Deegan update

Finishing 13th in her Xfinity debut is an accomplishment, I don't think anyone on here expected her to run that well.
Kinda where I expected her to finish. One would have to assume if it wasn't a fully prepared SHR car they at least had their hands in on it. I think being in a series where you just don't get constantly run over helps a ton too.

The real test is can she continue to run at this level?

Well done, Hailie. ^_^

As someone who doesn't follow the trucks or the Xfinity series, I found her comparison of her experiences driving the trucks vs. the Xfinity cars interesting. Sounds like she had herself some fun yesterday, although I'm sure that running and finishing well is always fun.

GREAT run. IMO, the best run of her entire asphalt racing career to date. If she can build on it and be a top-10 driver consistently, she would be the greatest thing to happen to NASCAR racing in a generation.

Maybe she has "it" after all. The test will be, can she continue to run this well consistently, and can she get up there without pit strategy?

SSGLR has an alliance with SHR, I don't think that's a secret.
Moffitt finished 10th in the 07 at Kansas and the terrible yet experienced driver Joe Graf is running in the high 20s most weeks.
I didn't see yesterday's race but according to RR there was only one caution for incident so
I assume the 13-place finish wasn't a fluke.

I couldn't be any happier to see her have a good finish in her debut in the Exfinity series. I hope they can keep a good car under her, and her confidence grows and she continuous to improve until she is at the front of the pack on a weekly basis.

Good run for her, I hope to see her do it more often but not holding my breath.

They don’t call him Slow Graf Jr. for nothin’. He DNQ’d in both an RCR and a Kaulig car, once upon a time.
He’s gotta be up there for the worst driver in any of the top 3 series. Especially the weeks when Iwuji isn’t on the track.

If my options for a driver are Hailie Deegan and Riley Herbst, I'm going with Deegan only because, if she becomes successful, she'll be the most electrifying presence in NASCAR in decades.

Definitely didn't expect that. Maybe the Xfinity card fit her wheelhouse.

There may be potential yet. I was ready to write her off as a bust/stunt but p13 is something to build off of. She looked better there than she did in her entire truck career so far.

I think theres something to be said in racing in a series that is not bumper cars

With DGR going to Toyota next year and Deegan
under contract with Ford, yeah, not sure where she will land.

Boot Terrible Herbst out of the 98, I don’t think Hailie would run any worse

Herbst's results have arguably been better than Deegan's results. 💀

In 2020, he had a win and three top-five finishes in four ARCA starts, compared to Deegan's four top-fives in 20 starts.

In Trucks, he's had two top-five finishes to Hailie's none and four top-10s to Hailie's three in 11 starts vs. 45 starts. He also had a top-10 in his Xfinity Series debut.

Deegan has the potential to be a game changer for the sport of the likes we haven't seen in a generation. Her Xfinity debut was solid. But let's not get carried away here. She still has A LOT to prove.

She sucks.

The fact is that he came into a team that won 9 races the year before, and hasn’t even sniffed victory lane since after almost 2 full seasons. He’s underperforming in Xfinity. She wouldn’t run better than him in that car, no. But it wouldn’t surprise me if she matched his results or came close. It’s one of the top cars in the field.

Look at Herbst's numbers vs. Deegan's numbers though. There's no comparison. I don't think people here have accepted how awful Deegan's career has been so far.

You are absolutely right. She’s been bad. But you can’t ignore that she’s far from the only one that’s been pushed without good enough results. I’m going to be interested to see after two years the comparison between them in Xfinity. (If she doesn’t get shoved to cup when Harvick retires after 2023:rolleyes:)

The difference here is how good the equipment is vs how bad the results are. I mean, this isn’t even Danica bad, this is Drew Dollar and Natalie Decker levels of bad.

Nobody is sitting here saying “Drew Dollar would improve if he moved up.” Because he’s not a hot girl.

:XXROFL:

Somebody will have to “buck up” in order to find out.

I wouldn’t take the bet. JMO, of course.

Dollar and Decker were a menace on the race track. Deegan's only sin is she isn't super fast.

Deegan would drive circles around Natalie Decker. Drew Dollar is comparable.

For @BobbyFord … that’s why you take Deegan over Herbst even if he’s statistically been better.

Higher ceiling. And she’ll rake in serious cash for the team she’s with next year. Especially if she keeps running like she has today and in that NXS race.
