Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Six consecutive top tens may keep the Junior haters quiet but they aren't far away. One bad finish and they will be loud and proud.

Tony's 'soapbox' moment seemed to have paid off rather well for him this week. In a time when sponsorship is at a premium, Tony is now reeling them in.....

Tony Stewart needs a Muzzle. That guy should look to Roger and Rick as Mentors. Maybe take some notes.

Nationwide Talladega penalties announced yesterday afternoon.

NASCAR announced that two NASCAR Nationwide Series crew chiefs had been fined and placed on probation for violations during this past weekend's event at Talladega Superspeedway. In addition, the teams' respective car chiefs have also been placed on probation for the remainder of the year. Crew chiefs Jeremy Bullins (#22 team) and Chad Walter (#12 team) have each been fined $10,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. Additionally, the teams' respective car chiefs Thomas Clavette (#22) and Raymond Fox (#12) have been placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. The rules violations referred to Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules detailed in Section 20-A of the rule book); 20A-2.1E (streamlining of the contours of the car, beyond what is approved by the series director will not be permitted.

2.1E? I wonder if this little diddy was added after getting the C-post penalties over turned. If so, it's still too vague.

REAR BUMPER, GONE IT WILL BE.

I got this info from a guy that calls himself NASCARYODA.

FOR REAL, YO!

Well, since he has 'Yoda' in his name, I'll have to believe him. ;) I can see them shortening it, but taking it off completly off the car would take away some of the fuel cell protection.

Maybe they will remove the shark fin and perhaps use the smaller spoiler. Making this change at Darlington will insure plenty of wall action.

What else could it say . These rules have to be general enough to cover things that noone has thought of yet, not just the stuff that has already happened . I think it is being proactive and not reactive . If these guys want to make a change in the body , why don't they just submit it for approval by Nascar first instead of trying to sneak it into a race.

Like the 48 team did, only to get penalized for something that nascar had approved on several occasions? I can't believe these things still come down to someones eye sight and opinion.

Sorry Fender , I wasn't talking about stuff they snuck in before and was missed or overlooked by inspectors . I 'm talking about actually walking the new part over to the Nascar hauler and saying ,"This is a part we plan to put on our car next week , are you prepared to approve it "?

It seems pretty clear.....

Unless otherwise authorized by the series director, cutting and reshaping of bumper covers will not be permitted.

They were modified and were not approved by NASCAR. They were penalized.

The 48 team didn't sneak anything in, Ted. It was approved again and again. We all know this already.

Walk parts over to the hauler? That's not how it's done. NASCAR doesn't require that every part gets walked over to their hauler because the line would be 2 weeks long. They don't even require every new part get submitted to tech in the weeks before using them. Remember those JGR Aero oil pans? They weren't submitted BEFORE being inspected at the track. JGR didn't even point them out, the tech saw them and questioned them.

Yeah, that's EXACTLY what they said about the C-post covers. Then we all saw the inspectors watching the 48 team cut and reshape the new covers. These parts aren't built by the teams, so there will ALWAYS be some cutting and reshaping to make it fit the car. Where is the line?

So Fender , you're saying that the only reason they can't take the stuff over to the Nascar trailor for prior approval is because of the line ups ? Can't they just put up one of those rope systems like the Disney line ups ?They seem to move pretty fast.

Maybe they can get one of thoseDisney World Fastpass's where they can move to the front of the line?

NASCAR Hall of Fame has $683,897 deficit for last 9 months, includes $440,386 in royalties to NASCAR, which NASCAR wont collect until the HOF is in the black.

Also saw this.....

The NASCAR Hall of Fame kicks off a new exhibition in the Great Hall, "Grassroots Racing: Where NASCAR Heroes are Born" on Monday. The exhibition is included in general admission.

"Grassroots Racing: Where NASCAR Stars are Born" tells the story of hometown racetracks, affectionately called “grassroots,” where many NASCAR drivers began their careers racing every Friday and Saturday night.

“It’s a vital part of our mission to preserve, uphold and be a resource for the sport and its history," said Winston Kelley, executive director of the facility. "This is the eighth new Great Hall exhibition since opening in May 2010 and it is with these exhibitions the Hall continues to present new chapters in the history book" of NASCAR.

Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick are both in Nashville testing today. :D It could get interesting. I'm just saying.

Again, rumor stuff but here's more on upcoming changes.....
One thing on shocks, one thing on crush panels, shark and deck lid fins at tracks 2mi and longer.

Biggest thing that will affect the teams is a new minimum side skirt height for all tracks. 1.5" higher left side and 1" higher right side.

Effective May 16th.

Does this mean that the shark fins will be gone on tracks shorter than 2 miles? Or are they adding something to those for longer tracks?
Don't know. It's all open for interpretation right now. I heard that some sort of announcement is to be made next week and again, this is all rumor until then.

Maybe the cars will sport real headlights?

I heard Adam Carolla bitch about how the headlights are decals. Seriously Adam?

You're on to something there. No longer will we have to wait for them to pony up the money for Musco. Every track will have the potential for night racing. o_O

yeah, cause SMI is way to poor to pony up a little money for some lights. BRING ON SATURDAY NIGHT RACING.

I for one, would do MIS in a heartbeat two times a year if it was under the saturday night lights. As for this year. Naaaaa.
