11AM appointment tomorrow @ Raleigh Orthopedic.

11:30 Aug 8th to get sebaceous syst removed.

Back spasms have been relieved considerably this week. Believe quitting the bone-cracking was way to go. Maybe get an injection in L3/L4/L5 area tomorrow? Swear the "injury" was the motorcycle deal in 82 I think. Always had pain down low since.

I still got that 4" Dewalt cut-off wheel that I chopped my finger with last week. I'm getting good with it.

Interesting. It's Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic. My spell check says WRONG! Map shows it. Good thing looked at map because it's not where I was thinking.

Good luck!! Hopefully they'll find the problem and offer a sensible solution other than surgery. 👍
My guess for today:

XRays & here are some pills.

If the pills don't make it better in six months, we'll send you to therapy.

If that doesn't work by this time next summer, cortisone injection.

After that, sometime late 2027, maybe an MRI to see if surgery is necessary. Insurance companies run the medical community. Not Doctors.

My expectations are VERY low. I will buy another inversion table and get it permanently set-up on the porch. Join gym where can spend time in pool.

But may surprise me and pump full caulking gun of good feeling stuff in there today? IDK. REALLY don't want the pills. Previous experience wasn't pleasant or beneficial at all. And that was just Flexeril.

Sheesh!! They sent to you to the other side of the moon from Wendell. Anyway, I was a patient there about 2012 when I had shoulder surgery. Was more than pleased. No b.s., gave me options and after making my decision scheduled appointment to have surgery.

20ish miles. All "interstate" so not bad.

Says I'm a whoosie. Arthritis mainly. Gave me couple prescriptions and a shot of some sort at RH SI joint. No change yet. Said might take couple weeks to get full effect. Mainly said was gonna send SWAT TEAM to remove & destroy my recliner.

Gave me info about stretching and exercises to do. Once get huge sebaceous syst removed from between should blades, sign up for gym and get moving!

Prescriptions are ready. Now have to pry my lazy azz out of recliner to go get them. Stopped there on way by about 20 minutes ago. Oh well. Let's do this thing. Some good drugs. Great thing about retirement. Have no where to be. Can get all drugged out, no worries.

Something has taken the edge off when getting out of chair. Tomorrow morning will tell the tale. Need to start doing my Jane Fonda <Steel Magnolias (1989)>

While not as dramatic a change as I expected so far, huge "chiropractic pop" down low while doing dishes. Just standing there and either it adjusted or I sharted. Haven't smelled anything so pretty sure something moved in my back. Not my shorts.

Was doing my occasional pawn shop tour, wearing back brace, mentioned to a guy been to Orthopaedic Clinic (still confused about that spelling) and had a shot of something. He said he's had several. Said took about 3 days for it to kick-in. Back is 70% better than was last Sat. So we gaining.

Haven't done any of the rec. exercises. First of the week we gonna make something happen. Start walking to Hardee's/McDonalds every morning. Mile going counter-clockwise to Hardee's or McDonald's, 3ish miles clockwise. No pit-road speed limit either way. NC loves their "loop roads". Lisle's Dean Rd.

Coming into Wendell turn right off Wendell Blvd onto Lisle's Dean road. Drive 2 ish miles and tee into...Wendell Blvd. Comes out right next to Micky Dee's, Hardee's across Wendell Blvd on left. If turn left at light onto....Wendell Blvd, go past Hardee's/Subway/DMV office/Domino Pizza/Chinese Restaurant/Soon to be Jersey Mike's, drive .7 mile. On left? Lisle's Dean Rd. Again. Loop-de-loop. There is Carver Elementary school on Lisle's Dean road perfectly positioned half-way around. As close to perfectly flat place to walk you could want. Early, zero traffic. Two-lane maybe 30 foot wide road thru farm land. Just do search for Carver Elementary. I'll bake a cake.

Take care of that back. Follow instructions from the doc and do whatever PT they recommend. Back pain is nothing to take lightly.

I found walking definitely helped my back. It is hard to get started. Who wants to rise in the morning and start their day thinking, "yup. Gotta get my walk in.?" Not many I know unless you're trying out for the Olympics and doing a workout like Katy Ledecky, 4:30 a.m. and swimming every day!! Will power. Mental stuff. Not race car driver.
I know as much as I hate to make myself walk I really feel better and full of p & v once it is done. Takes awhile though.
Living in Raleigh in a section of the city that had wide sidewalks and low traffic save for Leesville Road, it was a quiet time and good chance to meet the neighborhood dogs as their owners were out walking them. I walked five miles a day back then. No more. Today, there, walking with a buddy.

