Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

Thanks, glad you like it. I was just trying to create a thread to throw in some random NASCAR related info, pics, whatever. I hated creating a new topic for every little item. I'm just a old redneck that enjoys all that is NASCAR. That being said..... I won't be around much for a week or so. We're on the first leg of our family vacation. We are doing some rv'ing on the beach in southern MD. No worries though, I packed the generator, satellite dish & a HD flat screen TV for the Michigan race.
You are a man that knows the imortant things in life. Have fun on your vacation.:)

You stumbled on a brilliant way to keep most of us turds on topic.

Fox has started serious negotiations with NASCAR about an early extension of its TV rights package, jump-starting a process that wasn't expected to begin until early next year, according to several sources. The early negotiations will allow FOX to avoid bidding for NASCAR rights in the open market, where potential suitor NBC is expected to drive up prices. According to the report, fellow incumbents ESPN and Turner Sports have not yet begun negotiating with NASCAR. FOX acquired NASCAR rights in 1999 and began airing races in 2001.(Sports Media Watch / Sports Business Journal)(6-18-2012)

Must be nice to have an entire night of racing named after you.

They want a cheap price. If JR goes on a little tear even they will have to pay more.

Lots of testing this week for the RCR teams. Harvick is at High Plains in Colorado getting ready for Sonoma, while Austin Dillon is at Rockingham and Ty Dillon and Tim george Jr. are at Gresham today.

My favorite MIS quote of the race is by Kyle Busch "It blowed up".

Yes folks. The Kyle busch brothers are related to Ricky Bobby after all.

NASCAR side skirt and sway bar rules change: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams received a technical bulletin today (6/20), outlining the following rule changes effective 6/27:
· Ground clearance for all side skirts has been increased by ½ inch. Right side skirts must have a minimum clearance of 4.5 inches/maximum clearance of 5 inches. Left side skirts must have a minimum clearance of 5 inches/maximum clearance of 5.5 inches. This is the next step in looking at the aero package for intermediate race tracks.
· Both the right and left side rear sway bar arm connecting links must be perpendicular to the ground from all viewing angles when car is at ride height. This is an effort to maintain consistency in rear sway bar setups.(NASCAR)(6-20-2012)

This weekend is one of my favorites of the year. Maybe top 5. Or top 3. Top four for sure. :lol2:

Don't they make 88 umbrellas?

I used to have a sticker of Calvin peeing on Dale Jarrett's 88. After JR switched #'s and numerous nasty grams left on my windshield I was forced to remove it. I don't care how long he's been retired, if JR wouldn't have switched I'd still sport that sticker.

How's this for random? Since it's a road course double header this weekend, did you know Ron Fellows has a special edition Corvette named for him? The Zo6 Ron Fellows GT1 Championship Edition, made in 2007. They built 399 of them, and they don't perform any better than a standard Z06. Still, Ron has the privilege of telling people his name is attached to a Corvette.

After three starts with Micheal Waltrip Racing, #55-Brian Vickers has posted two top-five finishes. He'll return to the driver's seat at New Hampshire Motor Speedway next month after team owner Michael Waltrip runs the car at Kentucky and Daytona. Could it be an audition for a future seat with Waltrip? "Certainly," Waltrip said. "We structured MWR and built our building and Toyota believes in the fact that we could have four teams one day. Certainly (it) is a possibility to add Brian to our driver lineup with a fourth team or even have him hang around another year, and if Mark ever gets done driving -- which I wouldn't wait around for Mark to quit if I was him. I would put something else in my contract if I was him, because Mark is probably going to do it a while." Waltrip currently fields three full-time teams with #15-Clint Bowyer, #56-Martin Truex Jr. and Martin.(FoxSports)(6-25-2012)

I can see Matt leaving Jack to go to MWR, it seems that they have finally got their act together and are very competitive.

I could see the same type of deal that Bowyer did , bringing some big name sponsor with him .Matt back with Dewalt would be great.

I know that most think of Michael Waltrip as the fool but the guys doing a great job with that company. It sure started off rough but man, has that organization turned around.

Established big teams with big name drivers shrunk while MWR grew with no name drivers. It's damn amazing that MWR is so close to going from a 'B' organization to and A- team just behind the big boys.

Iditarod and Yukon Quest champion Dallas Seavey slides his dog team past NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin at the FedEx Express Hub in Anchorage on Monday, June 25, 2012. Hamlin, who drives the No. 11 FedEx Express Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series visited with some of the 1,350 FedEx team members at the Anchorage hub before learning about the sport of dog mushing from Seavey and then competing in a best-of-3 sled dog race in the parking lot.
