On Going - Songs You Like

ZZ Top apparently never made a video of this song, but this is the best could find. I just love the guitar work and the groove on this tune.

La Grange

This song would likely put a lot of people to sleep because it's so slow, but not me! It's actually one of my favorites by them. If I'm ever feeling down about life, this is one of the songs I listen to!

I couldn't decide which of their songs I liked better so I posted these two. Takin' Care Of Business was in the running too.

God I wish LP would get back to their Hybrid Theory and Meteora sound. I loved them until they went all U2 on us with Minutes to Midnight. There were maybe 3 songs total that I didn't like on those first 2 albums combined.

Keith Whitley "dont close your eyes" at the opry a week before the album release.

"I am over you"

I'm a lifetime lover of the blues, whoever does it well..I'm a fan. he kicks ass on this song.
Same here, brother. My all-time favorite is Stevie Ray Vaughan, but I absolutely love guys like Albert Collins, Magic Slim, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Kenny Wayne Shepperd, Buddy Guy, and, of course my favorite of the guys who are alive and active today is Joe Bonamassa.

For any Led Zeppelin fans out there, I just downloaded Celebration Day, a live concert recorded in 2007 at the O2 Arena in London. It features Jason Bonham on drums, with the original remaining members. Pretty good stuff.

And still in honor of St. Patrick's Day, some more songs from my mother's homeland

Some great lyrics on this one, by the way.

His eyes they closed
and his last breath spoke
he had seen all to be seen
a life once full
now an empty vase
wilt the blossoms
on his early grave

walk away me boy
walk away me boy
and by morning we'll be free
wipe that golden tear
from your mother dear
and raise what's left
of the flag for me
then the rosary beads
count them 1 2 3
fell apart as they hit the floor
in a garb of black
we must pay respect
to the color we were born to mourn

walk away me boys
walk away me boys
and by morning we'll be free
wipe that golden tear
from your mother dear
and raise what's left
of the flag for me

In its place there grew
an angry festered wound
full of hatred and remorse
where I pick and scratch
till the blood it matched
the silent rage now that fills my lungs

for there are many ways
to kill a man they say
with bayonet, axe or sword
but son a bullet fired
from a shapeless guise
just put the shell of a Thompson gun

walk away me boys
walk away me boys
and by morning we'll be free
wipe that golden tear
from your mother dear
and raise what's left
of the flag for me

from the east out to the western shore
where many men and many more will fall
but no angel flies with me tonight
though freedom reigns on all
and curse the name for which
we slaved our days
so every men chose Kingdom Come

But sure as night turns day
it's the passion play
oh my god
what have they done
with madman's rage
well they dug our graves
but the dead rise again you fools

walk away me boys
walk away me boys
and by morning we'll be free
wipe that golden tear
from your mother dear
and raise what's left
of the flag for me
walk away me boys
walk away me boys
and by morning we'll be free
wipe that golden tear
from your mother dear
and raise what's left
of the flag for me

Rediscovered this song today.
Takes me back to my senior year in high school.
Was all over rock radio back then but you never hear it now.

Joe Satriani - The Crush of Love (live):

Thanks for posting this. That is, BY FAR, the most I've ever enjoyed anything I've heard or seen from Joe Satriani. I really never cared for his sound, even though I respected his playing ability tremendously. The effects he uses on his guitars are just not my thing, too synth sounding or something I guess. But, even though the sound is the same on this song, I just really liked the song and the playing enough to really enjoy the whole thing. That was great!

I woke up with this old song in my head today for some unknown reason. I love the lyrics.

Born in a dry season
Wind and sand have blown through me
Haven't found shade anywhere
Only moments of relief

But sometimes I think I hear thunder
Somewhere on the horizon line
If I could just find a way to get under
The rain that can reach this soul of mine

I pray for rain to come
And wash away what has made me numb
And I pray for a raging storm
To drown the sin in me

And the rain comes in the nick of time
I swallow hard 'cause my throat's been dry
The rain comes beating on my skin
Till I'm washed away, nothing left within
When your rain comes, your rain comes

Seasons have passed so quickly
Since I felt that first big storm
But still there have been times of drought
When I've prayed for the clouds to form

And I often hear thunder
And I know of its coming rain
Many times in my life I kneel under
The moving showers that brought this change

I pray for rain to come
And wash away what has made me numb
And I pray for a raging storm
To drown the sin in me

And the rain comes in the nick of time
I swallow hard 'cause my throat's been dry
The rain comes beating on my skin
Till I'm washed away, nothing left within
When your rain comes, your rain comes

I pray for rain to come
And wash away what has made me numb
I pray for a raging storm
To drown the sin in me

And the rain comes in the nick of time
I swallow hard 'cause my throat's been dry
The rain comes beating on my skin
Till I'm washed away, nothing left within
When your rain comes, your rain comes

This is the south's version of 'the day the music died'. A guitar opus from some former members of the Outlaws...

The Outlaws...

I may have posted this video before, I don't remember. I am just captivated by it though. This is Stevie Ray Vaughan at his absolute best. The song is titled Lenny. Lenny is what he called his wife Lenore, in case you didn't know and were wondering.
