2024 NASCAR Schedules

I really have no desire to see this type of racing in the Middle East or even overseas for that matter. 1-2 Street Courses a year here on this continent, even in this country is more than fine. Let's not lose sight of what made NASCAR, NASCAR. Beatin an Bangin on ovals across the country. If there's a way to do an exhibition maybe overseas, great lets do it. But I dont have any desire to see a street course Cup Points race contested over there, this isnt mid 90's CART. I probably am missing the boat on this thinking but I thought the whole reason for this new car was to keep costs down for the owners? I think street racing in Europe and wherever else might be lucrative at first maybe but then I'd bet you get the to point of diminishing returns by keep going over there. But what do I know..... I was one of the one's that hated the idea of racing in Chicago and I was incredibly, terribly wrong.

Nice I agree. Plenty of areas of the US that haven’t had the opportunity to get a Cup race. I’d prefer Montreal and/or Mexico City over Europe.

I'd be cool with it at Surfer's Paradise.

Any kind of race in the Middle East is asking for trouble. They could build Martinsville, Rockingham or North Wilkesboro in the middle of The Sandbox and I would have no desire to watch it.

Surfer's Paradise was my favorite CART circuit.

I mean I've had this idea in my head for a one off for 2026 for the US 250th birthday. Freedom 250 Street race in Philadelphia.
I created 3 possible circuits for this.

First up is the Stadium Complex Course

I don't love it and it's not my preferred choice but it be the most feasible.

2nd is my preferred the Art Museum Course. This be so difficult but it be unique. And puts it in an iconic location. It races from the Art Museum down to love park and city hall. I wanted to run a track around Independence Hall for the tie in the 250th celebration, but those streets are cobblestones and way way to narrow.

Lastly is the Boathouse Row, Fairmount Park Circuit...I think it's too big, I had too many roads that didn't go where I needed them to and have a real ugly hairpin at the top. But it would be a nice park setting.

Yeah, doesn’t seem entirely right. Guys like Stern and Pockrass haven’t mentioned anything about a June date. The weekend Sonoma has occupied the past few years is the same weekend the Canadian GP is on the 2024 F1 calendar.

The Xfinity races there were in August.

Lol, yeah this guy is a long way from the inner circle of Nascar, but with only a couple of three venues that can hold a race in Canada it's a good guess.

This is probably more for 2026-2027, but it looks like the negotiations are continuing.

Goodyear is holding a tire test on the IMS oval next month:

“We just feel like there’s enough discussion around potentially going back to the oval in the future, let’s go ahead and take the opportunity to get on that racetrack in the old configuration with the Next Gen car,” Stucker told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “We haven’t run the Next Gen car on the oval, we’ve only run the road course.

Scuttlebutt from The Athletic that Texas might be losing their playoff race

And for those that are subscribers…

There’s also a reddit rumor going around that Richmond II could become a midweek race to help NBC carve out an Olympic break. That one sounds more plausible than usual from over there.

If this happens, they will have to move the second race from where it is, possibly back to July 4 weekend.

I thought the Olympics were every four years? Weren't they last year?

Technically, every two years. The Winter Olympics were last year, and don't affect NASCAR since the Daytona 500 is on Fox. The Games of the XXXIII Olympiad (Summer Olympics) are next year, and affect NASCAR because NBC has the summer races.

I'm more interested in seeing what happens with the Rolex 24 and Speedweeks.

I know there's a running joke on Twitter about "at least they don't have to worry about January games because it's the Jaguars hur dur" from people that don't realize Trevor Lawrence exists, but that's more of the scheduling conflict I see.

And honestly, I think Daytona's going to return to the 4th of July weekend eventually, so might as well make it sooner than later.

Just run the damn Rolex while the Jaguars are playing..... in all seriousness I agree with you. People are sleeping on The Jags and Trevor, I think they're gonna be good enough to host a playoff game and many playoff games in the coming years. It is interesting you think about the July4th Daytona race returning, I thought the whole reason it moved was that the city wanted it moved that weekend to get a tourist bump from the race a different weekend.

But, if they host the Jaguars, they're getting a Firecracker 400 crowd multiple times during the fall.

that will be something to keep an eye on with the new TV deal coming as its widely assumed there's going to be a "Streaming" portion of the schedule and Amazon looks to be the leader in that clubhouse. I do think they'll try mid week races as a streaming option, especially if its close travel for teams and fans.

Another aspect of the Olympic breaks that just happens to work out nicely is the teams wanting more off weekends. 38 race weekends with two weeks off - one at the very beginning between the Clash and the 500 - makes for a hell of a grind. I could see them trying to run a couple of close regional races three or four days apart once or twice. But generally midweek races did too poorly during COVID for networks/streaming partners to want more than that.
