Cup RACE thread --- Indy

They should make them do a U turn if they miss the first turn or at least have to come to a complete stop.

The rule doesn't require him to stop, he did brake before missing the corner and trying his bold move, and he did brake exiting that access road.

What's the penalty for? Gaining spots? Because NASCAR didn't like the outcome of it?

For starters, this is why we need to quit running fake road courses. At least with a city street course like Chicago, you can't just blatantly cut the course.
Yes, penalize him for cutting the course and gaining spots. Now I’d have quicker on the call and given him the chance to give spots back, but good luck getting scoring to do that quickly. Heck, I’m his interview he admitted he didn’t really try to make the corner and took the exit to avoid the traffic

He "slowed" down before gunning it into the access road , yes, he braked, because he had to going as fast as he was, if not, he would of wiped out Reddick.

Exactly by the rules he did nothing wrong, they just didn't like the outcome. So....we'll just make up a new rule mid race lmao!

So if someone exploits a rule without actually breaking it, we should penalize them just because our feelings are hurt?

Not that I expect any different from today's NASCAR. Nothing surprises me after adding Jeff Gordon to the Chase field in 2013 as a 13th man because of hurt feelings.

Sports entertainment.

100% rule. Poor sportsmanship. I'm sure there's a few others that could apply to this scenario.

Seems like he was giving 100% effort to win the race to me. I'm not really a Ross fan I just want to know what he did that was actually against the rules? They just didn't like the outcome of him following their own rules.

Chicago might end up being the fakest of em all

First off, congratulations to my man Tyler Reddick. I've gotta say, I'm a big fan of this new trend of drivers' kids running out onto the track after the race to celebrate the win with them. Little Beau looks just like his dad. ^_^

I tuned in for this race earlier, turned it off when I saw what had been happening in Turn 1, and tuned back in for the last restart before the GWC. That was easily one of the dumbest restarts I've ever seen, if not the dumbest. Absolute clown world. I like Joey, but that "move" wasn't even aggressive, it was just incredibly stupid. I'd expect to see stuff like that in the Truck Series from a rookie who doesn't know any better, not from a Cup Series veteran and Homestead Bowl winner.

Ross Chastain taking the access road on the final restart wasn't much smarter, and then this guy was sideways, barely hanging onto his car, desperately fighting with Reddick as if he actually belonged in the position he was in. Really, my dude? I like him purely for his association with Trackhouse and my boy Suarez, but come on, brother.

I don't like being negative about NASCAR anymore, but man, if these guys are gonna "race" like that at this track, then either something needs to change with the track layout or the traveling circus needs to visit another facility this time next year. That wasn't cool.

Cole Custer with a much needed top 10. Ty Gibbs kept it clean & brought it home 17th. Not bad.

Street courses have true track limits, and physical consequences for abusing them. It's one of the things I'm looking forward to the most.
Hopefully nobody else will be able to pull that move at the street race, maybe a concrete barrier or two will dissuade the idea. I went back and watched the last restart, Ross after he pulls onto the track after his detour is actually fighting for the lead! I didn’t know as I was watching that he was the one that used the access road it happened so fast. I was like wait, where did he come from?! Just craziness, did he know what he did was illegal like was it addressed pre race? Was he notified by officials as he was battling Tyler? The one that got screwed here was Cindric, if they had gotten the Water Melon Farmer outta the way maybe he coulda made a go at the 8. Then to sit there with that look of disdain in post race as Dave asked him questions…gtfo here.

The gerbils didn't know what to do with Ross Chastain lol hilarious.

I was there right along with them ha ha I saw a car go straight and not turn into 1…then saw him come back on to the lead I was like wait is that Ross?!

You mean like clear tape?

It didn't turn out well for my guy today but I was at least entertained by all the silly **** we saw. Let out a few hearty laughs over the course of that one.
In all honesty after the clusterf%#& today, im more than happy with a 16th
