Daytona RACE thread --- Duel 1 & 2

So I been since 2 am. I’m going to bed. Someone tag me and let me know if they race or not (tag me when it starts or is canceled, not after) so I know if I need to fire up the recording in the morning. Thanks

On my lunch break finding out about this. Sheesh.
 
I was literally 1/3 of the way to the track from Tampa after work today, then suddenly my commute increased by an hour due to a wreck just past Orlando and it had me getting there right at race time. I then re-checked the hourly forecast to see if it was even worth it at that point and saw how bad it was going to be around the time of the 2nd duel since that's the one my guy is in and I immediately U-turned and drove right back home.

Good decision.

Accuweather has Sunday's chance of rain as 100%. 100% is a BOLD statement when it comes weather that's more than 48 hours out....lol.

Rain is definitely part of Florida. The issue is it simply takes longer to evaporate in the winter. I'm trying to decided if I want to go to the gym shortly. I don't want to miss the second duel though...

Preece was in on speed from qualifying. The top open car in the duel plus the fastest two on speed would start in the 500. Preece ended up being the top open car in the Duel. So rather than be the next car behind him (because he was already in) it goes to the 3rd place open car qualifying speed, which is Cindric.

I did not realize this until after the finish.

edit- originally wrote Gragson instead of Cindric...wow...lol.

I usually don't pay attention to the weather until 24hours before knowing it could change hoping it changes and its nice and sunny for sunday and we have no delays for the 500.
 
My question is if they do not get the second race in with the rain, how exactly will the field be set? Will the results from the first one still count or will it all revert back to qualifying times?

They would probably either just line them up as is or there's a window tomorrow morning to run it before the weather rolls back in.
 
If they can’t do it tonight they don’t have anything on track until 1 PM tomorrow so the morning window should work. At the very least I don’t think they’d want half the field having the extra race wear on the engines.
 
OMG , what I would give to have that picture book that Mrs Scott has.

Something for the HOF
 
They're pulling the dryers off the track per the officials scanner. Track is very close.
