Chili Bowl 2019

Pretty much the best in the business

I probably would have preferred that Larson got him one. But there was nothing dirty about that. Larson should be upset with himself mostly, and I'm sure with time he will be.

Awesome drives by Grant and Bacon in 3rd and 4th, and Brad Sweet from the B to 7th.

i was really hoping that bell would have got the 1 car in nascar and be larsons teammate.

Nice to see Larson in midseason form! I think he’s better start racking up those career wins at some point to be compared to Mark Martin who’s one of the best ever, championship or no. Bell is better then Larson and actually is clutch and wins

Kyle Larson is an extremely gifted driver but he is a terrible defensive driver. Right there is why Bell is going to be a cup champion someday

Also let me say I turned it off and watched the recording this morning. Absolutely embarrassing how long the track prep took for 55 laps

Dude I got home after a basketball game and watched through maybe halfway before the second B-Main before I really had to go to sleep....just watched the rest and damn am I glad I recorded the whole 2-hour ARCA program afterwards. Race finished at the 1:47 mark in that. I was getting worried.

Bell is the truth, man. I love that kid...would probably be my favorite driver in the future if he weren’t affiliated with JGR.

Shocked at that finish though. Looked like Larson’s brain shut off momentarily, I can’t believe it. Not dirty at all, don’t know what people are complaining about.

Brady Bacon put on a show for a while.

I'm fortunate to be on the west coast. I was watching Supercross too, and the races were fitting around each other quite well for the most part.

From a general standpoint though, yeah, they should rethink the schedule a bit. Now that the number of entries have exploded in recent years, they're starting Saturday with an O-Main. When I attended in the '00s it was maybe I-Mains that started the day.

The resulting race was worth the extra track prep. If they need an hour to rework the track, they need to build that into the schedule and let the fans be more aware of what to expect. I'm sure everyone in the building was thrilled by the race itself, but I talked to a couple who were there, and people were getting fed up with waiting and waiting with little indication.

My suggestion would be to abandon the notion that every single entry gets to race on Saturday. Nobody is making crazy runs through more than two or three of the alphabet soup races anymore anyway. Cap it at the top X number of cars in passing points and start Saturday morning with a J Main. That would help them stay closer to schedule.

This was the biggest choke job of the dude's career. He was just a mess at the end of that race. Freaking sucks man.

How ms. Earnhardt do?

That's your boy tho. Through thick, thin, and all chokes alike. Larson needs some Ws' this year, be great to see him win the 500.

For those not up on the abbreviations, KKM is Keith Kunz Motorsports, whose cars have been unbeatable here for several years now. JG is Justin Grant, who has done the best of everyone else.

Unfortunately his best shot at doing any better would probably be landng / buying a KKM seat. :p

I don’t agree with the track prep. I’ve never seen more than 30 mins of it, typically it’s 15 before the A-Main. And on tracks much bigger than that as well. Lol you could’ve had all new dirt down in 60 mins probably.

Maybe it saw too much action throughout the day though you’re right there

As someone who watched every night, and yesterday from 10 am till it was over, The Mav tv portion was way too slow moving for the racing involved. Not sure how to fix it. I didn't see that Robert Ballou had anything to offer last night. :)

We just saw something similar to a young A.J. and Parnelli, or Petty and Pearson, Earnhardt and Gordon from back in the day and I don't get it.

I was going to host a big Chili bowl party, but with the temps at -7, snowing and blowing, that didn't happen. And I'm glad it didn't, because there would've been several non race fans also, who more than likely would have left after one of the Bs.

In regards to greatness, I first shook hands with Kyle when he was 10 years old. I've followed his career since then and was invited by his parents to camp with them at his first World of Outlaw race at Chico. I've been to every race possible for me to attend. I've seen what he can do. In regards to CBell, or Logan Seavey, if Kyle says they're better than him, that's good enough for me.

I'd like to see what Bell could do in one of the full blown winged sprint cars against the WoO regulars like Larson does. I think Bell is every bit as good as Larson if not a tad better.

he is working on a deal for next year to do so.

Part of the article that I thought was on target.

And we get to see them in their prime, in their best forms, multiple times a year.

That's a testament to Joe Gibbs and Chip Ganassi, who support their drivers' endeavours, and events like the Chili Bowl that have become a crown jewel in the dirt world and an emerging marquee event in motorsports at large.

But also give credit to Bell and Larson in the sense that they keep coming back, year after year, despite both seeming poised to become NASCAR superstars.

It's seemingly a cycle that a driver gets paid and either chooses to get complacent, joins the rank and file of those who complain about being raced too hard on Sundays, or aren't even allowed to pursue their other racing ambitions.
