'21 Generation 7 Car news

Not at all. The system they have works well and has for years. Teams have a perfectly good backup car that can be race ready in minutes. If they wreck that one they can use one of their teammates cars who has had better luck.
They use back-ups because it takes too long to fix original car. If they can swap front clip in couple hours then they will. Also these cars won't require fabrication of nose/front fenders, crush panels, etc. More time saved. Time will tell.

You or I aren't the ones that matter. ;)

Well considering I was going to 1-4 races a year for 3 straight years, NASCAR should think who they are catering to besides TV. The lack of Fortune 500 companies leaving is a bit apparent.

I can’t believe any car enthusiast wants to watch a governed motor series. I know I’m bitching but I don’t understand it.

every racing series I know of has "governed" as you call it horsepower

Sure but not every top form of racing has their top tier product on the latter have less power than their support series.

The fact that the Cup Series is slower than the Xfinity series is apalling.
That's your opinion, but you are not the target audience. Besides, unless you are hawkishly looking at lap times you can't tell the difference. The majority of fans could care less, they want close contact racing

Ya average NASCAR fans don’t notice the difference between real racing & artifical wake & aero racing. To be fair it is much better to watch the 550 racing in person than on TV.

That is where you and I differ, back when the ratings and attendance were at their lowest, that was the most aero dependent follow the leader racing Nascar had and they were going down the tubes. that's your sweet spot, but like Steve Phelps said those fans are a vocal minority :idunno:

2017 & 2018 ratings also coincided with Tony Stewart & Dale Jr retiring. I’m not entirely convinced here that the 550 package is keeping the ratings stable.

Welp, you and I aren't the ones paying the bills. The ratings were nose diving way before that. I franky don't know what the flat fotters will do this year, 670 down from 750 on road courses and short tracks

Man some of you are easily defeated. This subassembly would be exactly same width at the car. Have any of you replaced and engine in a FWD car? It all goes out the bottom. Subframe with all suspension attached, engine & trans as an assembly with wiring on it.

Level floor? They don't work in Motel parking lots anymore.
They don't have twin-post lifts at the track... Also we're not talking about a FWD unibody with a subframe that you can drop. It's the entire front third of the car cleanly detaching. Like Spotter22 said, you know how heavy it would be fully dressed like you described earlier? Installing a whole new front like that will still never be quicker than rolling the backup car off the truck, and since these chassis's will all be identical anyway, it means theres

I am ****** giddy over the new car. Fascinates the **** out of me. I cannot wait to get my ass to Sonoma and listen to them bang the gears heading into the uphill right hander (Turn 2?). Come on '22 already!!!!!! NASCAR got this right. Brilliant formula. Just awesome.

Rolling a backup off the truck is only the first step, you then must pull the engine out of the wreck and install in the new chassis. Changing the front clip would be quicker if it is complete and ready to go IMO

Jr insinuated it could be an option on his show. And the Chevy/RCR guy that was on it said they took a car wrecked by Byron that would have been totaled last year and had it fixed and ready to test within hours. If they made this car so easy to repair could it be to cut costs too which ultimately could mean a backup isn’t required?

Why was RCR and this Chevy guy made the lone developer? Seems kinda preferential to me?

Also, the Carson TV appear to be hatchbacks to me? Not crazy about that but if he racing is good won’t matter to me.

Right, they build these cars on surface plates and they dont have them at the track.

Them fixing the 3 car in roughly 8 hrs was impressive but I wonder how long that would be if done at the track? I mean the shop gives them idea working conditions and unlimited tooling. I would think rebuilding one in a garage stall at the track would be significantly slower.
