'21 Generation 7 Car news

I keep seeing this. But I can't imagine that MJ hires a driver in his twilight. Doesn't Hamlin seem like the logical driver to go?

It would make sense. Really would.

I think Kurt goes to 23XI because they could use a veteran who they know will extract the most out of the cars each week, plus he could possibly bring Monster money. It's somebody who's driven for so many top organizations that he could come in for a year or two and evaluate the team and give pointers for improvement. Denny obviously knows how JGR operates, but Kurt has also had the curtain peeled back on prime era Roush, plus Penske, SHR, Ganassi... That's a driver with a lot of valuable feedback to give.

I don't think Hamlin leaving the 11 makes any sense at all. No way he even considers it as long as Fedex is there and still wants him in the car. And you know there's a 0% chance of Denny taking Fedex away from JGR.
Maybe he could leave and sign UPS to 23XI. :sarcasm: :pbjtime:

It doesn't make sense for Denny to leave JGR when he is drawing down over ten million a year there. Next to KDB, Denny is the highest paid driver in Nascar.
Agreed, but from the perspective of the driver 23XI needs, he is the perfect fit not to mention that he absolutely would have a dog in the fight in regard to making that team better obviously.

Next Gen is testing at Dover with two different configurations:

I cannot for the life of me understand why NASCAR doesn't open these tests, stream them, have driver pressers, etc., etc......Next Gen should mean the next gen in terms of how all of this works. If we want transparency, then let's get the cameras on the cars....let's get the fans excited....let's get more coverage....Instead.....everything is secretive so OEM's secrets cannot be seen by the enemy. So damn stupid. Perhaps, we could even start with how differently these cars will drive...what that means for road course racing, etc., etc.....

I agree if you want to get people interested let them see it, show us some telemetry and lap times

I think you're very much overestimating how exciting a test session is. It's not much to see, from a spectator standpoint.

Why would they show us lap times for a car that doesn't even have the setup dialed in yet most likely? So the times can be super slow and then fans can bitch about it before the car is even actually prepped for competition?

Especially when we don't know exactly what aspects of performance are being tested.

Streaming and coverage ain't free. There's overhead involved. Even if they offered this PPV, they wouldn't get enough customers to break even. As noted, there really isn't much to see.

How about just letting us see them on the track? That would be cool....

They stream the ****** inspection.....I think it can be done.

Not good, but it was one of the reasons why the car wad delayed.

Supposedly, when Byron wrecked the prototype, it was kind of a "Wake up call" in terms of the accident.

So, we'll see what happens in the future. No clue of when in the process these crash tests occurred, so I just take it at face value for now.

NASCAR has a ton of insiders, but eh.

I’m no way a professional in this type of process but wouldn’t it make sense to get the safety aspects of the car right first, and then start testing with drivers in the cars? I was kinda shocked when they announced the car hadnt been crash tested after several tests with drivers in the cars.

Yes, but this late in the development process with a few months left before delivery?

That's the issue, but we don't really know anything.
well, you go ahead and worry about it. with all of the other self appointed twitter dynamic testing experts.

That is the reason why they do crash testing to determine weak and strong points ...uh Duh
The car has been in development for years, has been tested by several drivers and has been presented to the public with much fanfare. If their lack of crash data results in awful outcomes and pushes the car back any more, NASCAR will have embarrassed themselves and dragged their partners with them. This could easily result in the car only being run on short tracks next season.

Read my first post after Chex posted the tweet. I said, I'm taking it at face value for what it is. I'm not sitting here saying the sky of falling, its just late in the process.

That's it.

@ChexOrWrex I think of it as growing pains for a company in Dallara that has developed sports cars and open-wheel chassis. However, a stock car like any other racing car has different needs for safety.

Once again, I have no clue and let's not jump the gun. Twitter is a place we can get our info misconstrued, so like Atlanta, we just have to wait and see.

I also think the source is worth considering. The Hmiels had their lives changes with a racing injury. It’s not like some @bitchesonmydick42069 user made this claim.

This is the kind of thing we give NASCAR **** about.. The constant overlooking of the obvious and failure to do your basic ****** due diligence..

You spent 22 ****** months developing a new car and didn't ONCE consider safety in it's design or even how it races in traffic?! HOW THE **** DO YOU DESIGN A RACE CAR WITH LITTLE TO NO CRUMPLE ZONES IN AN ERA WHERE WE KNOW THE FORCES BEHIND A CRASH!

I knew our sport was run by delusional ****** idiots, but this really ****** takes the cake as far as stupid decisions and oversights..

These incompetent ***** are too enamored with the smell of their own **** to realize they're running this once great sport into the ****** ground..

They're going to get somebody killed through their own negligence

A design flaw?
