College Football 2016

Idk man. We looked like sh!t last night. We didn't look good on the road against msu either. Speight was so inaccurate last night. I don't have much confidence we will be able to win in Columbus.
They played like crap against Wisconsin too, honestly. But everyone knows, none of that matters on the 26th. The Game makes players step up. As long as they play to their capabilities, they will be fine in Columbus.

Pretty crazy that Ohio State could end up in the playoff without even winning their division in the Big Ten. To win their division they'd have to beat Michigan State and Michigan AND Penn State would have to lose to Rutgers or Michigan State. I don't see all that happening.

As big of a deal as the committee has made in the past about winning your conference, I just don't see OSU getting in without it.

Given that they're currently ranked #2 it'd be hard to justify excluding them if they win out, especially if Alabama somehow loses between now and the end of the season.

If they beat Michigan, they will be in.
You'd have Alabama at a likely undefeated #1 spot.

If Penn State wins the B1G, do they go in over OSU? You would almost have to put them in over OSU since they beat them.

You have possible 1 loss conference champions in Clemson and Washington which would take spots over OSU because 1 loss conference champ is weighted higher than 1 loss team that didn't even win their division, per the committee.

Then the committee has that 4 spot. Do you give it to a potential 2 loss Big 12 Champion Oklahoma? Or a team that lost in their conference championship? Or a team that didn't even make it to their conference championship? So many options.

Basically...OSU, even winning out, isn't guaranteed by a long shot.

No one but Buckeyes will appreciate this image but I think it's powerful.

I know they've harped on conference champions in the past but I would not even bank on a 12-1 Washington getting in. Ohio State would have way better wins (OU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska) than whatever Washington winds up with (Utah, Washington State, PAC-12 South champ). This is something the committee would have to consider.

Penn State winning the Big Ten would be messy because they'd have one more loss and an overall lesser resume (would really only have the OSU win and a win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten CG) than OSU but obviously have head-to-head.

I don't see Oklahoma being much of a factor; Ohio State would have a better overall resume, better record, and demolished OU head-to-head in Norman. The Big 12 is a weak conference this year and I really struggle seeing them make the playoff.

If Penn state wins the big ten then OSU and PSU are both getting in. Sorry Washington. By the way I fully expect Washington to lose again. Washington St is better than them. Hopefully Michigan beats Ohio anyway.

Alabama is a tad overrated. I'm sorry but the SEC doesn't have any other top teams outside of them

Agreed. I think they are the best team, but not invincible. Hell, they were down multiple scores to ole Miss. Also the LSU-Wisconsin and LSU-Bama games looked similar to me.

As much as I hate to say it, I think OSU is the team to beat right now.

As much as I hate Alabama, if we are going to use the transitive property to compare teams, look at what Alabama did to USC, who just beat an undefeated and Top 5 Washington team.

Alabama is a really really good football team with an elite defense. Their biggest weakness is that they are starting a true freshman QB, but that hasn't really slowed them down.

I don't even need to use the transitive property. They beat LSU 10-0. That's a good win, but it shows they aren't impossible to play with. I said they are the best team, but this whole unbeatable talk is ridiculous. Two years ago it's all they talked about on ESPN and OSU beat them.

I think Alabama is the best team in the country, but the rest of the SEC is garbage this year. After #1 Alabama you have to go all the way down to #15 to find the next SEC team.

1. Alabama
2. Louisville
3. Ohio State
4. Wisconsin

Assuming they all win out...those are the best 4 teams in the country.

This is true. The SEC is trash. The East is a dumpster fire and you could make a case that the second best team in the conference is a team that fired their coach mid-season.

All of that said, I hope whoever Alabama plays in the playoff beats them by 70.

I'd put Clemson at 4 over Wisconsin.

Wisconsin beat LSU, Clemson beat Auburn. Those are a wash, with maybe a slight edge to Clemson for winning on the road.
Wisconsin lost two close games to Michigan and Ohio State. Clemson lost on a last second FG to Pitt.
Wisconsin struggled with a really bad Georgia State team.
Clemson's win over Louisville is better than any Wisconsin win and the same argument could be made for their win over FSU.

Louisville gets the benefit of Manziel syndrome, in my opinion. They're a good but not great team that gets a bump because they have the most electrifying player in the game. They have one good win (FSU), were losing to Wake Forest for three quarters, could've lost to Duke if it weren't for a roughing the kicker call that they got, and nearly lost to a legitimately terrible UVa team.

I like the three of Alabama/Ohio State/Michigan but beyond that no one looks really incredible, although I will say Clemson has earned a spot as of now.

This weekend should be interesting, let's see how Ohio State and Michigan do in their games. No team means to overlook other teams but it happens a lot.

I knew it, I just knew it. Ohio State playing like crap. If they lose today, they were not old enough this year.

Alabama vs. Chattanooga, Auburn vs. Alabama A&M, South Carolina vs. Western Carolina, Kentucky vs. Austin Peay, Georgia vs. UL-Lafayette, Texas A&M vs. Texas-San Antonio...

Jeezus, did the entire SEC take the week off?

Florida beat LSU to win the east. UT should stop the game against Mizzou, fire Butch, and escort his ignorant ass from the stadium.

That is what bothers me about this team, they have NO consistency. It makes me want to scream. I have little hope for next week.
On the other hand it was a road win in crappy weather conditions, albeit against a 3-8 team.

As for Michigan, they're having their own struggles against Indiana right now, so don't write off next Saturday yet.

New polls:

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Michigan
4. Clemson
5. Wisconsin

Could potentially have 3 Big Ten teams in the playoffs. Wow. (Penn State #8 too)

I'm pretty happy with the strength of the Big Ten this year, three teams in the Top 5 and four teams in the Top 10.

But everybody where I live still says the SEC is the best conference in college football this year, lol.

Those people haven't been watching football. Outside of Alabama, the SEC is the worst Power 5 conference in the country.

The Big 12 is pretty tragic.

I think if the SEC goes 2-2 against the ACC this week it'll be considered a success. As bad as the East is, UT and UGA still beat the top two teams in the Coastal and the SEC was outmatched in the others (Clemson/Auburn, Vandy/GT, Ole Miss/Florida State).

Ultimately I don't think any one conference has more than two or three impressive non-conference wins though.
