I applaud the effort too but I also congratulate NASCAR for finding the advantage. I think this is the first time in recent memory that NASCAR took points away. Does he still get credit for the win? (In the past the driver still got the win even when caught breaking the rules).

yeah he keeps the win because of an old rule that they didn't wants fans leaving the race not knowing who the winner is.. Make absolutely no sense in today's world. You would think they would want the headlines.
 
That's why I say take away the win, the points and money. How many times does it take a newspaper on the nose to house break a dog? Until they get the point they'll still go in the house.

They got almost a full race forfeit and owner points race forfeit..and Nobody but close fans know of it. Take the race win away and all of the talking heads will have that news worthy event on the tube cross platforms. Might even make the morning shows.
 
Not a huge deal.. I'd bet they aren't appealing so they can have Todd stay home for Dega.. where a CC has less of an impact.. same with the 2.. they waved the final appeal and Wolfe is sitting out Dega.

The playoff points thing kinda sucks but it is what it is.. I think they can make it up.

Still got the W tho :D

I think part of it is also that they really can't say he wouldn't have won if the car was legal. No way to know.

ehhh, They have been D.Q. ing cars for years in other series for cheating, it isn't weather he won or not, he got caught cheating. Just like they found a driver using illegal weights in the Snowball derby, D.Q.ed. They don't do it in Nascar but I think they should. Especially with the latest points system, losing a win doesn't make a whole lot of difference anyway, everybody knows Logano is going to win at least one race.
 
Yeah sure give the win to the 2nd place car. I'm sure the 2 had noooo issues whatsoever with being legal, it just happened to be the fastest car by a mile. See what kind of slippery slope that gets you? How far back in the field do you want to go and teardown the cars?

As long as Harvick doesn't jack up the field on a restart and drivers don't bump draft in the wrong places.....oh and Ryan Newman doesn't barrel roll I will be happy. I just hope Goodyear gives Kyle some super good tires and the yellow lines have been freshly painted so he doesn't inadvertently strike out.

We understand and accept the penalty that was communicated to us today by NASCAR following last weekend’s victory by the No. 22 car at Richmond. We are disappointed by the notice, however, we do not plan to appeal the penalty. The No. 22 team remains focused on competing for wins as we work towards the NASCAR Playoffs and a Championship. Race Engineer Miles Stanley will serve as Joey Logano‘s crew chief this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, while Greg Erwin will help call race strategy on Sunday.

How does the swerving reset it? If the truck arm attachment point is intentionally sloppy to allow rear end movement how can swerving tighten it up in order to pass inspection?

Ha ha at those saying Penske will just be a normal team now. How cumbersome. Those cucumber engines will visit victory lane many more times this year and a Penske driver will be at the Championship ceremony accepting that #1 spot wearing a cumberbun.
 
In no way am I condoning what they did so don't get me wrong when I say this at the end of the day rules are rules and they broke them they were wrong but....... this rule is one of the reasons NASCAR is dying because why is it a problem that somebody out engineered somebody else and somebody made a car go faster than everybody else that's what racing was built from. NASCAR doesn't understand why they're losing fans but they killed off so many different types of fans by changing so many things.

Blah blah blah most of you were on the same page I don't need to beat a dead horse. Penske will be just fine after this and somebody else will do something to get ahead and we'll just play the same game over and over again that's why we watch.

I was told, by a member of my favorite race team, that if NASCAR wants to bust a team with an equipment violation, all they have to do is start tearing the car down...

Too much of NASCAR controlling the race, if you ask me - a large part of NASCAR's current problems.
