Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

  • Tire: Goodyear Eagle Superspeedway Radials
  • Set limits:
    Sprint Cup: 4 sets for practice/qualifying, 6 sets for the race;
Nationwide: 5 sets for the event

Great info, Bobby! Thanks for digging that up!

I cannot remember the last time that NA$$CAR limited the number of tires a CUP Team could use during a race.

If I remember the Goodyears are about $400 per tire...
10 sets for the weekend is a lot of $$ in tires

I can't wait for Saturday when I can watch the Ponies run at Churchill Downs and also watch the Destructor Place Nationwide Series Race at Talla-effen-dega!

And the Full Moon will be out as well! How effen crazy will things be in the infield??!

Holy Schneikie! I hope that the authorities are prepared for all of the mayhem and debauchery!

But it is rare that there is ever a limit on how many sets of tires a CUP team can burn thru in a race weekend, no matter the cost.

Interesting. I thought there was always a limit on race tires for Cup. Maybe this is how Rick wins so much. He buys all the tires before anyone else can get enough. ;)

I want to thank you guys for carrying on an intelligent conversation about tires today and showing some maturity . I thought that you would be making immature Bevis and Butthead jokes today and I was wrong . My apologies to forum members .

I don't think there is a limit on tires in Cup for the race. I think they just distribute a certain number of sets. If they need more during the race they can get more.

This is why I like Twitter. Finding images like that is fun. Improves a slow day at work.

Will Farrell and Nicholas Cage are both in that category, IMO. But then, so was John Wayne...

I think Kurt's car looks great!

The teams would love to get tires for $400 a piece. Last year a set was $1800 and I heard it was up to about $1900 a set this year.

Usually, the number of sets Cup teams can use in practice is set but they can use as many sets Goodyear can bring for everyone during the race. Maybe NASCAR is going to try to start limiting Cup teams to so many sets a weekend. If everyone was limited, it wouldn't be a big deal.

In the media center.....

Denny Hamlin recalls that he and Kevin Harvick discovered 2-car draft unintentionally in practice and went 12 mph faster on lap.

Bruton Smith immediately calls into the media center to dispute this statement stating he discovered the 2-car draft. This is followed up by a call from Humpy Wheeler stating that he is responsible for the 2-car draft. When will it end?

Mike Joy on winning at Talladega, " people lose here by accident but NO ONE wins here by accident", "it's a science".

Thanks Robby. She must be pretty easy going to sign that. and now we know how she got her beads.

Good stuff, Matt! Thanks!

I imagine that this is how Danica felt inside while signing that young man's chest...

I'm a little disapointed that Kurt wasn't willing to do more for Finch, but this is a great idea by Ms Driscoll. I'm not sure on having the team memorize lines, but whatever. It's not like they are chase contenders.

I think the attention Kurt will get this weekend driving that car will do plenty for Finch. They'll get a sponsor.

I could only watch about the first 15 minutes of that movie :bleh:

YEP! TN was about as lame as it gets. I did watch the whole thing - but afterwards I said that I would never watch another Will Farrell movie. And I haven't!

You are such an elitist! lol

Better hearing it from me than from FB, eh? ;)
