Denny Hamlin Uses Casey Mears' Secret Set-Up in Kansas Win

After winning a tense battle with Martin Truex Jr. at Kansas, Denny Hamlin admitted in victory lane that the win was because of a small, green gecko. Apparently the gecko provided Hamlin with the secrets kept by one-time race-winner Casey Mears.
"After seeing all those commercials, I got a little curious." A victorious Hamlin said in victory lane. "So I went searching for the gecko and found him hanging out at Germain Racing. Once I got some hard liquor in him, he was ready to talk."
"Everybody knows that Casey's the best driver in the sport", said Hamlin's crew chief, Darian Grubb. "I'm always wary of taking the driver's advice for a brand-new set-up, but once I heard it was Mears' set-up, I mean, really, how can you say no?"
The gecko, a sponsor representative from Mears' sponsor Geico, was reportedly also willing to divulge other trade secrets to Hamlin.
"I also got Casey's top-secret bbq sauce--er, I mean, SECRET sauce--recipe from the little lizard", said Hamlin. "It just goes to show that you have to pay attention to The Little Guy. No, not Chad Little. NO, not Jason Leffler."
The gecko was unavailable for comment, though unconfirmed sources have him in hiding from The Dreaded Mears Gang.

That's funny NeverNeutral. I was confused by that commercial, until it was revealed that Casey was talking about BBQ sauce.

My wife asked me to stop at the store on my way home last night for a half gallon of milk. I saw Kyle Busch's picture on the carton. Where's Kyle been lately? I haven't been hearing too much.

We all know Kyle has a touch of Biffle eye, so I laughed out loud when he complained that a vibration was making his eyes pop out. That's what it took to get some media coverage this year.

What do you think is going on with him this year? If his intent is to keep a low profile, he's accomplished his goal.

It's really hard to figure. Carl is down, but that's his history. I'm starting to think that Kyle NEEDS to race 2 or 3 times a week to keep his edge. I also believe that Kyle doesn't believe he is good enough to beat teams like the 48 and 14 for a championship. That's why he spent most of his career earning glory in the minors.

Ouch.

Huh? Every driver has his own psyhcology. Look at Kez. He performs best when his nuts are over a fire and when he feels the world is doubting him. When all is quite, he starts saying outlandish things and seeking new pressure to heap on himself. "I'm ready to lead Penske" or "I'm the one guy who can provide leadership to NASCAR". WTF dude? 2 years into your career, and you think you can push Tony, Gordon and JJ aside? He tried to turn the Bristol repave into a huge conspiracy. The guy thrives on being the outsider who is doubted by everyone. Then he has something to prove. He's sometimes hard to take, but he's a fascinating character. I do see him changing this year, so I wonder how he will get his edge back. Watching drivers shove him out of the way or race him harder than they need with no reaction from Brad has been a bit disheartening.

Yes Carl is another story. Man how things change from year to year.

Last year Carl layed back, drove cautious and lost the championship by 1 point. This was a reaction to being too aggressive in 2008 and wrecking himself and Biffle out of the championship lead. I told MoeJoe that Carl would over compensate and race like an over aggressive ass in 2012. He started out wrecking Kenseth and Newman, then pulled in his horns and has started to get his head together.

What racer would tell the world he had practiced being the best loser NASCAR has ever seen BEFORE the last race? The guy is a mental mess.

Wonder if he's still on some sort of double secret probation? :)

lol. He decided to go the political route, which means the vets decide the ground rules and when it's OK for THEM to race you different. It's the most annoying thing in NASCAR. I'm PRAYING that Jeff Gordon will say "screw this" and go back to taking what he wants when he wants it. 5 years of JJ, the most loved driver in the garage, has taken it's toll. Screw this nice, friendly crap. I want to see hard ass racing with an attitude.

Correction..... zero points..... 4 wins. Right? I think anyhow. They were tied, correct. The wins were the tie breaker.

One pass, even for 32nd earlier in the chase, wins Carl the championship. That's losing by one point. Remember Talladega? He was pushing Biffle, and with around 10 laps left, Greg kept asking him to push to the front. Carl insisted they continue to lay back, and he finished 11th. They were charging at the end. If he wasn't such a *****, he would have finished in the top 10 and won the championship.

The best line of the whole season was during the rain delay at Homestead. Tony was walking back to his car and passed Jack Roush. "Tell your boy to not sleep too long, because I'm coming for him". Tony said that Jack looked at him like he had 2 heads. Tony was trying hard to get Carl to get wreckless, but it had the opposite effect and caused Carl to be even MORE cautious. Carl raced to NOT lose the Cup, and it's a story that was missed by the media. They were falling all over themselves nut hugging "the best loser ever". Even DW was impressed. WTF?

WOW! I can tell the FB has had his morning coffee! Nice work, Mang! Several terrific posts!

Now that Gordo has a wife and kids (not to mention some grey hair and a prospective TV career in his future) he does not have the same intensity he had when he was trying to prove himself against the likes of Wallace and Earnhardt. His dominant days are behind him, IMO - no matter what he says.

Eddie Haskell LOST that Championship last year (or gave it away) and it made me sooo happy. He would have been effing insufferable had he won the title. The less I hear or see him, the better!

Who knows about Pee Wee but I tend to agree with FB when he theorizes that Kyle NEEDS to run in the other two series in order to maintain his edge. Could have something to do with a full season of TRD engines for him as well. Plus, he is now married, and anyone who is (or has been) married knows what a distraction THAT can be! lol

As for the Biff... Bug-Eyed Dummy can drive!!

In Charlotte area and wanna see Kyle Busch? 3 to 5 p.m. April 25 at Subway, 1480 Concord Parkway N. at Carolina Mall food court in Concord.

I thought Tony no longer had the fire, then he proves me wrong last year. Dale Earnhardt won 3 championships after turning 40, so I'm hoping it's a trend. A guy gets a little older and starts thinking about his legacy. With how he's been running, JG could have 2 wins and be leading the points.

Kevin Harvick will be at Ollie's Bargan Outlet Grand Opening, 4/25 from 9am-11am. Henderson, NC

Food courts and bargain outlets makes them sound so domesticated. No wonder these guys can't perform. Their/there/they're nuts have been cut off.

Those that don't follow JG closely have no idea how intensely driven he is to win races and championships. His intensity has increased greatly ever since his back healed.

the guy is back. Last year he yelled "I just beat Kyle Busch" as if he was done. I don't expect to hear any nonsense like that from him this year. I see an intense rivalry developing between he and JJ.
