All Star Race ratings plummet 15%

Were the intros that bad? I haven't seen how it played on tv yet but the crowd was really into it and it didn't seem that bad.

to me the only way it could have been worse was if denny started dancing.

How bad would it have to get before we can't see the races that we'd like to watch? I know I'm not panicking about any of it. We've got a long way to go to drop to the IRL level. I don't follow that series but aren't all of their races still being televised?

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody's around, does it make a sound?

Yes, the IndyCar Series races are still televised but nobody watches them.

Putting stuff on FS1 and FS2, ESPN3, NBCSN alienated a lot of people. These channels are in upper tier programming, that means you pay more to get them.
The greed of the brain and nascar in general is sickening. A lot of people are making the hard choice to pay their bills or enrich a fat gluttonous pig even more. Only reason I have FS1 and 2 is it's part of the package I got with FIOS. I'll be damned if I was going to continue paying Cox their exorbitant fee for their crap.

I think the TV deals are for much less too. I think I remember seeing somewhere ABC and NBCSN are paying like $5-$6 million a year to televise Indy Car, a far cry from the mega-contract Fox and NBC signed up for with NASCAR.

ABC needs to be ousted.

haha. Not going to happen. It's like playing wack a mole: Squash one site, and 4 others pop-up.

That being said, NASCAR just doesn't get what today's youth wants. You can see it in the TV ratings. I wouldn't expect that to change until the France's are done sucking the sport for every dollar they can.
Today's youth doesn't know what it wants, until someone on Reddit, or Facebook, or whatever else they use, tells them.

Again, not an IndyCar Series fan typing here but I am a NASCAR fan. As long as they're on I'll be watching them. I really don't give a crap what others are doing with their Sunday's.

I don't know that I'll ever be an IndyCar fan for more than one day a year in May.

The same amount of events available on free tv this yr will be avail next season. Just spread out differently. Fox is fighting hard to get fs1 in very wired home so it's on the same level as espn. Comcast is trying as well to get nbcsn in more homes. I still don't know where some of you people think that these races all belong on free tv. It's never been that way and never will.

Nascar has a product they sell to the highest bidder, apparently a really good one because the media pays plenty for it and makes multi year deals. THEY the media put it where ever they choose after that. Not only Nascar but many other popular programming has been moved to cable/dish over the years so we all have to pay to keep the merry go round turning. Many consumers are tapped out, but TV is usually one of the last things to go

I lost alot of interest when they allowed toyota in! I know of alot of others who did as well!

I have the best of both worlds . I drive a Pontiac Vibe . It's a General Motors car built on a Toyota Matrix chassis and transmission . So , while I appear to be driving a red blooded American car , I'm really riding on a foreign car and nobody can tell .

I don't care what they drive so long as the racing is competitive. Why, just last week Dale Jr. was driving a dump truck.

I know Volkswagen been kicking the NASCAR idea around for a while.
Volkswagen, really? Have you heard of any movement from them? Is it just something that's been mentioned or has any real time been invested in the idea at this point?

From the article:
NASCAR’s Jim France signed up to run an American version of DTM to possibly begin racing in 2015-16, so if Ford, Chrysler and GM step up we may have a premiere road race series much like DTM.
DTM America is going to be good. They're probably going to grab a few of the Japanese Super GT manufacturers too and are probably going to run at places like Daytona and Sebring.
