Race pics and experiences

Is this a Tractor Pull course?
No catch fence that I can see, just a small concrete barrier and that ain't no thing for a Monster Truck at speed.
Yeah the Buck is mostly used for mud bogs and tractor pulls, with some demo derbies and monster truck shows mixed in

Heres some video from my first trip to a World of Outlaws race at Bridgeport Speedway, me and the girlfriend are thinking about renting a camper and hitting the world finals in November.

Welcome to the world of dirt racing, my friend. You seem hooked:D

I truly am hooked Sunday night I made the 2 hour drive out to Port Royal to watch the 2nd night of the Bob Weikert Memorial great racing that saw Danny Deitrich finish second to Logan Wagner but win the bulls head trophy for the weekend on a points tie breaker. After seeing him win the Outlaws Race at Bridgeport last Tuesday me and my girlfriend have both jumped on DD as our PA Posse guy. It was also the first time I saw dirt late models race in person up until now I'd only seen Sprints and mods.

Been to Port a few times. Look at old pics of that place. It was a gem and still is, the Speed Palace. The locals love that place and know their racing inside and out.. plus alot of kids. Good times. Nice pics and vids too!

I plan on getting to Port Royal within the next few weeks!

Spring race at Talladega this year:

My boy in the GEICO program display car and a pic of the on-track action from our seats. It was a pretty full house, and the crowd was pretty lively.

That's awesome Bud.....I'm a Joey fan and to me it's obvious that he really is a nice guy.

BTW does the Nascar Pick 'Em 2019 trophy look similar to that?

Sure enough except it's at least two times larger.

Been a busy few weeks of racing for me. Last Saturday I went to Airport Speedway for micros where I think I did my job by turning my girlfriends 5 year old daughter into a race fan. She caught a ball they threw that had a number on it and if your driver podiumed they got to go on track and get their picture taken with them. She got the race winner:D

Last Sunday I went to the enduros at Grandview Speedway, I have to say 4x4 outlaws are an interesting sight racing on a 3/8th mile high banked oval.

Last night drove out to Selinsgrove to see the 410s as part of PA Speedweek. Good ol' Smoke nearly won it but didnt have the car on the short run at the end after a terrifying crash by Ryan Smith when his top wing failed and he flipped hard. Plan is to head to Grandview for the 410s tomorrow night.

I'm having so much fun introducing my girlfriend and daughter to racing, she comes from a family that's done a lot of demolition derby but not racing but it wasnt hard to make the crossover.

The Sonoma race did not disappoint. We loved it. Here are some pictures.

This thing was a hoot. They gave some people a ride around the track in the basket and it hauled ass. It looked too top heavy to be safe but apparently it wasn't.

Nice photos. Little surprised you sat in Turn 2 (or did you move around?) as for some reason I wasn't a huge fan of that spot? Although The Point had some great viewing spots.
We moved around on a shuttle. Drivers meeting, the garage, pit road, the point, The Redwood deck in turn two, all over. It was a helluva good time. :booya:

The Point is awesome.

The track is amazing. They have opened up premium parking (for a fee), and the shuttle system enables you to get your arms around the whole track--which is pretty doable to begin with given the compact nature of the layout. The people their give a crap about your experience.

I liked the track and the experience. I thought it was more of a NASCAR issue than Sonoma.

Got tickets to the Bristol Night Race, any recommendations for tent camping? I get off Friday at noon so gonna book it up there but don't feel like pulling my trailer.

We've stayed at this TN State Park before. It's about 30 minutes from the track and you can make online reservations. It's inexpensive also. There are a few sites left for race weekend but will fill up quickly.

First time at the Glen yesterday. No pics but might have some soon. Been to the area and town before but never the track. Surprised it wasn't bad getting out. They do a good job with that. We went up without tickets. It's about the same distance as Pocono from where I live but a little longer timewise. Not bad though. A little over 2.5 hrs.

Ended up buying GA tickets which are pretty expensive from the track. Can't say I recommend doing this because you are limited as to where you can go to set up shop and watch the race. We didn't do too badly though, found a little hillside between the front stretch and turn 1 so we could see about the first 7 pit stalls clearly, and we had a good view of them haulin' down the front stretch into 1, and going around 1. There was a big video screen just to our left so we didn't miss anything. You can do a lot of walking but we were satisfied where we were. Next time we're getting grandstand tickets somewhere. The Jackie Stewart didn't look too full compared to the front stretch and the two big stands, the 90 and the Argetsinger. Those were pretty much full. Saw one person selling tickets outside. Had two and we needed three so I didn't engage him about it.

I know better than to buy track concessions but I was busy Saturday and didn't have time to make sandwiches to take up so were just going to buy track food but the problem is there is very little track food if you're GA. If you have a grandstand seat, there's another gate that must be entered to find anything to eat. View was OK where we were but not worth the inflated GA price. Should have bought off StubHub before we left in the morning. I'll try to get some pics up when I can. Everybody had fun though and it was a good race, obviously. We decided we'd do it again but I have no doubt it can be done way cheaper than we did it. $125 for adult GA at the track, and that's all they had available. On the plus side a teenage kid was $20. So we got hosed but learned for next time. Parking is free and beers were pretty cheap compared to other sports events. Overall a good trip and saw a new track. It is beautiful country up there, and from PA the ride up is easy and great scenery.

Coming home down Rt 15 (99) there were fans hanging out at overpasses, rest stops, and side roads all the way down to Williamsport waving at the haulers and getting them to honk. This is typical of Pocono too, they sit all along 80 and 81 heading south. Just a question, do people in the south do this too or is it a northeast thing? I mean you had people with flags up and chairs out along the side of the road partying it up to see a hauler go by. It's a hoot. I know they've been doing this for years but is it done in other parts of the country?

Here are a few from yesterday if this works...I have some speed shots from this location if I can figure out how to post video.

Just got back from Bristol, hell of a weekend. Drove up Friday with my brother called Hicks White Top campground about an hour out made sure they had tent spots rolled in set up and walked over to track for Xfinity Race. Was standing in line for tickets and a guy gave us two we returned the favor with beer and watched the race from front stretch. After the race the campground had a live band and $10 all you can drink draft beer so partied till about 2 in the morning then crashed.

Spent most of Saturday around the track and had seats in between 3-4 for the race. Was really hoping DiBurrito was gonna pull it off but either way was hell of a race. If you haven't been to Bristol you gotta go and I highly recommend Hicks campground if you're there for a good time. We walked to the track and it wasn't bad but there are shuttles if you need / want them.

The Roof at turn 4 looks like a great spot to hang out.
