Hendrick Motorsport News

I've been trying to figure out the point of the new car since it was first announced. Your interpretation of RCR's position with Chevy is purely speculative. I don't hear anybody over there complaining, and ECR, not HMS has been a key supplier for many GM backed racing efforts. Your use of the word "fair" is curious too. Who says ANYTHING has to be fair with the way Chevy allocates their resources? The Next Gen car MAY make it easier to close the gap between teams, but I don't recall anybody announcing a policy that ANY manufacturers were going to treat ALL their teams the same. JTG snd Spire have been farther down the food chain at Chevy with new car, just as they were with the old car. Does not 23XI go to JGR for engineering, not the other way around? Do you REALLY think that Legacy is going to get EVERYTHING that JGR gets? If you do, I've got some beachfront property in North Dakota to sell you.
I think the point is to lower costs and level the playing field. Now, we are playing sim and IP games as a means of keeping the power teams in control. Who controls the IP? The OEMs. Am I right?

Allocation of resources.....If it isn't equal, then what is the point, and why did NASCAR develop the Next Gen? The same power structure will always exists.

I think that 23XI is getting more and more independent of JGR all of the time courtesy of TRD and Next Gen.

Yes, I do believe that Legacy will get what JGR gets...and I think that 23XI will restructure their alliance. Now, what they can do with that is dependent on their people in house.

It is comical to me that a couple around here continuously bitch about JGR and the price increase for Furniture Row, but, in effect, isn't this the same thing going on at Chevy? What difference does it make if the smaller teams are priced out or muscled out? None.

Rev is acting like RPM and then Legacy was a Chevy fixture. Petty was always a wh*re when it came to manufacturers his entire career. Hop in bed with best deal at the time, rinse, repeat ad nauseum. They were Ford just a couple years ago.

Legacy wasn't. Seven Time is. Game changer.

Manufacturer loyalty makes no sense to me, I'm going to buy what is the best car for me at the best price regardless of who makes it. I've owned fords, Chryslers, jeeps, Hondas, and Subarus. My next car will be whatever suits me best when I get it. Why would I want to limit myself to one brand?

Toyota loyalty has literally saved me thousands of dollars. Whether it is right or wrong....I have had certain maintenance/repairs done free of charge (off warranty)...and I have never paid sticker even though I have been 100% willing to do so.....MY salesperson has worked ways to save me at least $5,000 per transaction. I have never owned anything other than Toyotas, and I have been with the same dealership for 35 years. I will also add that I have my Service Advisor's personal cell, and I have the ability to call 24 hours a day. I don't wait for an appointment. I call, and I am in. I get treated incredibly well. I wear Toyota gear every day (even accessorizing at work), and the dealership loves it. I have had free hats and swag waiting for me on a consistent basis. I get a 30% friends and family discount on all service. Yeah, I get shopping around, but I think I'll stick with what I have going on...certainly a Toyota thing because Chevy and Ford aren't that awesome.

Not trying to flame you, but sounds like you have a great dealer you have been using for 35 years. Toyota like every other manufacturer has some great dealerships, some crappy ones and mostly average dealers. I would be loyal to that dealer too, but not to Toyota who could care less about you or me.

I understand how you come to this conclusion. However, by your own admission, you are not brand-centric. Therefore, you haven't had the experience of OEM loyalty, and having that loyalty reciprocated. When I am not billed in service, this stuff goes through a Regional Rep, and their first question is, "How long has he been a Toyota customer?" So this isn't as dealership specific as you might think. Is all of this coming from the dealer, or a grander Toyota culture? Who is to say really, but I will say this....I have had the good fortune of meeting some people at the Toyota corporate level, and I have been astonished at the congruency of respect to my dealership experience. One of Toyota's cornerstone principles is "respect for people." To say that Toyota doesn't care about you or me will get you some likes here, but I am not certain that you are correct or have any "receipts" as my boy @StandOnIt likes to say to validate your opinion. If I live a fantasy, I am good. If you prefer the crass "nobody cares" perspective...to each his own.

