Hurricane Irma

It'll be a lot safer over there than here. The way that crazy assed thing is doing it may chase me over there. :D
Come on. Brother has plenty of room for your toys. Freezers full of deer meat. And tower where we can watch the sun set.

To be true, when it hits the Gulf Stream the tail will be told. Andrew hit the Gulf Stream a Cat 3 and went ashore a Cat "DAMN" 200 plus MPH winds. Wiped out Fla City and Homestead. It literally windrowed all the Lime orchards down there at that time. I went down with a pickup truck load of water 3 days after to my Equipment Dealer in Homestead and it looked like an Atomic Bomb had gone off. Scary sh*t.

That's a helluva party tower. You sold me and the spouse. But I'm afraid if we leave we'll go no farther than we have to so we can get back in before the National Guard shuts it down. Gotta watch over the property.

I'm in the dead center of Georgia but I'm under a state of emergency here where I am. :( but it will likely just be the bad side effects of the storm here. Everyone please be safe.

Irma really looks like a doozy. My son and his wife live in Orlando and they are staying put.

I've got friends and family of a friend in Naples. This **** is getting very hairy.

Cuba is getting pummeled already..

We are all set here in Central Fla, 160 miles north west of Miami right in the middle of the state. I have (2) generators ready, one 3000 and one 7800, windows shuttered, lots of water, lots of gas, lots of propane, lots of food, batteries, (2) chain saws ready, plastic sheeting and duck tape at the ready. Most everyone in Lake Placid Fla.(where I live) is staying. Highway 27 north, which runs through the middle of Town and only 2 red lights, has been bumper to bumper all day yesterday and today. I am in an area where we kind a look out for each other when needed. The gas stations here are all out.

Fla Highway patrol today has been escorting gas tankers all over the place trying to get relief to folks, hats off to those guys.:salute:

Please pray for all of us down here and pray the storm moves through at a fast pace.

Glad to hear @Whizzer got off the coast, Englewood is very low land.
Stay safe, we'll be thinking about yall

Back to a CAT 5 and set to just cruise right along the northern coast of Cuba. Holy bullballs.

Looking at the projected path of this thing this morning, I think if I were you @Johali, I'd be pulling up stakes and heading inland. Like the old sayin' goes, better to be safe than sorry. No need to be a statistic because of possessions. Good luck to you and the rest of the southern coast.

Alabama's not on the dirty side.

Projected track keeps shifting westward. Looks like a friend in Bonita Springs is in the cross hairs for the eye now.
Niece recently moved and is employed at a hospital in Clearwater, guess she is staying at the hospital now for the duration.
Several other friends both in person and internet spread throughout the state and hopefully they'll be in contact when this is over.

We're thinking about it. We'll know pretty soon.

What is your weather like now?... still quiet or has it started?
Clear skies, 71 degrees rising to 87 later today. If it gets close enough we wont feel anything until Monday night at it's projected speed.

Florida's attorney general was just on MSNBC. She's kind of hot lol.

She was pissed off about price gouging on gas and water.

Andy says it's weakening quickly. Hope that is the case for your sake.

Price gouging? Water at a convenience store in South Carolina was $10.99 for twelve bottles. I guess someone bought it for that but it wasn't us.
Gas was consistent from Florida to North Carolina at $2.69 a gallon.

Irma from space.

That's one of the craziest things I've ever seen. :D
I think it's kind of silly, too. But, I have to admit it's a great place to watch a sunset. No trees to get in the way --- just a clear view to the horizon.

In cooler weather, brother and wife set up a tent on the mid-level and spend the night. In really nice conditions, they just set up cots on the top and sleep under the stars.

Silly thing to ask at a time where there are so many other issues that are sure to come from this storm, but what becomes of the NASCAR season finale?

It probably depends on how much damage is done ---- not only to the track, but to the surrounding area as well. If power isn't restored to
hotels, etc., I would suspect it would have to be moved. If there's no place for the fans to stay, having the race there would be silly, IMO.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. If the devastation to the area is as bad as a it looks like it could be, they need to start plans now for a different location.

Just saw where winds are down to 130 mph and it keeps drifting to the west..

Where you live the top deck would make a good deer stand. :D

Dude, I hope you left the Tampa area at least.

We are fully prepped here, my mom is going to be stuck at Disney until possibly Tuesday. It will probably be one of the safest places in terms of protection because Disney always takes extra precautions when it comes to their buildings. Flooding won't be an issue, but I expect the hurricane force winds to do some damage.

We will be fine, trust me.:)
I left Tampa after work yesterday. A lot of graphics have the TB area being underwater soon...ran into a much higher than usual amount of traffic trying to take back roads north, through Citrus and probably Marion and on. Depending on what today tells us we could head to one of the many schools nearby so we're packed just in case.

I assume it be moved to another ISC track my guess be Richmond, Phoenix or Fontana.

Appreciate all of the positive vibes, a lot of you are more worried about it than the people that are here in the area!

I managed to grab some flash lights at the last minute, batteries, and some portable chargers! Got extremely lucky!

The thing that has me worried is that the people of FL are actually giving a **** about this storm haha..

Usually it's "hell yeah let's hole up and get hammered!"... But for this one it's like "yeah, let's get the **** out of here".
