Joey Logano - 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Champion!

I love the clowns saying the 2 deliberately wrecked the 19. Geez Louise, they completely missed the part about the 38 being the cue ball that knocked the 2 into Suarez. Can't we have a conspiracy theory about David Ragan or something? Also, the main beneficiary of that caution was... Kyle Busch.

Here's my conspiracy theory: King Karma bit Pious Joe and his whole team right square in the ass.
 
It is part of the chaos theory, heads explode and come up with just about anything. They do every year, same ones. That is the only part that isn't unreliable and predictable

Yep. Everyone at the time viewed that caution as a massive gift to the #18, which it was.

But the fact is, its still a team sport. And the rules are what they are.

Nothing anyone can say makes Joey any less of a champion than any other driver. He did what he had to do to win the title. And thats that. Hes a champ

I hate how this place makes me defend drivers I don’t like sometimes. Hell had to do it after the Busch and Larson stuff had to defend Kyle on that. Here I am defending Joey.

I felt gross defending Logano. I actually like Kyle, a lot. Great talent. But you can’t say Joey isnt deserving and then say Kyle was. That logic isn’t right.
 
Gordon won 10 races in 96 and lost to Terry who only had 2. Wins aren’t the only thing that matters, you have to be consistent all year and Joey was, if he wasn’t he wouldn’t have got to this point and once the playoffs started, Joey was the best, 2 wins and 8 top 10s (6 tops 5). Let’s not act like Joey is the first one to win a championship with less wins then others. Hell, Kenseth won one race to Newman’s 8 and won it all.
 
There is no doubt Logano/Penske came alive in the playoffs. They out performed all of the others, but our Nascar press people continued to ignore that fact. Probably too busy showing Logano Truex at Martinsville highlights

Logano: 8.6 Average Finish, 6 Top 5's, 8 Top 10's are the highest in every category

Logano and Busch had two wins in the playoffs to Harvick's one and Truex 0

We dont have the convoluted old points system. If we did there's really no telling who might have come in 4th because these drivers would race differently under the old points system. Strategies would be different. We have a different way of doing things now time to let go of the past.

That's a point right there. But every year it gets compared. Hard for me to tell how accurate it really is also. But like many others, I would like it to go back to what it was years ago compared to what it is now, if nothing more than to end the screaming gerbils that is a good enough reason for me. I think that it would be more special to have it go down to the line the old way, it might not happen as much, but it would be more noteworthy. they had a close points race in the IMSA series this year between 2 ladies, it went down to the later stages of the last race. Pretty cool all neck and neck down to the last race of the season.
 
This whole "old points system" thing is really getting old (pun intended). People really need to stop saying every season that "so n so is the rightful champion" and all that malarky. We have what we have and no amount of nostalgia filled rants are going to change that. the fact still remains that every team starts the season under the same set of rules and the team that executes the best under those rules and does what needs to be done is going to come out on top.

Oh I agree, I was just going off the year he did have being a 4th place year, when they have been a lot worse years for people to win it all.
