Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

We shall see about Jeff. I have always liked him. I would love to be proven wrong!

Good Doggie.

I found this interesting:

Richmond Cup Qualifying record, Brian Vickers 2004 129.983 mph
Nationwide Qualifying Record, Kyle Busch 2004 129.348 mph

The NW cars are faster thru the turns, and the tracks too short for the cup cars to make top speeds.

Just saw this:
MRN will provide online coverage of Hamlin's Short-Track Showdown: Motor Racing Network will kick off a full weekend of coverage from Richmond International Raceway with Thursday's exclusive webcast of the annual Denny Hamlin Short-Track Showdown. Reigning Sprint Cup Series champion #14-Tony Stewart is among the NASCAR drivers scheduled to compete in the 100-lap special event that'll be run in two segments. MotorRacingNetwork.com will stream live coverage starting at 8 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, April 26.

I agree. That was a good time. I think it was better than the Short track showdown shootout thingamajigger

DW and Larry Mac just brought up a good point(imagine that). Do you think race weekends should be two or three day events? Should practice be the same time every weekend?

I think Practice should be Thursday AM to evening for all 3. Qualify all 3 on Friday morning, then run the truck race in the evening. Saturday for NW and Cup, with Sunday as the rain day. So, 2 days of racing, 1 night in a Hotel or even a day trip. Fans would also have an easier time getting out and on the road at 9 or 10 PM.

Vickers will replace Michael Waltrip, who is committed to NASCAR TV every week, on the 24 Hours of Le Mans team this year.

You have to take into consideration that the equipmet drivers have to get all of the sh!t to the tracks.
I don't think that your schedule is sustainable over the course of a 36 race season.

It would take some changes in procedure, but I think it could be done. Look how quickly they change from NW to Cup practice now. There would probably be less practice for everyone, but 2 hours should be enough. It may mix things up a little and take the cars and trucks away from this perfectly balanced routine.

In 9 races this year, only twice has the driver who led the most laps won: Tony Stewart in Vegas and Brad Keselowski at Bristol.

JD Motorsports, which fields No. 01 Chevys in #NASCAR Nationwide, suffered total loss to hauler on Sunday when it caught fire at shop.

No cars but hauler loaded with equipment, some uniforms, back-up parts, engines, shocks and springs for their operation was a total loss.

JD Motorsports will borrow hauler from RAB's Truck Series team to get to Talladega this weekend. Team's cars for Dega were not on the truck.
