Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

They are going to stick 400 mil in crashtona. I guess that is their move? Despite the fact that they are some of the best races they have and it takes more driving skill instead of a crap shoot on restrictor plate crash- a- thons.

It needs it though. I love DIS but it's honestly kind of a dump. And even after the money put towards the redevelopment project is gone ISC still will have about $200-225 million in capital improvements available for its other tracks.

there should be a road course in the chase..but nascar has these two big white elephants they have to keep fed and watered, so on they go to Dega and what a mess of a track to have a championship race on. More luck than skill, driving like a bunch of drunkin sailors in rush hour. Got too much money and pride invested in that dinosaur to switch to a road course and leave that reck-a-thon out of the schedule. But they are stuck with those two, so lets put a bunch of money into decorating the other white Elephant, call it the "World Center of Racing"..yeah that will work..World center of crashing is more like it.

I agree, if they're going to stick with the Chase Talladega should be off of the schedule. Far too much of a crapshoot when there are only ten races to determine a champion. I wish they'd look into a way to take the plates off and separate the cars while maintaining a safe speed but the ratings are too good for that.

Somehow they still managed to crash at Daytona even before restrictor plates.

Fast Forward to the 1:54 mark for the carnage. How cool was that dramatic music that they played as part of the MRN broadcast back then?

Better camera work than any of the major networks now and no commercials.:D:D TNT would have missed the crash and put in 3 commercial breaks.

68 cars!!!!!!!!!

I'd say they should make the field that big again, but who am I kidding, it would just mean 25 more start-and-parks.

Sunday's race will be the first NASCAR race since 1978 that won't have a Labonte in the field. Bobby Labonte's consecutive starts will end at 704.

ISC owns Watkins Glen.
[shuffles over to corner, sits on stool, puts on dunce cap, sniffles a little, wonders why DP keeps making fun of him]

Yeah, I keep forgetting they picked it up. You'll notice it doesn't have a second date. I guess they should have build a casino like Kansas, although I still don't get the connection.

Pesky facts again. It's the damn restrictor plates dammit.

Don't think BL is running in Saturday's race either, 99...;)

Sucks anyday of the week. He had lots to prove past couple races, and luck didn't ride with him.

Why is it always Drunken SAILORS? Kinda Anti NAVY IMO.....

There's no doubt restrictor plates make Daytona and Talladega more crash-fests than races.

There's no doubt superspeedways have always produced wrecks . And there's also no doubt they are as big a part of the history of Nascar as mile and a halfs or short tracks . There is also no doubt that they draw big ratings . But yes , damn restrictor plates .;)

That's true, but there are wrecks at just about every track. Seven out of nine Daytona races with 10+ cautions were run with plates and all three Talladega races with 10+ cautions were run with plates. Put two dozen cars within a second of each other and they're bound to wreck a lot.

Keselowski in rare territory for defending NASCAR champ: #2-Brad Keselowski's 21st-place showing at Sonoma marked the seventh time in the past eight races that he has failed to crack the top 10. This comes after a blistering start to the season in which he had four top-5 finishes and seven top 10s in his first eight starts. Since then, he's dropped from third to ninth in the point standings and is only 10 points away from falling out of the top 10 entirely. In fact, the standings are so crowded that Keselowski is a mere 29 points ahead of 17th place #78-Kurt Busch. He's also only one early crash or mechanical failure away from dipping into territory rarely seen by a defending Cup champion.
Over the past 40 years, since NASCAR consolidated its schedule, no defending Cup champion has finished worse than 12th in the standings (not including 1992 champ Alan Kulwicki, who died in a place crash in April of 1993). In fact, only five drivers have finished worse than seventh. The average finishing position for the defending champion over the past four decades has been fourth place.(Sports Illustrated)(6-26-2013)

I think Kurt Busch making the Chase, competing for the championship all the way up to Homestead, and then winning the damn thing could make for a great NASCAR story, almost rivaling Kulwicki's.

How it should have been....

I think Danica Patrick making the Chase, competing for the championship all the way up to Homestead, and then winning the damn thing could make for a great NASCAR story, almost rivaling Kulwicki's.

One story about a historical effort by a small organization, and the other story about the lamest fix in nascar history. Why would it be lame you ask? If nascar is going to fix something so a woman can win, the least they should do is make sure she has a womans body. Think of the mess is nascar makes a big deal about Danica being the first female cup champion and the Globe finds out 'she' is really Dale Jr's paper boy.

You have one heck of a vivid imagination.

Or, you stumbled upon some mushrooms.... :D

I think I may have mentioned this before, but there is most certainly a short in your cranium.

I think there's a better chance of the Jacksonville Jaguars playing the Detroit Lions in the Super Bowl.

If that was really her, damn good I'd say, she seemed really nice I hope all is well.
