2017 - Daytona 500 - Pre Race Thread

I am REALLY REALLY stoked about seeing that yates power under the 10's hood.

Is it crazy to be excited for NASCAR? I mean with all the belly-aching around here, I feel out of place if I'm excited ;)

Before Chase Elliott , every race in '13,'14,'15 I would listen to Danica's radio. I would say 85%
of the time , her complaints were directed at handling. Rarely, but there were some, on power.
For some reason I don't expect that to change. She has to be completely comfortable with the handling
before we can expect her to consistently be in the top 20. My(crazy) theory is her hands and 100# body
are much more sensitive to the cars suspension performance than that of a 175# stronger male
driver. Plus I think the male driver is more apt to settle for I got what I got and I need to try to adapt
instead of throwing the sink at it and possibly make it worse. Plus I think she leans too much on the
conservative side. I think its time she gambles on the aggressive side more this year.

Too many story lines happening not to be excited. Can't wait to get to 3 or 4 races every Sunday!
Love my breakfast with F1.

Am I the only one who's friggin annoyed that the Nascar website race center isnt showing the amount of practice laps run? Arrrrggg!

I suspect they'll post it when practice is over. I don't recall them show in live practice scoring last year, but I've forgotten more important things than that in the last 3 months.

EDIT http://www.nascar.com/weekend-schedule.html and look for the 'Results' link to be posted after practice. See last nights sessions for examples.

They've always shown the amount of practice laps run and that's why I'm annoyed. Plus it looks like **** compared to last year.

Usually. I suspect the #37 might use the same car for both.

No they are different cars. They are using two different schemes for the Clash and the 500.

I'm starting to wonder how much racing we will get to watch today.

Thinkin' this one is the 'tona car.

The 'dega car is the backup........

Someone will tell us shortly.

Then they'll tell us why whatever the guy said was screwed up.

Looks like the clash will be good to go tonight. But the arca race IDK.

Did they ever say anything about the guy who flipped? I know the #5 and #7 drivers were okay but never saw where the other guy had gotten out of the vehicle.

I didn't see him get out of the car myself, but I saw him taking the wheel off and he seemed good to me. They took him to the hospital but I don't know what the injury was. I'm having a hard time getting any news.

Yeah I seen him moving around too but that was an absolute nasty hit. Hell the flip didn't worry me, the initial hit did. That was a soft roll over.
