He is concentrating on his Cup ride right now. He doesn't want what happened last time to happen again. He may never race on dirt again as long as he is driving a cup car. But if he does, I will be rooting for him.

I think you have plenty of company. Many of the R-Fers had Larson losing the race in the first, second and third stages, not to mention the finish.

That all depends on if he wins the regular season points or not. If he doesn't win the points race because he skipped the 600 then he let his fans down.

What pisses me off about the doom and gloom crowd is that while they are hooked to their "NASCAR sucks" narratives, they missed what Larson did. I hate that he won, but I appreciate how he did it. This was masterclass ****, and even I understand and acknowledge it.....This was a great performance at the greatest track in the world at a race everybody wanted.

Yeah and you can't leave the crew chief out of the equation, Cliff Daniels. He is probably the best in the series right now. He figured out how to zig when almost all of the others were zagging. Larson had enough gas to do a "look at me suckers, plenty of fuel left burn out", while many of the others were getting pushed back to the pits.

No, but nobody is going to turn them down. It makes the situation worse for all of those who are in the playoffs that didn't get 15 extra playoff points.
No, but 15 playoff points makes it a hell of a lot easier to make the final four. You can't argue that missing the 600 doesn't make it more difficult for Larson to win the championship. There was also 8 playoff points available in that race in addition to the 15 that he would get for winning the points which he most likely does by a long shot if he raced in the 600.
This is all correct but he's the regular season points leader with the most wins and one of the fastest cars each week... he gets points if he wins the regular season right? Call me naïve, but I'll take my chances with that scenario.

It doesn't say much for the competition if he wins the regular season championship running one less race than the rest of the field either.
No different than losing an engine early and finishing 38th or 39th.
Screw the competition. If a driver with a dominate season loses the last jackpot race to a driver that has two or so wins, third or fourth in points 60 or 70 points away, what does that say about the winner OR the competition? They are lucky? Hell of a way to have a championship in my book.

I dont feel let down either. I thought it was incredibly bad ass he ran the 500. I'd bet the farm most of his fans feel the same way. Again it feels like fans of other drivers are telling Larson fans we should feel short changed for some reason.
He has already won NASCAR championships, Chil Bowls, World of Outlaws, High Limits, and other series races which I really enjoyed...but winning the Indy 500 would be the absolute most awesome thing he would have accomplished in his racing career as far as I'm concerned. Others may feel different about that but that is ok. To each their own.
