Silly Season 2023

JRM should pull the trigger and buy a charter from BJ McLeod & Live Fast Motorsports 78.

Run the 88 Chevrolet again with Josh Berry and Hendrick help. Tire Pros (main sponsor), Harrison’s, Sun Drop, iRacing, HendrickCars.com, NationsGuard, Brandt, Hellman’s, Dale Jr’s Whiskey/Vodka as sponsors.
If only the business plan were that easy

If JR can't afford a $10mill cup charter, he damn sure can't afford to replace all of the cars that kid would destroy lol
There isn’t enough money in the world to put that kid in a championship caliber Xfinity car as far as I’m concerned. If Jr. needs his money THAT bad to keep the 9 car car running, then maybe he just needs to forget about being a car owner. At some point you have to decide what you’re all about. If you want to be the guy that will let ANYONE drive your cars as long as the check is big enough, then PLEASE don’t buy a charter. One Rick Ware Racing is enough in this sport. Jr, PLEASE don’t make us long for the days of Michael Annett.

Rick Ware, I mean all of the grief he's given has actually made money off of racing...

The man loves racing and has a hand in every discipline possible and his sponsors (Nurtec) I see really likes the exposure. If anything, he should be applauded for making it work. Getting Ford Performance to get the likes of Joey Hand in his cars.

That's pretty substantial.

The Cleveland Browns, the New York Jets And the Jacksonville Jaguars make money too, but is that REALLY the example we want to set? If I thought for one second that RWR was REALLY trying to improve their position in the sport like Trackhouse, Kualig or GMS are doing I would lay off, but they are just milking the system for personal gain and could care less about the sport. The other issue is that their drivers keep inserting themselves into the story line of the race by racing stupid and making REALLY bad calls. Backmarker teams like RWR should not be seen OR heard. Just stay out of the way and collect your prize money. As the DBC gang says, if you want to stop collecting “What An Idiot”awards and being made fun of on a major podcast, stop being idiots.

We may have differing definitions of 'making it work', at least as far as RWR's Cup operation goes.
I really believe they are a bit more competitive than what we give credit for. Especially the 15 on some weekends, I know the weelly caution memes are funny at times. However, we have seen Preece and Hand be impressive in the car. Also, Cody has had some very quiet finishes in the top 20, on pace.

It's not a doom and gloom, its about getting the right drivers in the car. Now, a few years ago when they were hoarding charters with four cars. Now, they are the proper size with two full-time cars. They are the worst out of thr chartered bunch, but they are much, much more respectable now.

Tell me you wouldn't be pleased to see a press release saying Trackhouse, 23XI, Kaulig, or Junior had acquired the RWR charters.

How much does RWR REALLY have to do with the car Preece drives? My guess is the biggest RWR involvement in that effort is hauling the car to the track. I wouldn't be shocked if the Hand situation is the same way. In my opinion, if they were REALLY serious about improving, Cody wouldn't be in the car at all. Lots of WAY more talented drivers out there in my opinion.

I'm unsure of the level of support RWR recieves from SHR. If I'm not mistaken, the car is prepped by RWR. However, they have some SHR support involved with it as well on the 15 car.

That's JMO, is Cody the best? Nah, he's far from it, but has become a bit more competent as tome has gone on. Does he have a tendency to make some odd mistakes, of course. Still, I like the makeup of the team more than before.

@Charlie Spencer I would hate to see Rick not on the listing. Does he have the best team, of course not. I still say RWR is one of the better backmarker team NASCAR has had, not as goofy like a Tommy Baldwin, BK Racing, Team Xxtreme, etc.

It's a solid organization, a lot better than it was.

I'm sure for rules purposes, Preece's car LOOKS like it is a true RWR car, but I have serious doubts about their input. Obviously the basic cars are identical, but I'll bet his has all the SHR tricks on it and I'll bet SHR people are calling all the shots on setups etc. If you like the team, that's fine, you can like whoever you want, but from a competition perspective, I have no praise for them. From a purely balance sheet perspective, maybe. It's much like my argument about Jr. Motorsports. JRM could field Michael Annett, Drew Dollar, Jesse Iwuji, and one of the Grays and have a world class balance sheet and never even SNIFF victory lane. What are you here to accomplish? If making money alone is the answer, I think there are FAR better ways to do it than owning race cars.

RWR putting Yeley in a seat proves they don't care about performance. Even when he had elite equipment, he was bad. I doubt his ability has improved in the last 15 years.

OK, but is buying a charter and having an automatic spot in the field and a certain amount of guaranteed revenue REALLY anything to brag about? This is not the days of Stacy Compton showing up at Martinsville and making the show when teams like Bill Davis, Bud Moore, Doug Bawel and Gary Bechtel went home.

Yeah I would say so. RACING IS A BUSINESS. It isn't bring a trailer ARCA

I miss Bill Davis.

Rick Ware’s cars are actually somewhat competitive this season, enough for me to stop whining, somewhat in part due to the SHR alliance. BJ McLeod & Live Fast need to show more speed though.

Maybe, but nobody is complaining about how BJ races. When Rick sells or leases all but one charter, funnels that revenue back into the team and hires an accomplished driver, I'll believe he is serious about fielding a competitive team. Until then, I'm just not buying it. I would say any improvement has to do with the more level playing field of the new car than any REAL effort on their part to be better.

Putting millions in your pocket over your initial investment isn't accomplishing anything. got it.
If you want to give Rick Ware credit for being a savvy businessman, fine, no argument. Just don't automatically equate that with being a successful race car owner. Rick Ware is relevant in NASCAR because he holds some asset that has value, not for anything he has accomplished in the sport.

Changing the subject again. Racing is a business. And contrary to your belief that isn't an accomplishment making millions in racing. He can spend that money any way he pleases. He paid the price to be the boss.

That's fine, he can do whatever he wants, but all I'm saying is that playing the system to make money makes him a good businessman, not a good team owner. If he wants to dick around and run 30th every week with little to no effort, fine, but lets not celebrate it or pretend it's something it's not. Mark Davis and Jim Irsay are billionaires (at least on paper) but it's NOT because they are brilliant football men, they simple control a valuable asset.

As usual, you are all over the place.

Look, it's this simple. Rick Ware is a businessman, no foul, no argument. Rick Ware is NOT a racer. He and his teams are contributing NOTHING to the sport. The best thing you can say about him is that he raises the value of the charters, which unless you are trying to sell one means nothing.

Well then pay the 20 mil to buy him out and see what you think you can do

The value of the charters is on the rise because of demand.

That has nothing to do with Mr. Ware.

Id be inclined to agree with you and I sort of do as you spar with the usual suspects you spar with here, the question I have is how does RWR raise the value of charters? I would think they’re going up due to the demand of charters, nothing specific Rick is doing unless I missed something. I do get the point you’re trying to make that just because Rick is making money with these charters doesnt make him a good car owner. He’s a good businessman sure but owner, not sure. They’re not mutually exclusive imo. They are getting faster though, Joey Hand has been fun to watch in the races he’s raced for them.

You just repeated the point made by one of the “usual suspects”.

Thanks for the support.
