Monday's opening remarks:
its our own version of the pre and post race showsIt's what we do here . We talk about stuff . Before ,during and after .
You said a mouthful there my friend...... at least now...... after decades of telling my wife of 40 years...... ''you know we can't go shopping or traveling or anything like that...... because there's a race on''........ We now do stuff together on Sundays...... If I listen on the radio..... that's fine... I like MRN or PRN better than the idiots on T.V. anyway...... The fan base they used to have are dropping like flies and they have no clue how to reclaim them or draw new ones.... I feel sorry for Bill SR. and Bill Jr..... they have to be spinning in their grave seeing how Brian has managed to mishandle what they worked so hard to build up.......amen.I wonder who are the people dreaming this up? this is crazy, know wonder Sunday is not planed around nascar any more.
"Welcome to Whose Cup Is It Anyway! Where the rules are made up and the points don't matter!".
Off season. 'Nuff said.Sooooooo ........... 76 posts and no idea what the changes are ?
So nobody going to ask @Allenbaba what he has heard?
2017 season synopsisSounds like segments, and points being awarded at the end of each one.

A DNF would kill half your seasonI think there should be points scored every single lap of the race for position. And the points are on a curve where the gap widens the further you move up the field. I don't feel like mapping out all 40 positions, but the idea would be that say running a lap in position 40 would only get you one point, and then position 39 would get you two points. But at the top of the field, the difference between say 9th and 10th place would be maybe a 15 point gap. And then the difference between the leader and 2nd place would be even bigger, like maybe a 40 point gap.
That would ensure that position really matters. Each one of them. Since the point spread between position is wide it means you can't just take a Sunday drive in 12th place every weekend and average your way through because the people ahead of you get weighted way more points for performaning better than you. And closer you get to the front of the pack, the harder the racing gets as the stakes for each spot increase. And because these points are awarded every single lap of the race it means absolutely zero "riding around". If you ride around you will lose way too many points to the leaders.
And then award another points bonus to the winner. Done. You'd have seriously tooth and nail racing then.

One of the guys on /r/NASCAR who usually seems to be in the know said within the past hour segments will be broken up by cautions, with a timed break in between segments.I can live with segments as long as they don't throw cautions after each one. A halfway bonus was paid in cash before, why not in points?
Cannot WAIT for Moody to try and spin this as a positive next week on the radio. This sounds confusing as hell and he's always berating people who call in with confusing ideas.
You mean like empty grandstands? There will be a boatload of unintended consequences to all these changes and I am licking my chops to see them come to fruition.
So for these "segments" will they be parking the cars? Who in their right mind would be ok with this sh*t.
I really don't see how it's so bad, to me it's better than say the caution clock.
Huh? It is in itself a caution clock, with championship deciding points (well, sort of) being given at those cautions in the middle of races.
