Tooth pain came back last night with a vengeance. Could not lay in bed. Kinda slept in recliner in sleeping bag. Went to dentist office. Entered like the Kool-Aid Man! Took me straight back and after slapping me around some for not coming in sooner, flushed out the toothy hole, shoved a 4 foot X 4 foot piece of goop covered gauze in the hole, said bite down gently.
Gently? After you beat the chit outa me?
Actually most of that is BS. I did just pop in and ask if they received my appointment request...some confusion...dental assistant that helped with last extraction saw me & said come on back. What's going on? Like we were best friends. Found the Doc...come here. Shoved me in first cubicle and said we'll just do it now. Doc came in, looked in my piehole and said yep. "Dry socket. That location is probably the worst for this happening. I'll fix it!" Maybe? Flushed/stuffed and out the door. Said if not 100% better by morning, get your butt back in here. Prescriptions for antibiotics (which my understanding, not best practice) medical grade mouthwash and a syringe to squirt it in the hole.
After little more research, really nothing much can be done except keep the trash flushed out and let it heal over. Anything dentist does is purely palliative and somewhat delays the healing. Takes time for skin to grow over the bone. So...it's get tough time.
