Nascar Trivia

TKJ, please confirm if Restrictor Plate was correct or not. If he was then it is his go.

I checked. Bobby Isaac's last race was the 1976 Charlotte World 600. He had engine failure after 39 laps & finished 38th in a Chevrolet #6 sponsored by Howard Furniture. It was his second race of the season, he also raced in the Carolina 500 at Rockingham that year.

RPK, rules of the game "require" the person that asked the question to confirm the answer. Now and then a person may think they have the right answer but it tuns out they do not have the answer that was expected by the person asking. We will wait for TKJ to confirm.

Go Ahead and ask a question RPK. You were close enough that I gave it to you anyway.

This one will be easy:

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts was on the side of a racecar once for one season. What year was it & whose car?

I am going to just take a stab at it and say Joe Ruttman

No Ma'am. Joe Ruttman did have a very colorful car that season with the Dinner Bell brand on his hood but no Krispy Kreme...

Are we still looking for the answer to the question I posted?

Not Kyle Petty nor Alan Kulwicki. By the way, Kyle Petty won the first Winston Cup race on TNN Motorsports the Nashville Network back in 1991 the Goodwrench 500 which he won for the second straight year. This time in the Mello Yello Sabco Pontiac for then crew chief Gary Nelson before NASCAR snatched him up. Alan Kulwicki started the year off sponsorless until about Richmond when a little known company named Hooters came onboard. I thought he did a great job for ZEREX but oh well. Naw it wasn't Kulwicki or K Petty.

Its got to be Davey Allison

We have a winner! Man I have to say that I didn't think that one was gonna be that difficult. In between the 1990 & 91 seasons Davey Allison did a promotion sweepstakes with Krispy Kreme. As a result, he carried them on the lower rear of his Cup & Busch series cars for the duration of the 1991 season. It was the only time I can ever remember seeing them on a car.

A little aside info, I talked with Krispy Kreme about a sponsorship in 2001 and was not successful. At that time Krispy Kreme was flying high and their stock was soaring. They told me that all the teams in Nascar were after them for a sponsorship.

The poor little fan from the planet Moron has been sent to the corner to try and learn a little manners. :) He reminds me of the old trolls that used to drop by. All he wants to do is stir up trouble, trying to make as many people ticked off at him as he can. Maybe this punishment will teach him that if he's nice, he can stick around and play.

Ok, if i am interpreting this correct. Anyone, post a question to get us back on track.

I will post a question. I will make it an easy one this time.

Who failed to keep a 16 year winning streak in 2002?

was it Rusty Wallace winning at least one race a season...??

So what happened to kam? He used to be on here. Was he cornered or just sent away?

OK here we go:

During the 1980's, four drivers won races in seasons where they competed in less than half the Cup schedule. Who were they?

Jamie McMurry
Cale Yarborough
Benny Parsons
Buddy Baker
David Pearson
Tim Richmond
Greg Sacks
Bobby Allison

You got it tkj24. Although you supplied too many answers, Jamie McMurray didn't drive NASCAR in the 80's. Cale Yarborough raced in at least 16 events in every season that he won a Cup event in the 80's. Buddy Baker won races in 1980 when he competed in 19 events & 1983 when he competed in 21 events. Greg Sacks competed in 20 races in 1985 when he won the Pepsi 400. Below is the answer breakdown.

Answer part 1: David Pearson. He drove in only 9 of 31 races in 1980 winning the Rebel 500 at Darlington.

Answer part 2: Benny Parsons. He drove in only 14 of 30 races in 1984 winning the Coca-Cola 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Answer part 3: Tim Richmond. He drove in only 8 of 29 races in 1987 winning the Miller High Life 500 at Pocono & the Budweiser 400 at Riverside.

Answer part 4: Bobby Allison. He drove in only 13 of 29 races winning the 1988 season opening Daytona 500.

Just a side note...the reason Bobby Allison didn't run anymore races in 88... that was the year in Pocono that Jocko Mojocomo(spl?) hit him in the drivers door almost ending Bobby's life. It did end his racing career. BTW...all the races were not televised at that time and that race was PPV and If I'm correct, it cost me $35.00 to watch it on cable.