Anyway, start walking and keep at it. It actually gets to the point your conscience squirts on your brain to remind you it is time and failure to take that walk causes great internal and mental stress and abuse from your conscience will be of a greater nature than if you do get up and walk to help your back. Good shoes are a must though.
For the first time in my life time, that's on the downside of 87, I found shoes that fit and feel like they are a part of my feet. I spent my working days on concrete and never had shoes for like the ones I have now and do they ever make a difference. Anyway, good shoes!! Remember that. Good Shoes.
Best hing is, they are fully made in the good ole U.S. of A.

I'll add to this. Once you get comfortable walking and the pain is less, advance to walking on an incline. Obviously, start with a slight incline and progress to steeper angles. Also, walking backwards on an incline will strengthen the back muscles surrounding the spinal column.

Cutting the muscle spasm medicine back to twice day as every 8 hours made me too drowsy. Not same as the Flexeril back in 1996 but enough. Back is pretty decent. Didn't walk today. I'll get going eventually. I need the shed done. That way be able to go fumble around with something. Breathe some better air.

Hey Bud!! Hope you start feeling better. Sometimes the cure is worse than the injury. Bride had same issue with pain killer doctor gave her. Knocked her for a loop and had to make change.

Can't wait for your next adventure. You know, the one that comes post shed rebuild. It was interesting getting through the tranny rebuild; or is that still in the wings? I forget. Been hanging on to every post of the trials of shed building. What's next? A fusion lab in the shed? Or an atom blaster?

Ordered a thing. We'll see if it helps.

Trans rebuild is pending until shed is done. Plus have to save money for rebuild kit. Pretty unlikely it ever happens if being honest.
Definitely makes shed completion a priority. Gotta cover those unfinished projects. I've got a table I started refinishing and now ready for three coats of polyurethane. Any chance I could store it in your shed when you get it enclosed and watertight? Got no place to store unfinished projects here in Florida.

Your cajoling has pushed me to the edge. Sarcasm noted!! Got off my a$$ and put second coat of polyurethane on tables. They look good, wet. My Bride is happy, I'm proud of myself for getting closer to completing my goal of three, four or more coats to seal the deal. All because of you. You da man!!! Just needed that extra push. 😁

Hope your back is easing up a bit and you are feeling much better. 👍

Some disassembly required to get inside. 4 bolts held table onto frame, 4 bolts held pad to table. Probably didn't have to remove the pad but just trying to reduce weight. I need to build some shelving. After poking around for some to buy, nope. I'll use some of the 2x4 was for shed. Replace them when needed. Buy a sheet or two of 1/2" plywood. Build shelves in closet and another on wall. Doesn't have to be pretty/cabinet finish stuff. I ain't that particular. Considering turning bed 90 degrees. Don't really remember why I set it up like it is. Going to donate headboard and vanity mirror or scrap them if they don't want them. Just in the way. Inversion table has a massage/heating pad. Meh. We shall see. Can't see how could possibly be bad for the back. Had one before that wasn't as nice.

Drove to Hardee's this morning. Came out, truck won't start. Very slight click on first attempt then nothing. Dash lights on and stay on when cranked. Walked home and got some tools. Walked back. Right as I got there, trailer park owner pulled in beside me. Told him what's up. Checked battery connections. NPF. He had old pair jumper cables. Tried and nothing. Not a click, no smoke nor nothing. OK. Take me home and let me print off wiring diagram and think about it.

Suspect the starter died. Don't have the tools to test it easy way anymore. Have to take a jack and jackstand, go underneath to connect to starter and see if it will spin over. But could bust lose torpedo'ing any time. WTD? Supposed to go to Dermatologist tomorrow morning. Guess that won't happen. Kinda expected them to cancel anyway.

Need to ask park owner to take me and floor jack to Hardee's so can test my starter issue. Just hate asking anyone for help. Probably wait till Friday or Saturday. Like to just drag it home.

Ordered a starter. Testing? We don't need no stinking testing. After some thought, think this is exactly what it did when starter last died. 29 dollar lasted 7-8 years? Need to replace battery too. Way too old. Been kicking right off.

New one was 52 ish this round. Amazon. Supposed to be here Friday but weather?

Yo!! Sparky! How ya doing in Wendell? Watching the weather map and it looks like Raleigh area is getting pounded with wind, rain and tornadoes. You okay where you're at? Daughter in Wilmington said they had a deluge but no major flooding. Other kid in Mooresville getting rain but the pattern is crazy with rain circling around Charlotte and a band headed from the coast through your area and into the Queen City. Stay safe. Keep us posted.

