by people calling out the lack of performance and calling out the endless excuseapalooza.

Soft bigotry of low expectations on full display.

She wasn't even heading for a top-10 finish. LOL.

Soft bigotry of low expectations. Because she's a girl, y'all think running in 20th place is good enough.

I'm out. This is pointless.

I don't have a problem with it as you seem to and it is the only troll leg you have to stand on..and it is worthless at present

The misogynist card is funny.

To me, it's misogynist to set Hailie Deegan up for failure in Cup by saying "average" or "good enough" is good enough.

I want to see a young woman like Hailie Deegan go out there and kick all the ass. I legitimately want to see these grown ass hick gomers lose their minds when a girl goes to Cup and wins a race. I was rooting for Danica Patrick for that very reason, and if/when Deegan contends for wins, I'll be cheering for her to win.

maybe you can have a talk with Menard, or Annett, or maybe one of the smaller track drivers who have the means to race.

Do you really want Hailie Deegan to be a driver who's just there because of sponsorship and Instagram followers?

That's what I mean by soft bigotry of low expectations. You're fine with average. You're fine with Deegan being a mid-pack driver. That's good enough because of TikTok I guess.

They ran out of money, like a lot of talented racers who win races and championships and can't afford to move up to NASCAR.

Doesn't bother me one bit. And once again, that is the only troll leg you can stand on besides the fake indigence you are trying to peddle. She is selling Fords and Monster energy. What is hilarious is that you think you know more than mega corporations about who they should support.

that means she is beating half of them every week in her first year:dirtbike:
How long should it take in this series for someone to consistently be a threat for the win or at least be a consistent top-5 competitor? How many years should she run trucks if she doesn't get a win?

Racing Reference has her average finish in the truck series at 20.8 for 20 CWTS races.

If you take out all the races she was in wrecks that she didn't cause, that number probably improves 5-7 spots. She might be a little slow, but at least she doesn't drive like a complete moron like many of the drivers around her.

I'm not sure a race car driver begins a driving career hoping to eventually sell energy drinks and vehicles.

That's not how racing works. Everyone has the same opportunities once they throw the green flag. If you run midpack or in the back you're more likely to get caught up in something not of your own doing.

I keep asking the same question about Michael Annett, and all I get is blasted for it.

Neither.

Instagram was in the future. Had to rely on results.
She is a brand ambassador for several sponsors and she promos her sponsors on social media.

Sponsors drive the sport and she’s fulfilling her role. This is nothing new and simply the natural evolution of how influencer marketing works. Before social media, it used to be called celebrity endorsements.

The difference is those two pictured above are winning drivers.

I get that, but when you are a rookie with limited experience and and you're getting wrecked all of the time, it's hard to improve. In several of the races I have watched she was generally moving forward, so who knows what happens if she actually gets to go the distance. Those races aren't that long anyway, and when you don't even get to run a big chunk of them, it makes it tough. Don't forget, no practice either. Don't get me wrong, I don't think she is first tier talent, I knew that when I saw her ARCA races. That doesn't mean she can't become a solid consistent driver though. Everybody always talks about how this driver or that driver should drop down and become the "face" of the Truck Series, well maybe she improves enough to grow into that role too.
You also answered your own question when you said your team dissolved from lack of funding. But you have a problem with teams that are
I don't have ANY problem with the teams, I have a problem with a driver that has basically sucked for years AND can control where the money goes not stepping aside and steering that money to a driver up to the level of the team. If Deegan hasn't improved in a few years, I would ask the same question about HER, except I don't think she has any control over where her sponsors spend their money.

So the team you were on were winning every race and still busted out? I would say probably is was of the majority of underfunded teams that didn't have the sponsorship to continue.
