Nobody in their right mind wants to voluntarily scorch in the stands of Daytona in July in the middle of the day.

Hell ****** no.
Back in the day they use to start the race at 10am to avoid the mid afternoon heat. But yes I agree with you it would be brutal lol

Ive done my fair share of carrying & nursing poor souls in the student section who have passed out in the august heat during football games.

Attending a july day race at daytona is suicide.

I take it you guys must work in offices...... I work outside all day..... been to the races you guys were mentioning... never had a problem.... but.... have been to them with my bosses and co-workers that weren't used to the heat and they looked like lobsters..... I felt sorry for them... but.... also thought....''You guys might want to appreciate a little bit more what I do every day while your butts are in the A/C''............

I did the Atlanta race on Labor Day in 2014 and during the day it was no doubt as bad as FL.
That's exactly why I wish Darlington's race was still on Mother's Day.
I take it you guys must work in offices...... I work outside all day..... been to the races you guys were mentioning... never had a problem.... .
But I'll bet you wouldn't object to cooler weather. I've never seen anyone in the stands at Labor Day saying, "Gosh, I wish it was 20 degrees warmer."

HMS tried bringing cars that handled good to the July race last year to try and exercise their demons from February and it didn't work, they were terrible. Chase was decent, got up to 4th at one point, but other than that they couldn't really get anything going.

on the other hand, been to Richmond race in feb. and it was snowing, beers freezing in the cans.....

Also went to the 2002 Pepsi 400 night race, it was hot as you know what. People passing out waiting for the bus back to the far away parking lot. I think I got out of there at 2am... sorry to get off track here....

I was just going to tell my wife to record the Duels, forgetting they were moved to the evening. Glad I looked here.

“I think their two‑car speed is greater than our four‑car speed," Busch said during Media Day. "When they're able to get their two cars together, they obviously can do a really good job. I mean, us four together, we're up front leading the race. They came up through there, got together nose to tail, the 2 and 22 pushing them. They started pulling us apart, able to get up front, up towards the lead. Certainly with that fact right there, it shows that they're pretty good.”

Three Cars Fail Duel Post-Race Inspection

AJ Allmendinger, Chris Buescher and Martin Truex Jr. will have to start at the rear of the field in the Daytona 500 after their respective cars failed post-race inspection for the Can-Am Duel.

Allmendinger was the highest finisher among the trio - fourth in the second Duel and was scheduled to start 10th in the 500. Both Allmendinger and Truex, who finished seventh, will also lose the points they scored in the Duel.

Buescher - Allmendinger's JTG Daugherty Racing teammate - finished 16th.

All three cars failed at the height station in inspection.

Truex will now start 35th with Buescher and Allmendinger 37th and 38th, respectively.
