Ty Gibbs Appreciation Thread

I hate most of the Toyota drivers too but it took guys like Larson, Byron, Elliott and Logano about 100 races to be consistently battling for the win. It’s not easy to run top 5 in the cup series and Ty is doing it regularly in his second full time season. He’s gonna be a top guy for the next 20 years.
If Gibbs does win a race, he will, depending on his other stats fit in with the three drivers I am posting. I think if you look at the top 5's and 10's you will see that Gibbs is a bit behind.
I think people have been listening to a bit of puffing when it comes to Ty. The yota fans of course are talking Ty up. But compared to Larson who had little experience on pavement and driving for a second tier team I posted Larson's Cup stats.

I care little if the toe headed golden child wins a race or not. I don't like the little prick.
Now is this the kind of "don't like" until he changes teams/manufacturers, or is the lasting kind of hatred? WE've seen this from you before.

Don't **** with his flow. He doesn't mean what he says.....he is just seeing red. Yesterday was a long day for him....looked good for a long time. Won't be long now.

But you are not biased, so we truly appreciate your objective evaluation. First two years for each.....no wins. You said that he would be overdue. You are trying way too hard. Loads of crap man.

Look at the top 5's and 10's. in comparison. Sorry, the Gibster isn't the second coming so far, the Camaro like front end might help them in their front end of the month contest.

You are working way too hard. Wasn't your point wins? Ty is just fine. Go play in the Hendrick News Thread....they still have a team don't they? Haven't seen much of them the last couple of weeks.....

Working too hard lol, child's play. Those Camaro/yota copycats are hilarious.

Like many others, I was turned off by his antics and immaturity in Xfinity series and reaction in one of his early races in the Cup Series. Losing his father gave him a wake up call and almost overnight turned him around on several fronts.
Ty Gibbs was born with a silver spoon in his mouth but he has proven himself very early in his career. Knowing he had the best equipment and team members to support him is making his climb to the top easier but in the end, he is sitting in the driver's seat and he is getting the job done.

Gibbs is on the cusp of winning a race and once he breaks through will likely win many more. I expect he’ll contend for championships too.
Second in points....but, @StandOnIt has him as overdue. Love this. Ty took what the car would give him yesterday. Great drive.

We might make the final 4 THIS year. If he pops off 2 wins he has a very good chance at it. Still early but he’s been very very good so far.

I agree he will win many more. My next bold prediction is that he wins OVER 5 races this decade.

Ty in....and the guy he replaced out. Love it.

Sound the alarm. This team is a mess. Rookie crew chief paired with a high profile grandson of the owner who hasn't won? I don't get this move, and I don't think Allen makes it through the year. SMDH.

How about the narrative surrounding Ty Gibbs? We are seeing a pattern of douchebaggery from ARCA to Xfinity to Cup like we have never seen before. You can call it "swagger" and I'll call it what it is, a spoiled punk who needs to mature a ton before he should be in Cup.

^ my post from a few years back. Still accurate. Toddler Ty is still an immature douchebag, and he's in way over his head.

Ty Gibbs is the future of Cup racing. There are very few people who can match his talent. He's adjusted quickly to the Cup cars and is likely going to win some races sooner than later.

John Hunter Nemechek is way up there on the talent scale too.

^ I found this comment humorous then, and it's even funnier now

This was the weekend Ty decided he was good enough to buy a ride in a 410 sprint car with only a few laps on a track. He didn't make it a half a lap in the feature before he rolled it. I think he is working on humility by humiliation. BTW Kyle Busch is doing part of the announcing.

His last chapter has not been written. Refresh my memory....When was the last act of said douchebaggery? I do not think a rookie crew chief was the right direction.

Maybe needs to check his booster seat for sabotage?

I have no idea what the issue is, but this thing is going south in a BIG hurry. He quickly went from being the guy you were sure was going to be the next first time winner to an absolute afterthought.

Must admit I'm surprised it has gone the way it has for Gibbs. He has all the tools but is suddenly mired in a lack of talent. He showed great promise in Xfinity but now is like a flickering candle.

It doesn't help that there seems to be an article every week about his slumping. I think they screwed up in not having any Xfinity rides available for Ty. Sometimes those can do wonders for slumps with a good outcome.

Kind of what I said, right?

I think they screwed up by pairing a 0 time winning driver with a 0 time winning rookie crew chief. Gabehart better get loosened up. Been a great ride a Competition Director.

He has really fallen off since the Roval last year. I think his problem is this, he is a very talented and very aggressive driver. He used that to run through the field to victories at every level he's been at. The problem is Cup is full of grown men with the best equipment, best talent, and lots of aggression. You're just not going to run over Denny Hamlin and think you won't wind up in the wall on the next lap. He has to find a new way to win races

I’m rewatching the Full Throttle series on Netflix (23 season). Interviewing Logano he talks about coming to JGR at 18 with everyone knowing his name and the high expectations of him. He talks about going from winning in everything to no wins. “And then I lost my job”. He says moving to Penske “the stars aligned” for him and success returned. The change made the difference for Logano. Leaving JGR can’t be in the cards for Ty, he’s a legacy. I think he’d quit driving before he left to drive for another team.

Leaving a “family” team is not unheard of…Jr did it…but can’t see Ty doing it.

I guess you can say Jr. left. Some of us would say he got ran off.

What Ty wanted Ty got.
Very possible. Bad move. I can't get my head around how a rookie crew chief is a good thing for a driver who was (and now has) on the brink of losing all of his confidence.
