They have a system to do so, They assigned pit stalls by owner points because no qualifying. I don't know what system they use for the garage spots.
This is from 2013 IDK if they still use it but I would guess they do

Garage assignments are decided long before the first hauler arrives at Daytona International Speedway or any other track. They’re based on the driver’s point standings.
 
I've been pulling garage doors down for 50 years. NEVER seen the rope tied into a noose. You can call it by another name because it has a very slight difference. But consider what state it was done in. I'm with Bubba. Whomever tied those knew exactly what they were doing. The whole thing HAS been unfortunate. But I won't be convinced the "tie'er" didn't do it absolutely on purpose. It WAS random that one of them ended up in Bubba's stall. But as seems to be the norm now everything is a conspiracy.

If your feelings about issues of urban violent crime are so intense as to demand that they intrude on discussion of this incident in a garage at Talladega, I would think that you would find any and all racing topics not worthy of your time by comparison. How could anyone care about an auto race when people are dying in the streets?

This reminds me so much of the Manti Teo story. Idk if you guys remember but he’s the All-American LB for Notre Dame back in 2013 who became a major story because his girlfriend died that Fall.

As it turned out he was catfished, they only ever met online, and it was found out to be a hoax. Both that and this are just very odd stories that make you feel uneasy.

It’s unfortunate but these are journalists being paid to sell a story and a narrative. While the unity is nice, it’s upsetting to see it was all over a garage door rope. The media was more concerned about their story than the truth

Matt Weaver was making up his own story and said Steve Phillips said this and he said that and it was B.S. Nascar blocked him and the Autoweek media group he worked for. Needless to say the tweet disappeared, Matt came up with some B.S. that said he miss read what was said. This kind of totally unprofessional crap journalism not only is bad for the sport but anywhere else we don't need it either.

Now that NASCAR has successfully reached out to the FBI for assistance in identifying a knotted rope, would they consider getting them to check out this putrid aero package, too? Politics and racism aside, I have zero faith that any leadership in this regime is capable of making decisions to help the on track product or get this 2022 car to be successful.

I think the vast majority of people have moved on from the 1960's. To be sure there is a fringe minority of white trash racists. And there's some fringe black people who feel the same. Most people just get on with their lives and don't have time for that nonsense.
 
Just saw the CNN video....yeah, he’s doing the full on victim status thing. Got the impression his take now is that the “fact” it was a noose means it was meant to send a message In some form or fashion. Just my impression. He’s going to ride this wave of fame for all it’s worth.

A noose is a self tightening end knot that when pulled will continue to synch the loop. If that knot was pulled on over and over in 2019 and in 2020 there would be no more loop left. It wasn’t a noose, it was a non-slip noose-like knot (most likely a bimini twist) acting as a handle. Perception does not equal reality.

But let’s play a game and say it was an actual noose tied in or prior to November 2019. To act like the context doesn’t matter is shameful. A noose by itself is not a symbol if hate, it’s a tool. The intent at which the noose is created matters, and in this case there was not a noose created in an effort to intimidate Bubba Wallace, or anyone. It’s just a knot.

Bubba clinging on to “well it’s still a noose” is terrible optics and makes it looks like he wants there to be a hate crime so the emotions and actions from Monday were justified. They weren’t. They were based on a hyper reactive lie. The faster that is acknowledged, the faster this story moves out of the headlines and we can return to racing without distraction.

Excuse me, but I'm NOT the one who took that thread FAR beyond the guardrails of a NASCAR discussion. I'm NOT the one who tried to turn this supposed act of racist stupidity as an indictment of the entire country, a political philosophy and a President. Even if this Talladega incident had been 100% what it initially reported to be, it pales in comparison to what happened in Chicago last weekend, and you would have to dig DEEP into the news sources to find ANY mention of it, while this morning's Yahoo home page has MULTIPLE stories about a rope tied to a garage door (STILL getting the story wrong by the way). Perspective people, perspective.

The problem is both of you are convinced you are right and won't even consider the other's viewpoint. That pretty much sums up where our nation is.
 
Yeah the FBI actually did a disservice by calling it a noose maybe to placate Bubba when clearly, like Chex said each time you pulled on a noose it would tighten.

It's time for Bubba to go under the radar and zip it.

I love bubba but you guys are right

He needs to take a step back and relax for a bit and chill with the interviews. The cnn interview was embarrassing

But i do not blame nascar for any of this. It might look like an over reaction but i think the way they handled it is great. The positive out weights the negative and the best news is that theres no hate crime
 
This has been interesting, and the initial thread reporting the “noose”.
Garage walkthrough video on prior page shows other “nooses” as well as big knots on the door rope....all used - I assume! lol - as a means to easily grab ahold of said ropes and pull the door down.
Big knots....smaller ones, same for the loops. SMH

hypersensitive society took the ball here and ran.

I’m probably gonna get railed on for this but this is why I don’t really care for Bubba...he’s an attention whore. I believe I’ve seen where he has said he doesn’t want to be seen as a black race car driver, just a race car driver but he sure enjoys the former title and plays it to the hilt.
at this point it looks like he’s upset he’s not the victim he got to be and wants the focus to remain on him as long as possible. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt his sponsorship needs either though.

I'm deeply disappointed in him. Been a fan of his since trucks, thought he was a genuine cool dude, but between this and the Bowman incident he's showing his true colors.

I hope this is just the stress talking for him...
