The thing is, at the time it was just about running late models and seeing what the kid really had. They had LOTS of time to figure out what to do with him. I like the Rick Hendrick the Toyota approach of "Let's get good prospects into the pipeline and figure out just where to put them later." How many times has Hendrick signed a driver and THEN built a team for them?
He only won because Harvick sped
Yes, HMS was better, but Larson also had chances to get into top tier cars if rumors were true but stayed with Chip. Larson is a hell of a wheelman, but so is Chase. At this point, I'd argue that Chase is mentally tougher than Larson. Still, I'd hire either to drive my car in a nanosecond.
Whoa, whoa....Mr. H. has said that he isn't a fan of developing drivers if I am not mistaken....
As I said before, HMS doesn't NEED to develop drivers, he has JRM for that, and they have become quite good at it. Rick can say whatever he wants, but Chase Elliott, William Byron, Tyler Reddick and Noah Gragson didn't just fall out of the shy. They are developing drivers.
I am not sure what you're getting at.I wonder who Byron and Gragson and Reddick were racing for in the developmental series of ARCA and K&N and the trucks?
That JR Motorsports is an Xfinity only team and there's no Hendrick development in trucks and lower. They rely on stealing drivers.I am not sure what you're getting at.
I'll say he went one farther with Byron, let him get experience with the Toyota bunch with the agreement of signing on to Hendrick after his contract expired in the Toyota Trucks done before the fact. Gragson was a shoe in, he was brought up from the jump in the Yota camp but they are shrinking at the cup level and Xfinity. Sadler retiring was perfect timing to get an already trained driver who has most of his wrecking out of the way. That JR Motorsports is an Xfinity only team and there's no Hendrick development in trucks and lower. It’s a good possibility. He ate Kevin up on entrance.I think the 9 car caused the 4 car to speed on pit road. If you watch the final pit stop you can see what happened.

Still a stupid mistake though. Kevin has to know he has the better car and plenty of time to race Chase once up to speed.
Sped in section 4I watched the vid several times where they show that pit stop, when the 9 ate the 4 up on entrance. From the 4 in car camera Kevin looked in his rear view as he was crossing the timing line, probably lost concentration on the tach.

I got this for ya, your on your own after thatWhere is section 4?

They replaced the emoji's with the NBC symbol.Whats the deal with the NBC Peacock on the car?
To be fair, with William...Kyle stole him first. Jr already had him, then Kyle got him, and Jr just got him back.

ON Happy Hours a caller questioned Kevin on looking in rear view at the 9, Kevin said he didn't. But when you watch the in car, he clearly did.
How the hell do you steal a guy when the organization he was with had no truck team?
Oh yeah, the 9 intimidated Kevin ******* Harvick. Got it.
Sorry your guy didn't make it.

I let it go, Hendrick/Jr motorsports did have a one truck team during that time. Part time 2015 and full time 2016. Cole Custer was in the truck 00 sponsored full boat by Gene Haas both years. Byron had Liberty and was with KBM trucks. Byron ran full time in a Chevy in K&N East 2015 for Justin Marks, with Kevin Bellicourt as his crew chief and I believe Bellicourt works for Hendrick and is going to be the 48's chief. Who knows, but I do think Hendrick either had Byron on tap, or gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. If I had to guess I think he had Byron already spoken for.
He's about as soft-spoken and humble as they come. But race car driver and NASCAR fan favorite Chase Elliott is a new force to be reckoned with in American stock car racing.
so far that seems to be the case, Elliott more often than not makes his run to the front in the final stages of the race. It probably will change next year, most of the younger drivers experiences are with much higher down force cars.On XM today DW said Chase reminds him of David Pearson.
I think the most you'll find is a the top 5 vote getters but they won't list it in order. I have no clue why they don't just release that info, even the Heisman trophy voting gets released. I guess they don't want to hurt the other driver's feelings by seeing how unpopular they are in comparison? LolSo Chase Elliott wins the most popular driver award. That does not surprise me. I tried to find the actual voting results with no luck. Has anyone ever seen the results?
I don't see that happening any time soon. Gordon's son is way too young.I think Chase has done a pretty decent job so far in the early stage of his Cup career and it is no big surprise that he won MPD this year. I think if he keeps his nose clean in life and keeps having decent results he will be MPD for a few more years...but I don't think he will hold the title as long as his dad or Dale Jr did.
I may be wrong, but I believe his daughter is more into racing than his son.I don't see that happening any time soon. Gordon's son is way too young.
