KYLE BUSCH VS TRUEX

Point taken, but the 48 isn't anywhere CLOSE to being as good as it was last year, and last year was a gift. Yes, he COULD still win it, but the other guys are going to have to hand it to them on a silver platter. It took an almost bizarre set of circumstances for the 48 to advance to this round, and this time the margin for error has been cut in half.
@Thegeneral23, right back at you. That's been my point all along. I'm not saying it's guaranteed, or even that he'll make the final round, only that it's too early to limit the conversation to two drivers.

But you're the one who started the discussion. If only Truex and Busch count, who do you see as the other two finalists who will be wasting their time?

Speaking of wasting time, us two and others have been trying to be rational about the situation and explain why it isn't a distant possibility for JJ to get to Homestead. You can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink.

I've long thought that phrase was incomplete.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink when his head's up his @$$.

Thanku for being so honest man.. I see Truex as your pic and your still being honest and giving facts.. I been watching this sport for two years now.. even when I’m not at the track I pay to listen to Kyle on the radio from my house.. and the guy could have won plenty of times this season but something would just go wrong .. and it’s been plenty of times I have listened to him struggle all day in that damn car, and the guy just seems to drive it at least to a 5th place.. I’m not trying to say Truex isn’t a good driver , but I haven’t seen Truex take 5-10th place cars and do more with it.. he usually drives just what the car is giving him and most the time it’s up front.. bottom line he just have really really fast cars man lol.. I have turned my radio onto his station and he doesn’t say anything on there most of the time because his car is just that much damn faster than everybody’s it’s crazy lol..

Usually, when I hear radio transmissions from the #78 camp, it goes along the lines of "Stage winner - MTJ!" or "Man, here we go again with these **** idiots not knowing what they're ****ing doing."

No problem, man. I have watched every Cup race this year, and even with the differing events and headlines that may come from each and every one of the races, you can usually bank on Kyle and Martin being up front. My man has not really had to take a 5th-10th place car and do anything with it, you know. It has been a dream season on that front.

Whoever is in second place with 3 laps left going into turn 3. The Goo Jibbs racers are notorious for that "specific maneuver" We all pretty much know that it will be a green white checker wreckfest at the end. A replay of last year. Or henny damlin will block the competition so his jibbs teammates can win. Idiot.

I'm going to direct this right at The General. I agree that the car has not been fast enough and that he has had a stroke of luck to get to this point, but what happens if/when he gets into the final 4? A little more pressure knowing that the 7 time Champ managed to sneak his way into the final race. Then what happens if/when they unload with a top 10 car on speed? A little more pressure knowing that the 7 time Champ is quick enough to contend. Then what happens when you get to the final stage and he has been running near the top 5? A little more pressure knowing he is still sniffing the front. Finally what happens when there is a late race restart and he is sitting within striking distance?

Point is that pressure bursts pipes. When he still is breathing he has a shot. All of this could be for nothing and come Homestead he may be out of it, but it only takes 1 win and some luck. Just like KB got that 1 win last week with a little luck. I am rooting for KB because his first Championship was a bit of a sham imo and I want to see everyone have to eat crow and let that year go. Let's not forget that when he spun last week he kept that car off the wall and ultimately that saved his chance. Then he managed to wheel a damaged car to a pretty damn good finish.

He is there and because of that you have to be aware of him.

Personally, I'm hoping Chase Elliott goes winless but wins the championship with a second place finish in Miami. Or Jimmie Johnson wins again and NASCAR comes up with another new points system next year.
Had he held on to a top 5 or so finish last week I think Chase would have pointed his way in. And then who knows what happens at Homestead. We weren't far away from seeing it unfold. Would take a miracle at this point unfortunately.

Stage points......... :idunno:

Didn't Kyle Busch stage point his way through the Round of 12 with three DNFs?

My dream scenario is for the 18 and 78 to take each other out at Homestead, leaving the 11 and 48 in the championship fight. Final laps, Chase takes out Denny who was running well ahead of the 48.

I thought he had three DNFs based on something NBC said on a pre-race show, guess not. :idunno:

I've been busy attending funerals for relatives all year.

He failed to finish Dega and had some other poor finishes .... but not 3 DNF Kyle needed results at Martinsville though. Sorry to hear about the relatives .... if you need to talk or vent send me a pm

Welcome to Andy's world, where the rules are made up and the points don't matter

I'm not calling anybody out, but I AM somewhat amazed at how many opinions come from people who aren't even watching the races......... o_O

Man, Kurt Busch got pole? I didn't see qualifying, but man, come on. That dude's been irrelevant since the Daytona 500. Obviously a sham. :sarcasm:

This thread has been funny though lol.. hey guys I need help.. are dodge chargers good cars??
Depends on your particular definition of 'good car'. If you gave me one today, I'd only have it for as long as it took me to drive it for a trade-in. It's nothing I personally want in an automobile.

Consumer Reports ranks it 10th of 41 'Large Cars', giving it a grade of 65 out of 100. It gets an 85 grade on their road test. 4 out of 5 owners are satisfied with it. Their reliability isn't too bad, with most recent models eventually having problems after three years with transmission, brakes, A/C, and electronics. Averages 13 mpg in town, 31 on the highway, if you care.

In regard to Kurt Bush winning the pole...rumor has it that Monster Energy is not happy w/ the return they have gotten w/ their big $$ investment in NASCAR......maybe NASCAR threw them a bone..

Yep, it's just a question of whether they convinced 39 other drivers to all slow down just enough or whether they secretly tampered with all the timing equipment or just flatout lied to the network.