Let's be good man. As I have mentioned, I have never come here for the sole purpose of pissing somebody off or getting responses for stuff I don't care about. This is the very definition of trolling I live by. Do I get carried away? Duh....but sue me if my passion and love for this sport carries me away. Do I shoot barbs at Hendrick. Yes, but to me, that is just like the barbs shot to MY Toyotas. I have always visualized this place as a bunch of people who love this sport shooting the ****. Out of respect for the work @nascarwoman needs to do, DM me if you would like further discussion.

Being good to your mechanic or service provider always pays dividends. I had an old car that was nearing the end of its life. My mechanic could have kept "fixing" it and taking my money but since I had been going to him for years, he pulled me aside and told me that I should consider getting a new car.

I respect loyalty, especially in a society where people are always trying to get the best "deal."

We're good, man. We have always been good. I've always admired and respected your manufacturer loyalty.

And I completely agree with you here. Yeah, you say stuff that's out there, and sometimes I choose to respond in a manner that apparently some see as an "attack" on your character. I've never lost any sleep over the things you say on here and I'm sure you aren't bothered by anything I've said to you.

We're all adults here, and we have our opinions but it's just fans being fans. This is just another case of the mods making something out of nothing.

Naw, I think we are good with the mods man. Actually, I appreciate the few times that they have shot me DMs requesting that I chill. I have had posts removed. I think when they see us settling our own ****, they will then not feel the need to babysit. It will take care of itself. Can't wait for the race tonight!

Just thought I would throw this in here, in April, I bought my new CHEVY from a dealer 150 miles from home that didn't know me from spit, and I could not POSSIBLY have been treated better, even though they knew going in that they would most likely never make another single dime off of me.

As it should be. If I may ask, what did you get?.... I promise....No Snark Guarantee. ;)

One of the last couple hundred 2022 Colorado's (2023 is a new model) and one of only two left in the country that had the specific options and color I wanted.

Congrats man. Very cool.

I haven't heard of any. I'd like to see them fix it to race in IMSA.
It's not even CLOSE to the IMSA GT3 spec, and GM had ZERO interest in running the Camaro in Weathertech even BEFORE it was announced that the Camaro was going away. The Garage 56 car is and always will be a one-off orphan. Other than POSSIBLY influencing changes to the Cup car, it's this decade's version of the Delta Wing. Interesting, but still a dead end.

They built the car from scratch and you think they couldn't modify the car? Uh OK.

Knaus said it’s pretty much just going to tour car shows and festivals around the world from now on. Since it wasn’t built to a particular set of regulations there isn’t anywhere to race it on a regular basis.

Better that than locked away in a warehouse or museum I think.

It has no home there, unfortunately.

IMSA GT3 cars use a production car-based chassis.
Exactly, and even if you ignore that fact, GM would have to submit the car and pay homologation fees for the car, and have a longer term plan for the model. The Camaro will be out of production before they could even get approval to race it. There is also the fact that when it comes to GT racing, the Corvette is GM's one and ONLY interest. They killed a perfectly good Grand Am Camaro program when GA and The ALMS merged because they couldn't STAND anything that might steal some focus from Corvette Racing. As I said, other than POSSIBLY influencing changes to the Cup car, Garage 56 was nothing more than a PR stunt for Chevy, HMS and NASCAR. A GOOD stunt as it turns out, but still a PR stunt.

I read that Larson crashed at the Eldora Million event.

How long do you guys think Hendrick lets this whole racing dirt thing continue?
that was a nasty wreck, saw it this morning on Twitter. Thank goodness he's okay. Someone wrap Willy B up in bubble wrap when he leaves the house

Until Larson gets hurt then he’ll have enough ammunition to pull the plug (and his funding).
He's already said a long time ago the driver that gets hurt will get replaced. Elliott, and Bowman already have been thru that. Every driver Hendrick has races different stuff.

The dirt thing is how he got Larson to sign. Maybe he keeps allowing it to keep Larson.

If I were an owner, I wouldn’t allow it. There’s too much money in Cup to allow these kind of risks. Cup racing is risky enough. A guy getting injured at a dirt track impacts more than the driver, there are hundreds of employees that rely on him.
