The car won just not with Kyle in it. He made a business decision to shut the team down after that season which as of right now seems to have been a good business move.

Might be considered a good business decision to bail on Xfinity with the lack of success, and solidify his Truck program, but not here. Oh nooooooooooo. Laughable.

OK, let's try it this way. At least once a day, I am completely naked, but since I'm inside my house, it's AOK. However, if I walk outside and stand by the street naked, all of the sudden, it's NOT OK. See the difference?
 
I always love how people bring up 2012 to bash Kyle but conveniently leave out he still won in the cup series that year. If Xfinity/Trucks don’t matter why does he get bashed for not winning in those series when he won in the one that matters? :p

Using this analogy doesn't work. You'd be braking the law and Kyle blasting a driver doesn't.

No, but there IS when you announce exactly what you said to the whole world. The details of that should have been between Kyle, Todd, perhaps the team and his business partners.
 
And the opinion of the US Army, at least in every personnel management class they every taught me as an NCO and officer.
 
Couple of different thoughts on this.

1. Its Kyle. This is his personality and when a driver signs up with him they know from the day the climb in his truck what he expects and how reactionary he is. This isnt the first time Todd heard this and the reason Kyle brought it out in public is purely a motivational tactic and to me it indicates its becoming critical and he wants the kid to succeed.

2. The down side to this is it could backfire and cause Todd to lose confidence or overdrive the truck at times and any failure or bad run from here on out could have a snowball effect, not only on Todd but he may also lose the confidence of the team.

Back when I was young I raced at local motocross tracks. The most impressive race to watch every week was the youth class. Those kids on 80cc bikes were amazing. Bad fast.
The ability is there very young with the proper coaching behind them. Physically they were probably more capable than everyone else there.
I don't really have a point with this statement per the ops post, just reminiscing.

Very cool, no big names like that in my part of the Midwest. How long since you've been on a bike? I havn't raced in over 20 years, last time I road a dirt bike was about 10 years ago.
Fun memories, if I'd of known the technical things I know now, I'd of gotten farther. I was all throttle, hit every corner as fast as I could and had to pretty much park it to get off. I had the natural ability but no coaching at all.
 
The pressure on this kid must have been intense for him to say what he said at that moment. His disdain for his owner came to a head obviously. Be interesting to see if KB can forgive and realize what his snide public comments were doing.

Really? Or maybe he is an entitled little bitch who has never seen the inside of a woodshed until now? What the hell rock has he been under to believe that this would end well for him? I would like to see this as his last time in that seat, but I am pretty sure that Kyle isn't in complete control of that. After that bull****, it speaks volumes about KB as a leader that he would even shake his hand in Victory Lane.

Woodshed? Now? Is this suggesting KB gonna kick his ass? And thought this was KBs team? Owner/leader doesn’t decide who drives for him? I think it speaks volumes more that KB May realize where it all came and overlook it. Surprising as that seems..

lol. I don’t either. He said it because he’s felt it for a long while. KB isn’t there to be his buddy, but saying what he did HOW he did (publicly) was a dickhead move IMO.

I don't think it's a big deal, and I don't think Kyle does either. It seems you may be taking Todd's comments to Kyle a bit personal? I doubt Kyle is. And I don't see anything wrong with the way Kyle or Todd handled themselves this year.

Allow me to normalize this.

Let's look at the facts. TG is 18, and had already been working under Kyle for a few years, since he was what, 16,17? Kyle is an adult. While Kyle has his moments, he's still 34 years old. Gilliand is a kid. 18 IS a kid. Kyle called him out publicly earlier this year as a final warning, which probably upset him. Kyle likely knew this. Todd is probably out of KBM Motorsports this year. Already knows Kyle is ready to move on from him. The professional relationship at this point was effectively over PRIOR to this race.

Todd wins... Knowing he's out, and is basically saying "**** you man, I won". Tit for Tat. A kid sticking it to his boss. He's a kid. It doesn't reflect badly on Kyle, it hardly reflects badly on Todd.. I doubt Kyle is shocked or surprised or even bothered. Kyle's visit to VL shows this. But imo, demonizing an 18 year old kid for behaving in a somewhat expected / normal manner given the context seems a bit reactionary.


From Kyle publically warning Todd months ago, to Todd FINALLY doing something, to him sticking it to Kyle, and to Kyle shaking his hand.. everything about this to me seems just so damn normal lol. Kyle does what he can to motivate / warn his driver on his last straw. An 18 year old kid with a teenage mind takes it personal, and figuratively says "f you boss, my two weeks notice was already put in by your call". All normal

Come on man, an 18 year old or a 40 year old talking like that to the guy signing the checks is not normal. In fact, it's counterintuitive. I don't think Roger Penske is falling all over himself to inquire about a one win kid who presents as Jimmie-like, and then at the moment of truth when most thank those who helped him get there, talks that kind of crap. Additionally, I don't think David rolls that way. I agree, I think Todd is gone, and that is the reason Kyle doesn't care. Kyle's ego alone wouldn't tolerate that if he had to endure more of Todd.

SMDH. Woodshed...figuratively. As in calling him out publicly. Yup, KB's team, but KB has funding....and Toyota has their Driver Development Program.
