Hottest Cup Driver

Hearing Hamlins comments at Bristol II and seeing how he worked hard to block Logano in the pits that race, Richmond may be where Denny pulls a bonehead move to deny Logano a chase spot. If Joey is lucky, Joe Gibbs has spoken to Denny already and told him to keep it clean. The Gibbs family absolutely loved Logano and probably hope to get him back some day. They had a lot invested in him.

What was Denny saying? I couldn't believe how he blocked him in like that.. I was pissed... Loved it when Joey passed him under green.. just finished watchin the replay of that race about 5 seconds ago.

Im actually pretty sure the Penske guys have tested at the next 3 tracks. Hopefully Denny will maintain his level of underachieving... he "usually doesn't see him anyway"... right?

I don't see Joey going back to Gibbs.. I heard Rioger Penske say last week that he wants Joey to have a long career with him similar to Rusty Wallace.

Kyle Busch has two wins in the last four races. I'd venture to say he's currently the hottest driver in Cup at the moment.

But this is a great troll thread.

Well this thread has been around for a while. With the wins yeah he's hot but Joey has gained more points over the past 6 races than anyone.

You just said 5! Man you'll find anyway to assure everyone that Joey is God won't you. Glad your driver is hot & peaking and you're excited about it but remember every summit has a slope directly beneath it.

Kyle is the current hottest, but like it or not Joey has been the 2nd best for the last six races.

Note: I guess the last 6 is the standard based on driver averages.com

Racing is nuanced like a lot of things in life. The JGR #20 is better with Matt/without Joey and they made the right cchoice.

But to a lesser degree Joey has helped Penske, and he has even performed better than the defending champion.

Everytime I think about Hamlins "hush child" and the he isnt fast enough to run in his pack idea I have to smile. I wish Hamlin no harm, but like many others he was wrong, the kid has redeemed himself this year imo.

LOL .. seriously tho.. coming into this race he had gained 20 more points than the next highest (Kasey Kahne) over the past 5.. he had to have gained on that with the 2nd place and most laps lead at Atlanta. Hell since the all star race the only bad finishes he had were those tire failures.. he's absolutely and clearly the most consistent driver in the series right now. Period.

After Joey's little debacle with Denny, I think it was clear that Joey did not like the way he was treated at JGR. Even Kyle still labeled him as a "good little racer". JGR isnt the best at keeping teamates cool with each other, remember Kyle vs Denny at the all star race a while back? I think Joey was constantly viewed as the younger brother who it was easy to pick on and Joey just wanted respect. Penske picked him up and Joey finally had the chance to prove he is chase worthy - but it takes more than being the hottest driver in the past 6 races to be a champion. Right now with KyBu winning 2 outta the last 4 races, he is going to have the most momentum going into the last 10 races. If I played fantasy I'd totally pick Kyle to put up big numbers at Richmond.

Yeah Kyle definitely a good pick for next week. Joey needs to finish 11th to clinch. I think that's possible. He finished 3rd there in the spring race.

Hasn't Gordon made up a bunch of points then lost them then gain it back?

I think he deserves to be in the conversation. ;)

Dont know how many times he's gained on the 10th guy then lose them back up only to make it up.

Quote from ESPN power rankings: "Despite a slew of generic pit stops, he still finished second. Throw out hard-luck Daytona and Loudon and he's averaged a sixth-place finish since May. He finished third at Richmond in the spring."

http://espn.go.com/racing/powerrankings/_/week/26

They have Joey 5th coming into Richmond.. behind only the drivers that have more wins than him really... except Kahne.

Can I say I told you so yet? lol noo better wait..... :p

I think that over the season the only drivers to really out perform Joey have been JJ, Kyle, Kenseth and Kahne... after these last few weeks I could see those 5 in any given order by the time the checkers waves at Homestead. As long as Kahne and Logano can avoid the bad luck they've both been having this season... or anyone for that matter lol, guess that's what makes them consistent tho ..

If you want to see who the hottest drivers are in NASCAR, look at the points, starting with first and work your way down. The math has already been done.

Yeah well check out the first couple sentences in this thread... Im talking lately.. and lately, regardless of top 5's, top 10's and wins on the season... Joey Logano has been better than Jimmie Johnson...

looks like the post says hottest cup driver..of course started by you there will be many disclaimers. 1-10 with 2 wild cards in that order are the hottest right now..and guess what, the driver out of those who wins the chase will be the hottest cup driver.

And for the Kyle fans.. lol ur welcome for the second time for handing a win over .. joey should have 3 or more and kyle 2 but no biggie that's the way she goes...

I'm not arguing. I'm stating facts. Take it up with Bill France if you think the point system needs attention.
Nobody is getting paid by where you think they should be in the points. Don't count your chickens til the eggs hatch ;)

Just wana give a shout out to all you haters.

Joey Logano is currently the hottest cup driver. With 2 top 5's, 5 top 10's and a worst finish of 11th over the past 6 races(3 top 5's, 6 top 10's if u count the all star race) Joey has earned more points than any other cup series driver since the Coke 600 at Charlotte...
This is the first post in this thread... I started talking about from the Coke 600... obviously others have done better throughout the season but he is doing the best now.. and the chase is about to start soo its good timing unlike your hottest driver JJ over there in the garage

Im counting on the chase. That's all I even hoped for coming into this year so anything above 12th is a win for me.

Then at least wait for The Chase to get here before you start celebrating. Joey is 108 points out of first; right now nothing is going to change that.

your idea of the hottest and who are really the hottest is the problem. 108 out of first = 8th place. so far, good for a chase position..long way to go..long way. He blows up like Kez next week..it's all over but your cryin. Here it is, here's what he has to do next week to even make it into the chase..if that is the hottest driver, he would have already clinched a spot.
Joey Logano, currently eighth in points, will clinch a top-10 spot with a finish of 11th or better, 12th and at least one lap led or 13th and the most laps led.

did u watch racehub today?... if not ill find a link tomorrow or something... larry mac agrees with me... in fact when asked if he thinks the 22 team is the hottest in nascar he said "absolutely no question they are the hottest team in the garage area"... I found it funny that he used the word "hottest" lol..

LOL. Check out Larry Mac's predictions for last year...especially what he had to say about the last guy to drive the #22
