2015 Daytona 500 Pre Race Thread

He's back in the 55 primary car this year so I think that he'll get a top 10 or 15.

Smoke has a very good starting spot for him in this race, don't know if it will help him win but that sure would be great.

Anyone watching xfinity qualifying? Another ****show. You can't qualify like this on plate tracks. This is dumb.

Kyle said it best, he would have gotten in trouble.

Just keep it single car runs because someone could really get hurt in this situation. F*ck the show, have that for the race and outside festivities. Keep this for road courses, I have no problem with groups there, but here? Just bull****.

This race is almost going to go up against the Oscars. With a starting time of nearly 4PM the two should meet up as far as when they're both on I think.

Waltrip got like, 2 top 5 finishes in 2013 at Talladega 1 and Daytona 2. Remember him running up front at the end of the 2013 Daytona 500 too but Fox Sports shows he finished 22nd, however led 4 laps.

But in 2014, he was mediocre at best, 16th was his best finish.
Then you best bet on Kurt.

I have a weird/eerie feeling about today. I'm hoping it's just the aftermath of the Busch crash that's weighing on me. Feels like everything that has happened this speedweeks is just an appetizer for something big that's going to happen soon.

It will be nice to at least have some form of protection on that inside wall now. That tire barrier will definitely help dampen the hit but it will bounce those cars off pretty violently as well.

Tire barriers are a double-edged sword. Just look at some of the wrecks at Watkins Glen. Better than concrete walls but worse than SAFER barriers.

Got the fresh 8" of snow dug and plowed out of my and my neighbor's driveways. A few minor bits a maintenance on our family fleet of vehicles and I'm going to be ready to crack open a cold one or twelve to watch this race today. I'll make sure that I toast to your favorite driver winning the race. That is, if it's Dale Earnhardt Jr. :D Go Jr.!!!!!

There will be a pall over this race today. I hope for an exciting race with a fantastic finish most of all I hope for driver safety above all else.

I strongly disagree that there will be a pall over today's race and there should not be. It is unfortunate that Kyle was injured but no one died and the world didn't end. Stick and ball players are knocked out of games every day and some never come back to play again. That's life!

I understand the disappointment but I do not understand the the navel gazing and all the boo hooing like someone's best hunting dog just died. Kyle is alive, he is about to be a father, has a wife who loves him and is wealthy beyond his wildest dreams. His career will be interrupted for a few months...BFD......the sky ain't fallin'

reading an old magazine, it said Gordon led lap 1 of his first Daytona 500. i'll give all Gordon fans a break if he happens to lead the final lap today.:D
