23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Exactly. All those teams want permanent charters. NASCAR has made it clear that will never happen. NASCAR only wants boot lickers.
Define " Permanent" All teams that meet the charter requirements will keep them until they are ready to sell, that's about as permanent as you can get.

"Permanent" as in no expiration date, no connection to the TV contract. NASCAR would retain approval of sales and right to confiscate for 'Conduct' reasons.

And I don't care if a Childress car EVER won a race, he was one of the guys making sure there WAS a show every week. If guys like Phelps would have been there in the trenches with guys like Childress and Hylton and Langley and McDuffie and Means and Scott, maybe they would have a little more f***ing appreciation for the guys that poured out their guts for very little of anything so the circus could keep going every week. I will say it one more time. I don't care if RC is the most wrong man on the planet, he deserves more respect than he got from Phelps.
I'd also add that because of RCR and Dale, that's when Nascar starting to become bigger and more popular. Everything went up because of them, merchandise, tv viewership, ticket sales and popularity in the US. I think Nascar might want to thank Richard, instead of making fun of him.

Richard needs to thank Nascar also. Getting on Nascar radio and trashing them wasn't very smart or professional. He should have said what he needed to say to them eye to eye instead of airing his grievances in a public. So once again, nobody here has clean hands.

Richard Childress responds to Phelps, and is weighing legal action (presumably for defamation)...

I think a kid named Jeff may have played a role in that too

If they follow the rules of the charter they have it and as long as they want. Do you think NASCAR would confiscate a charter from Roger Penske? Let me answer for you, NO.

The racing fans who despise racing teams and instead idolize the suits sitting in the suites sure twist themselves into some interesting pretzels defending the indefensible.

You're way overboard there sparky. You are free to think Nascar will be all better after this, but some of us think you Nascar haters live in a dream world. Many of us have seen what splits do to racing series and it isn't any guarantee it is going to be better for the sport if it happens. Especially if this bunch doing the suing has anything to do with it.

I might just be done with NASCAR, that discovery from Phelps and O'Donnell, calling fans useful idiots, calling small team parasites, trying to crush SRX, which was meant to be a short track series, not trying to be a NASCAR competitor, calling Richard Childress a "stupid redneck" . I'm done

How do we know he DIDN'T? Like most large organizations, NASCAR has a tendency to only respond after someone has embarrassed them in public. Richard Childress is an icon, he's basically untouchable. Steve Phelps is NOBODY. Five minutes after he retires /quits/ gets fired, nobody will know (or care) who Steve Phelps was. A footnote to a footnote to a footnote in the history of NASCAR. That boy needs to learn to stay in his lane and give more respect. He's definitely overdue for a good ass whipping.

I might be done period. I don't care who wins or loses this at this point

I do at this point. It's the lesser of two evils to me. I would much rather the France family warts and all continue to run the sport rather than having the three monkeys who are doing the suing do so. I can't imagine Hamlin being a shot caller for the series. I think I would yearn to have Brian France back nose candy and all if that happened.
