Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

I usually use Hotpass to try and follow the 24 via other driver's feeds.
You could try watching Jr's channel then. You can usually catch #24 off of Jr's rear bumper cam. Seriously though, your guy is having some tough luck this year but he'll bounce back.

As someone who likes NASCAR racing I'd rather not read a bunch of posts trashing it or my drivers.
And here I thought I was the only one.

 It was really tough being an Earnhardt fan when Jr went to the Hendricks camp and became Team mates with Jeffie and Jimmie......the first 9 races of this season have kinda made up for that :D

I also have the TV and PC on when I'm at home watching the Cup race, normaly I'm not home yet on Sunday though and I listen on Sirius when possible.

Boy, I hear ya. Two other couples that are friends of ours were also Earnhardt Sr./Jr. fans had a tough time with that move of Jr's. They would no longer root for him after he moved to the Hendrick camp. Me, I stuck with him. I don't really care who he drives for, I'm a fan regardless.

Two thumbs up on the Sirius option. If you have the internet option and a smart phone then you'll love that SiriusXM phone app. They just upgraded it the other day and it now supports a pause/rewind/fast forward option. It's pretty sweet!

Yep I listen on my smart phone, it's about the only thing I have when traveling. I did'nt realize they updated the modes I'll have to check into that, Thanks!

No problem. The update just came this week. Force a download to 2.0 on your phone and you're good to go. I've noticed that since the update the bandwidth used is far less that what it previously was.

Speaking of updates, the Bold Prediction thread is about due don't ya think? Yea I know your a busy man

I haven't looked in a while but I will. There was a restrictor plate prediction that could be eliminated after this weekend dependent on the finish. I will catch up with it after the race.

Newman's car looks a lot like Jamie Mac's this week.

NASCAR fans may think they're seeing double during the Aaron's 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. The paint scheme that has adorned the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates #1 Bass Pro Shops Chevy moswt of the season will be shared with the Stewart-Haas Racing's Bass Pro Shops sponsored #39 Chevy driven by Ryan Newman for the Talledega race as a salute to men and women across America who enjoy the outdoor traditions of hunting, shooting sports, fishing, boating, camping and hiking. "Both Ryan and Jamie love to hunt and fish so we felt like this would be a great time to thank all the outdoor enthusiasts out there who love the outdoors and continue to pass on these traditions to future generations," stated Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. In addition, Bass Pro Shops wants to emphasize the outdoors is a great way to get away from our hectic fast-paced world and escape to the sights and sounds of nature.(Bass Pro Shops), see images of the schemes on the #1 Team schemes page and the #39 Team schemes page.(5-2-2012)

It's weird when one team has another teams sponsor.

Channel lineup for Sunday at Talladega...
Ch 795: 48 Johnson...
Ch 796: 56 Truex Jr...
Ch 797: 88 Dale Jr...
Ch 798: 99 Edwards

Great service. Too bad they couldn't provide it for the top 10 each week. Cost prohibitive, I'd imagine.

Also some sponsors don't spring for the on-board cameras very often. Dupont and DTEH haven't put a camera in the 24 all year.

I don't use any of that expensive stuff , but I do love to watch the race with my laptop by my side. I watch Nascar .com lap by lap tracking system which shows every car in the field ,what lap time they are running , how close they are to the car ahead , etc. .That way , I can see who is coming up through the field , who has a good car , and how the changes made during pit stops effect the lap times . I find it incredibly entertaining ,even though it is a couple of laps behind the tv coverage.

HotPass channels are already part of DirecTV. There is no extra fee for them. When these channels started on DirecTV years ago, it was a subscription service. That's long since changed.

I subscribed for years to nascar.com's TrackPass. The last couple years it was $79/year. Personally, I think that is a bargain for the return that you get. This year I dropped down to just the scanner option. I think that was $29. Whatever the price is, it's worth it.

I just noticed the advisory on the bridge - 17' 3" clearance. And look how freaking close the top of that trailer is to the overpass! The perspective may be affected a bit by the camera angle but still, that is damn close!

Another inch of asphalt on the roadway and Jimmie might not be at Talladega!
That may, or may not, be a bad thing depending upon your point of view...

Definitely perspective. They are not that high.

That's 99% the way I watch as well. You didn't mention beer so I reserved 1%.

Remember when they reground Dover several years back? I hope the same problems don't Surface at Bristol.

Did they use the Diamond Cut like they used at INDY? I hope that GoodYear is prepared...
