2019 Atlanta-- Pre-Race Thread

47 years ago today, A.J. Foyt wins the Daytona 500

Can't do Atlanta without mentioning the tires she eats them up. Different left sides for both the Cup and Xfinity, trucks are no change

I have to think while Atlanta eats up tires, the tire life should be extended a bit compared to last year if this package reduces speeds. Fuel mileage should also increase.

For those asking about practice...FOX will NOT broadcast Friday practices beginning before 3 PM Eastern this season. Those will be available here: https://www.nascar.com/live

To offer NASCAR fans a consistent start time for Friday programming in 2019, FOX Sports is featuring a multi-hour block of Fast Friday programming each race weekend, beginning Friday, Feb. 22 from Atlanta. Delivering highlights of the morning and early afternoon on-track activity, news and feature content, along with practice updates, Fast Friday begins each week at 3:00 PM ET and includes live coverage of MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES qualifying. All Friday MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES practice sessions taking place prior to the 3:00 PM ET window are offered via live streaming on NASCAR.com at https://www.nascar.com/live in 2019.

If Fox is really concerned about 'offering fans a consistent start time', how about do something about the races themselves? o_O

Don't tell me it's chicken salad when I can see for myself it's a different poultry by-product.

:idunno: what are you ranting about? you been eating bad chicken again Charlie.

They drop practice coverage and tell us it's for our benefit? Start the races at 1 or 4, if they're interested in consistency. Sheesh.
I'll give ya a couple of what if's.
What if on Nascar com. practice is commercial free
What if Nascar.com and it has already happened, we were able to see the test at Vegas
What if Nascar continues to expand their coverage, to after race interviews, mid week races, lower series shows, after all they own the joints to do it..kinda like a Nascar network?

Not sure how different this package is from last year in terms of the OSS, but do you guys remember Atlanta 2015 and the debacle that was pre-qualifying inspection? Holy moly what a **** show. I hope we don't get a repeat of that.

Also, weather looks pretty good once again for this weekend, I hope that encourages folks to come out. The last 2 years the crowd has been decent.

Not a problem. It's Fox's BS line that they're dropping coverage as a convenience to users.

Weather is looking better and better. If your close then get your butts to the track this Sunday. It’s my Christmas present from my woman and I’m pumped. New package or whatever I’m excited to be at the track again. Let’s pack this joint out!

Excited for this weekend. The new package creates interest. Love this. Let's go!

Is Upper Earnhardt good?

I loved the old track configuration. 1 1/2 mile track with 1/4 mile straights. The Cup series put on some great shows there. I liked the fact it was always the season finale. I was fortunate enough to be there the day Kulwicki won his title. That place was packed. And the race was fantastic. I've wished a million times they would have left that track as was. My plans are to make next years race with some of my buds.

To clarify, we rode around with the 22 for a while, then the 11 for a while. The view was the same.
The conversation had nothing to do with what was happening on the track.

Damn. I'm glad that I didn't look into it.