Area I'm in has no issues with flooding. Torpedos went all around me but don't think any made it to the ground anyway. Did have report from ABC11, was driving thru Zebulon around 3:30AM, that said the rain had made the road wet with occasional darkness. I swear to Dog. The darkness had receded when I walked to mailbox around 11AM. I was up for few hours worrying about the darkness...slept in after.

Heard there was one in Louisburg but don't know if it touched down or did damage. They skirted around saying, "tornadoes reported in Louisburg , then dropped it.
Anyway, good to know you are safe and dry and able to see daylight. Check outside around 8 p.m. and let me know if it is daylight or dark.

Truck is home. Park owner took me down with jack & stands. Few more tools. Jacked it up and did couple tests with test light. Had juice to starter and found end of solenoid was warm from 10 or so attempted cranks. OK! Reach thru over tire/under exhaust manifold an tappy tap tap tap on solenoid with hammer handle and she crunk right up. Put tools away, let it down. I'll swap starter at home once ground dries up little.

Starter is in. It works! Found the problem with other. The nut wasn't tight enough at connection that goes into case/brushes. Just needs a new solenoid.

Conducting clean-up/audit of expenses. Cancelled Prime/Peacock/YouTube Premium/etc. Just tired of being broke every month. Try to hold off on renewing anything till Oct to see where I stand. Gotten habit of spending down to less than 20 bucks at end of month. Found a transmission core I really need very close for 50 bucks. After looking at bank account and pending expenses, can't afford to spend 50 bucks. Ridiculous. Plus the 100ish dollar spending at Hardee's/McDonalds. Really need a gym membership. Supposedly my Medicare Advantage Plan pays for a membership just have to find where. Am getting really bored sitting at home.

Paused Sling until December too. I really need to get the shed built. Need something to do. Back won't get any better until I get outside doing something.

Just did something I wasn't expecting to ever do again. Points & condenser in 1953 Farmall tractor. Maybe 3rd time done it. Didn't remove distributor either cause I'm a masochist like that. Not much room and looking at it around a corner kinda...couldn't have gone better. But fact you can't really see made it easier, cause I can't really see unless 5 foot away or more. My arms ain't that long.

Weird ass points. The "spring", which is also what sends current to the coil, is a flat piece of metal attached solidly to the pivoting side of points body. It broke off old one. You have to wind the spring up and attach it to an insulated stud thingy that sticks out body of distributor, as you get the points on a pivot pin, hold in place while putting the screw in. Screw is maybe 1/4" long. Including the head. Maybe 4 threads. I did it all while looking for squirrels as YOU CAN'T SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING ANYWAY! Put both screws back in with finger tip first time.

I was impressed. Owner was standing 28" away holding flashlight...in broad daylight. Just seemed like thing to do I guess.

Set gap with piece of paper. You can't see **** so whatever.

Runs like a new one!

He gave me 40 bucks. Whole thing might have taken an hour. Tried to refuse it. He's a good dude. I'll turn the 40 bucks into another transmission core tomorrow. Local guy has a 298mm 4x4. (fits original small block & 4.3) Can use the bellhousing/front pump/pump stator & input shaft to build one for my truck with parts I already have. It being a 4x4 means I have option of building a 2WD or 4WD to sell later.

I didn't remember how these were made. Pretty odd being one of the contacts is separate from main body.

Got transmission. Took 2 hours to get to his house when should have been under 30 minutes. My phone seems to have quickly developing Alzheimer's. I entered his address. WAZE got all confused and sent me to Willow Springs'ish when he is between Garner & Cary, said I was at location, nope. Was looking for four digit address, Ended up at very short road with maybe 15 houses ending in cul-de-sac. House numbers were 3 digit. Took me to 111. Said YOU HERE!

Then my phone started dropping Verizon signal, over & over. Kept alerting lost signal. I think it's probably the battery failing. After some thought seems to happen when it's plugged in/charging. It just completely freaks out. Right as i was thinking about just going home, guy sent me his phone number. Called him and explained I'M LOST! Where the hell are you, asked are you between here & here. Uhhh? yeah i guess. Off XYZ road. OK. That's where I thought you were. WAZE has lost it's mind. Got Garmin out of glovebox and entered address. Bingo. Drove there, got trans, took maybe 20ish minutes to get home.

Got trans apart. 3/4 clutch pack cooked which is quite normal/expected. Only hard part that was obviously worn is lower planet. Has everything i need. Cursory inspection. Be working on getting shed done soon. Then can get more into cleaning & inspection.

Just upgraded my Internetz from 500^ to One Gig ^. Said would send new equipment in 3-5 days. My previous experience is equipment might be here tomorrow morning. At latest Monday. But right after clicking the button modem went down as got rebooted from their end. Only cost 10 bucks more. Why not?🧐
