Hamlin and Busch Diqualified?

True. I wonder if paint is even still allowed, or if wraps are now mandatory?

Up until last year, or maybe the year before, HMS cars were still using paint in some races and vinyl wraps for others. I think the NAPA car was painted for Daytona and a wrap for most (if not all) of the other tracks. I think the Axalta car was always painted up until last year's new paint scheme. I think JJ's Lowe's cars were strictly vinyl wrapped one year when he went to the "Lowe's For Pros" scheme, then back to paint when Ally came on board.

I bring this up because if we're really talking about a small/thin piece of vinyl making a difference, then how come there wasn't any uniformity across the board in the Gen 6 era if there was an advantage one way or the other?
Sidebar....I saw Jeff Gordon's Drive to End Hunger car in Fontana in 2011....Fully painted candy apple red....and ****** gorgeous.

You keep referencing this. I see Bozi's tweet and Gluck's tweet embedded in your post. Am I missing something?
no way to prove it but I think the yotas were ratted out. Nascar made a rule specifically about messing with the aero right before Pocono, so I think they got wind of what was going on. Were they the only team doing that? Who knows. But one thing is clear they got caught doing it.

Hopefully all eyes remain on nascar and awaiting significant penalties for their blatant cheat. This is a serious test of the racing organization. HOW DEDICATED ARE YOU TO ENFORCING THE RULES? Based on the rules it should be a level 3 penalty. How Moody or others think there shouldn’t be any further penalty is insane.

Reading my pos #63 from Bozi...who is blocked by Moody which makes him credible explains this very well.
Is this true? And why? Is this something that Bozi has mentioned?
I have questions dammit!!!

Yeah, if you follow the thread, you will get the detail....No way to embed the entire thread that I am aware of.

Yes, he mentioned it...because Moody will not allow anybody who is smart to control his narrative which is not.

I agree, but ****, there was a rule issued. Pull the ****** tape off. Bozi mentions that they weren't the only manufacturer, but that doesn't matter, they got caught. My two cents.....Thought that if they got caught, they would get the "Don't bring this back again," conversation. They got that, and a little more.

Hard to disagree here. It doesn't make sense. If you get caught at the track, you get a certain set of penalties, if it's back at the R&D, it's a different set of penalties. Sounds like they want to know who won before everybody leaves the track. Everybody had already gone 1.5 hours after the event. Stupid. Want to know how I really feel? I want every Toyota coming out of that JGR shop inspected--23XI included, and penalized if necessary.....then, race on. I really don't care what the penalty is. Want to take US out of the playoffs? Fine. Each week is a championship for me, and last week, I was stripped of my title and elation. I am pissed. Don't do this again. I'd rather run at the back---as WE did when WE entered NASCAR--than put up with this ****.

I found this about paint and wraps, paragraph D

The way Moody made it sound like there might not be any further fines as this infraction was caught at the track resulting in the DQ. Fines and point penalties result from infractions found at the R&D center. This logic makes no sense to me. Why not cheat then if the win will stand as long as they can't find it at the track
Wonder if other teams knew of the "Modification" forcing the sanctioning body to act?

Yep, and they were doing it too. Doesn't excuse it, but Bozi alludes to this in Post #63.

No he didn't. Nothing was said about other teams doing it. Could they have been doing so or was it just the yotas? who knows for sure. One thing is for sure, game over for the yotas

Thanks, I'm not very good at Twitter, but I poked around and saw the thread. There's a lot of questions and speculation but not much else there. I did find this funny though.....

I don't think the extra tape/vinyl was used in a manner of altering or modifying any shape or profile or contours of the bumper cover/valance/airdam/splitter, because that would have been noticed during pre-race inspection.

I don't think it's simply a piece of flat vinyl on a solid part of the fascia laying flush somewhere under the wrap. If teams didn't care about painting vs wrapping their cars in the past to gain a perceived aero advantage, or strategic vinyl/decal placement, or adding decals on the surface as opposed to being printed in the wrap, or any of that stuff back when they had legal choices.........I don't understand why they would suddenly care now.

Someone in the twitter comments mentioned the vinyl under the wrap may have been covering some holes. That might be why NASCAR and JGR specified CLEAR vinyl, but didn't explain exactly where it was positioned on "the lower corners" of the fascia. That would suggest JGR cut the wrap like they normally would wherever there's supposed to be a hole, but it was actually covered by the clear vinyl. If that's the case, where are these holes located? And it would somehow be inconspicuous enough to pass pre-race inspection? I'm not buying it.

Dude.

I go with a Bozi guess over your assertion every day of the week. You know how this works. If other teams didn't see value, would they even know what they were looking at? How did they know that what they were looking at had value? Turn about is fair play. Better cover your **** up.

Hell I said the same thing lol. You are acting like it is gospel..it isn't

So are you saying what he is saying, or do you deviate when he talks about miscommunication in the shop? Bozi isn't gospel, but he says more than NASCAR does, and he makes sense. Surprised that you haven't brought up his TRD bias as a Lexus GT crew guy.....****.....I have to do everything around here. This week should be easy for you. You are off your game.....Nuggie grease causing you to slip off the keys.

Well no doubt JGR will claim “aw shucks…we accidentally missed that application of clear vinyl tape…couldn’t see it cause it’s clear…ha ha…but sorry so sorry, promise it was just a simple mistake..didn’t help the car one bit”.

Late Tuesday afternoon…would think car inspections are done at the R&D center. Jury is out….

Look bud, like I said, I was saying the same thing he was. But once again it could or could not be the only teams that were cheating.

Aren't first and second inspected every race? If you don't want to get picked, don't win.
Yes, plus other random choices.
Hard to say whether the 11 and 18 knew they were facing DQs. They had to have known the cars were headed for the microscope.
Under the current BS playoff format, it doesn’t really matter if a driver with an existing win gets DQ’d. They can still advance and win the last lap at race 36 and be crowned a champion. 🤷🏻‍♂️
That’s part of the silly of nascar.

so.i just dont understand. if you are in the playoffs and get dqed for it starts it means nothing,so the 11 and 18 get away with this??? but the 6 and 24 get hammered, wow it must be great be a toyota driver in toyotascar, this is just bs.:idunno::boxing::bigfight::owquitit::dual9mm:

That’s not good punctuation. Try again. Too hard to decipher.
😬

Oh they lost a bunch of money between the two, and driver and owner points while everybody else didn't except McDowell in the 34 he got hammered.

I will guess that the two DQs cut JGR‘s prize money by $500,000 ...
